Dr. Herron is an amazing pediatrician with experience, compassion, and a true heart for children…read more She has a solo practice which gives a much cozier feel than the typical big group practices so common today. As grandparents raising a grandchild, we had been having trouble finding a practice that would accept us since we did not possess all of the requisite medical records and our grandson had not had all of his immunizations. As an example, one Decatur practice I called was accepting new patients and we had the right insurance, but I was told we would just have to "go to the Health Department" for care because of our non-standard situation. Dr. Herron and her staff welcomed us and went out of their way to locate necessary information and help in every way possible to get our little guy on track. This is not a cookie cutter practice or one with a focus on brisk efficiency. Appointments take time, in part because Dr. Herron teaches medical students and they often come in to ask initial questions or accompany Dr. Herron during the examination. We always approach our visits with patience and treat everyone there with kindness and respect, and in return we have found everyone on the staff to be more than helpful and accommodating. We love Dr. Herron, whose depth of experience and knowledge, sense of humor, candor, and willingness to spend time to get to know her little patients are priceless. Yes, it is true that an office visit may last 2 hours. It is true that the parking lot is small. These factors are insignificant to us compared to the quality of care we receive and the kindness with which our little one is treated. Update 8/25/19 Dr. Herron recently moved her practice. The new space is in a charmingly renovated historic building in Midtown and is a bit smaller, but it is lovely and the parking is much easier to navigate. Unfortunately, there is a parking fee, but it was reasonable. We took our grandson to the new location on Friday for a sick child visit. Dr. Herron actually called to check on him on a SUNDAY and decided to call in a prescription after talking with us about his ongoing symptoms (and chatting a bit with her little patient). This was definitely above and beyond and speaks to Dr. Herron's commitment to the children in her care.

However, the front office staff and office policies have not been a good experience. I recently moved out of state and attempted to access my records via the patient portal and could not access them. Per an email request, I received a phone call saying I could complete a form for my new physician (I've already done this) and if I wanted my records I could PAY A FEE for them to be provided via CD. I have two overwhelming concerns: 1) I and/or my insurance company have paid through the nose for medical care for the past 8 years; and 2) who uses CDs anymore-- new computers don't come with a CD drive! What century are you in? Everything is cloud-based now and precisely why I should be able to access my records via the portal. As an example, I can access my Emory and Mayo Clinic records today (some are over 2 decades old and others over a decade old). This is a terrible business practice and nothing but a MONEY MAKER for this practice. I'm hugely disappointed in this nonsensical practice. And, I would also be concerned about a medical office SNAIL MAILING private, medical records. Isn't this a HIPAA privacy concern?

am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the severe lack of professionalism, administrative…read morefailures, and critical medical negligence I experienced while under the care of your practice, specifically concerning Dr. Eberechukwu Azuma and Dr. Georwana Jefferson. The medical mismanagement and dismissive behavior of your staff not only caused me severe financial hardship but directly placed the health of my unborn child and myself at serious risk. My specific grievances include the following: 1. Critical Diagnostic Errors (Incorrect Due Date): Dr. Azuma established my initial due date. Based entirely on this timeline, I went on maternity leave, only to later discover the due date was wrong by an entire month. This massive error caused me a severe lack of funds during a critical time. 2. Near-Fatal Medical Decisions: Because of the incorrect timeline, multiple routine tests, including my glucose screening, were administered far too early. Furthermore, I was told my baby might have Fetal Macrosomia (FMG). I was nearly induced early based on this faulty timeline. An unnecessary early induction would have created severe, life-threatening health risks for my baby and me. 3. Dismissive and Inadequate Examinations: During my appointments, Dr. Jefferson repeatedly rushed through my visits. Dr. Jefferson also brushed off my concerns and assured me everything was fine based solely on a heartbeat check and a fundal height tape measurement, completely missing the fact that the gestational age was inaccurate. 4. Abandonment of Care: After Provider Azuma established my initial due date, I never saw Azuma again, resulting in zero continuity of care. 5. Abysmal Communication and Staff Attitude: The office staff consistently demonstrated an unprofessional attitude. The clinic lines were rarely answered. On the rare occasions, someone did pick up the phone, staff members rushed through the calls, showing a complete lack of empathy and patient care. 6. Inability to Transfer Care: Because I am already far along in my pregnancy, I have been unable to secure care from another obstetric provider. As a result, I am effectively forced to remain with the same clinic responsible for these serious errors, despite my concerns about the safety and quality of my care. The gravity of this situation was only caught because I took it upon myself to get a second opinion from an outside doctor. Had I stayed with your practice, I would have been induced a month early under a false diagnosis, which is an unacceptable breach of the standard of care. The anxiety, emotional distress, and financial strain your practice caused my family during what should have been a joyful time are inexcusable. I expect a formal, written response detailing how your office plans to investigate these providers and what actions it will take to ensure no other patient is subjected to this dangerous level of care.

My 96 years old grandmother recommended this location because she believed this was one of the centers that has been in existence for more than 90 years. This location was one of the first places that I remember my grandmother, my mother and I coming for Medical Services for decades. I'm very pleased to say that the staff is friendly. I initially spoke with the administrative staff in the specialty center, her name was Miyah, she's the one who reached out to nurse J. Jones. Now now Nurse J Jones was definitely a blessing in disguise, she was very professional, listened carefully to assure she understood why we were there and what we needed. Nurse J Jones was very helpful. She made my sister feel safe and it felt like we knew her for years, but we had only met her minutes after walking in the door. I believe Nurse Jones needs some type of accommodation because she could've just suggested we come back another day, but she really was invested in helping my sister with her care. I even got a chance to meet the manager of the entire Medical Center doing this visit. His name was Mr. Earl, this gentleman was very pleasant and wanted to know how they were doing, and I did not hesitate to express my appreciation for the main location. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this location was very modern and extremely clean. I was impressed to find out that they had a special waiting area for senior citizens. This was a great decision because seniors can read books, watch television, get updates and other resources while they wait for their appointment. They even offered healthy snacks and water in the senior section and I learned that they escort the seniors to their scheduled appointment if and when they need assistance. This shows that they are really invested in community and plan to do everything to keep this Community informed, safe and healthy as possible. Everyone that I came in contact with was more than ready and able to help us. They were very patient, friendly and even the temperature in the building was very relaxing. So, I just want to say, I appreciate Southside Medical Center for staying in our community and providing excellent services.

Anyway, she raved and raved about Dr. Kleiss like I would rave about a pie from Lombardis. Professional, very friendly, personable, comfortable, informative, and all those other things. She did all the woman things perfectly, better than anyone ever in history. Got it? Good. So there you have it. She gets top dog rating and every woman should use Dr. Kleiss from this day forward! Dr. Kleiss is a fantastic doctor and surgeon. She gets four stars for that alone. I got pregnant…read morethe month after she operated to remove a uterine polyp that was probably preventing pregnancy. And, though I wasn't thrilled to need a C-section, I was thrilled to have Dr. Kleiss doing it - my scar is practically invisible and I had a smooth recovery. But over the 7+ years I have been seeing her, it became clear that this practice probably isn't the best fit for me. Dr. Kleiss is very cool, relaxed, and friendly, and her general MO is to very confidently convey that everything is fine. This probably puts most people at ease, but for me--and I know I have anxiety issues--it does the opposite. I like data, and (what I perceive) as overconfidence makes me nervous, which causes me to ask more questions to verify. Which causes the provider to become irritated with me and probably write "difficult" in my chart a la Seinfeld https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyossoHFDJg. A lot of times, she was right and there was nothing to worry about. But sometimes my concerns were right... she was confident that I didn't have any fertility issues, but when I pushed for testing we found a polyp ... she played down my feeling that the baby was breech, but I was right and we found out too late to turn the baby. Basically, it just became a cycle where I never trusted her assurances and she was automatically skeptical of any concern I raised. (Full disclosure, there was also an incident where I was left in a waiting room alone with no windows for over an hour and got pretty upset - the sad kind, not the angry kind... not real proud of that one, but I was going to be late for something important... after that incident I always brought my computer and expected to be there at least 2.5 hours) At some point, things turned and I just never felt comfortable there anymore. I felt like I had a not-entirely-deserved reputation that I could never overcome. But I can't complain - I have a healthy baby and my torso isn't completely wrecked yet. And now I have switched to an OB practice I feel much more comfortable with (hopefully they don't request my records and suddenly turn cold!)
