I was recommended by my dentist, Dr. Wilson of Sodorff & Wilson, for my gum grafting. From the moment I interacted with the receptionist and all through my initial appointment, it was very apparent to me that everyone here is both personable and opinionated. That can make one feel both uncomfortable as well as more connected and aware. So it's a good and a bad thing depending on how you look at it. If you like the customer service facade of many medical practices then this may not enjoy your experience here. Dr. Nygaard and her assistant are both very experienced and very opinionated women and they don't hold back on bringing up their critique on your health, even in areas you didn't come in to talk about. I will disclaim that while this may have been a bit more stimulating emotionally then I bargained for, it ultimately is not something I dislike; I appreciate that the medical world is in flux and filled with new research and approaches, so I find it refreshing and valuable to have real discussions with my doctors. I want to talk to my regular dentist about some of the things Dr. Nygaard recommended as far as my dental hygiene (she told me to try switching to a different toothbrush, changing my brushing technique) because I was given some ideas I have never heard before. Anyway, I think there is a wholistic health approach here, for sure. And it makes you feel like Dr. Nygaard is very very passionate about what she does and she is really thinking about you as an individual. That being said, I can see why some people have a negative experience. Most important, Dr. Nygaard is amazing at what she does. My gum graft looks so good. I was really nervous about the cosmetic aspect of it and I couldn't be happier. I would recommend coming here. I do agree that the receptionist shouldn't be bringing up irrelevant personal topics with patients and that this office should definitely address that, but it just isn't a significant enough factor for me.
