In hindsight, I should have asked for a refund after 10 minutes. So 8:50 I order and I wait. And wait. And still no one is telling me anything. I do see some people get their chicken but no one is talking to me. Oh, someone said it will be another minute but after 20 I see some kids actually bring a tray of uncooked hot links and corn to the grill. Again, should have asked for a refund as I see the rest of our party - tired of waiting - head off. At 9:30 I finally get my link and a halfassed apology. That's it. Not even going to call it a hot link as it wasn't spicy. The flavor was forgettable as I devoured the thing. Ironically before we got to Drake's we talked about people giving bad reviews for service. And here I am today.

But the quality was mediocre at best, with desperately overcooked rice and dry-as-a-bone carved turkey. The flavors were decent, though, even if things were overcooked. The desserts tasted mass-produced and like they'd come out of a freezer. If they ARE made in-house, that would make me sad, because the quality of the ingredients was noticeably low, and choux pastry as that in the cream puffs should never taste that bready and mealy. The servers were mostly polite, although not always very responsive about serving food, but overly aggressive about busing tables. Several women kept bugging us while we were eating to see if we were done with any of our dishes. Honestly, that came across as pushy and a little rude. Let people finish, leave them alone until they're done eating, no one wants their food to get cold(er) while they have to answer to someone who wants to bus the table aggressively every 2-3 minutes! I am posting this review to let others know that this might not be the best catering company for a very large event, since it seems like their more positive reviews are for smaller events, and that might be where they excel!

The bride has celiac disease and they were able to make all gluten free food that was safe from cross contamination. 2. The food was very delicious especially the risotto and braised short ribs. 3. Things primarily ran smoothly on the day. Cons 1. Several months before the event, they were extremely challenging to get a hold of. It took two months of emails and phone calls to get several questions answered. 2. We signed a catering proposal with a certain cost estimate. Three months before the event, they shared that many costs had been left off the original proposal and gave us a new proposal that was thousands of dollars more (this was so close to the wedding we did not have any options regarding finding a different caterer). 3. On the day, they were not ready to serve the drinks at the beginning of the cocktail hour and guests had to wait 10mins before the first guests were able to get their drinks.

But the school is nestled in the middle of the gorgeous wood scenery. We were greeted at the guard gate by two guards who came out and welcomed us personally. We chatted for a couple of minutes and then it was off to our room. What you just have to see is the beautiful view from the main driveway looking up the middle of the campus. Postcard like, to say the least. The wife and I stayed on campus during the week of Christmas visiting friends. Not too long of a ride from the Oakland Airport. While in the car, our hostess received a call from the guard gate asking if we'd gotten in alright. I thought that was quite nice, that the people at the security gate we are aware of our arrival. With that type of attention, we knew safety would not be an issue. Our room was very, very nice. Not really large, but plenty of room for two people and also a spacious desk area for working. We were staying for a week, so the fact that there was a nice sized walk in closet was a bonus for us. I work from home. Which means I also work when I am on the road. So for me, the litmus test is always the ease in which I can do my work. Well, the Wi-Fi work perfectly. No glitches and fast speeds. Also, because we knew there would be Wi-Fi, we brought our Roku with us and was able to stream our favorite shows. Cool, right? For you folks who hang out in the bathroom all the time (my wife is one of them), our bathroom was extremely spacious with plenty of towels. And oh man, did that water get hot. So believe me when I tell you that you will have no trouble in the morning with a cold shower. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to make our own meals. The refrigerator, stove, and microwave both work fine. The wife and I are big believers and prepping our own food because we have been trying to lose weight. There was a 24-Hour grocery store (Safeway) right up the street, so access to groceries was no problem. While we did not use public transportation, we noticed the BART line passing right by the school, so for you folks who want to get around, you will have no problem. Not that I would ever have the opportunity to use them, but during a tour we also saw that the campus had excellent conference facilities. As a resume writer, I would not likely have much use for this. But I figured some of you reading this review planning business retreats or team building activities may need this. Appears to be able to accommodate any size group. We have friends in the San Francisco area, so we have decided that the next time we return, we are definitely staying at Saint Mary's College of California again. The wife and I are not big fans of hotels, simply because of the lack of personal feel. Staying on a college campus was different for us, but we really felt as though we were treated like family.

From the looks of their calendar they travel around quite a bit including a lot of Oakland Athletics baseball games this month. So Oakland VegFest was unusually hot this year compared to last year when it was overcast & a lot cooler. I decided to get the sampler plate for $16. This came w/ Mungo, Adobo, Apritada, & Pansit. They were out of the Apritada which was a popular item so my server suggested I could double up on one of the other three items. Since I didn't know so much about the menu I asked the server for his recommendation. He said I would double up w/ the Mungo & that's what I went with. I went to find a shady spot & enjoyed my food. It was filling, tasty & nourishing. I loved that there was lots of veggies, legumes, & brown rice that seemed like a healthy meal that was flavorful to boot. The Mungo was mung beans boiled in broth then combined w/ sautéed kabocha squash, string beans, & deep fried tofu. The Adobo was soy chicken strips fried to a crisp, combined w/ soft eggplant then cooked in a marinade of soy sauce, vinegar, bay leaves, garlic, salt, & pepper. Pansit was traditional rice noodles cooked in a vegetable broth of soy chicken, cabbage, celery, and carrots, then seasoned with pepper, soy sauce and lemon juice. The Apritada that they sold out of is a stew-like combination of soy chicken, potatoes, red bell peppers, and green peas melted into a tomato based sauce. A friend I was with decided to have a snack of Lumpia spring rolls for $4 for the pair. These were seasoned soy ground beef mixed w/ shredded cabbage, peas, and carrots then rolled in a rice wrapper and deep fried to perfection. Sweet chili sauce was provided for dipping. Our other friend opted to go w/ a Mungo plate for $9. He wasn't keen on the tofu so asked if they could give him extra kabocha squash instead of the tofu. They did & was no worries. All in all No Worries Filipino Vegan Cuisine was quite alright. I look forward to trying them again & especially am curious to try the Apritada that sold out.

We visited their truck yesterday at SoMa StrEat Food Park for Very Vegan Sundays. On the menu was adobo (soy vinegar based stew - $9), apritada (tomato based stew - $9), mungo (mung bean stew - $8), pancit (stir-fried vermicelli noodles - $8), and lumpia (fried egg rolls - $4). With the exception of the pancit and lumpia, orders come with a side of brown rice. Sampler Plate with 1 lumpia was $16. CC's accepted. The apritada and adobo (savory and vinegary) tasted like the real deal but personally, I'm not a fan of faux meat that it came with. I just can't get use to the spongy texture. Pancit was a bit bland and could of used more garlic and a sprinkling of scallions for some color. The brown rice was really dry. Filipino food can be intimidating especially since it's really underrepresented outside of Daly City. I think No Worries would be a good introduction for newbie Filipino food eaters...and even for carniwhores like Mr. NSS. The fruits they serve with the breakfasts are also really fresh and they have a good variety; for example, today's fruit tray had blueberries, raspberries, red and white cherries, yellow peaches, pineapples, and honeydew. Their lunch boxes are also good but I've had them one too many times:-) and need a break. I like that their lunch boxes provide a salad, fresh fruit, a wrapped cookie, as well as a wrap - so it's a pretty balanced meal.
