Super big thank you to Bobbie at Bob's for the great one on one attention given to my two dogs! I also appreciate immensely how accommodating Bobbie was with my uncertain travel schedule. 100% will use this service again. Two happy dogs - Bentley and Bleau are now at home dreaming about their "vacation" (deep sleeping and feets running). Thank you!

HOW did that happen in 10 minutes? Apparently they put my dog in a small room with a vet and another dog and they said he didn't do well...of course not! He doesn't know any of you and was scared! I immediately went to find another company and found Animal Friends. I told them of this situation and they said to bring my dog down to meet them, he did fine as I expected and my dog has now been happily boarded for 2.5 years. I travel extensively and appreciate that it's a family owned business that actually cares about my dog. They know I travel and accomodate me too because some nights I come in late and picking up the next day is better for me. If you are looking for a great dog boarding company that will treat you and your dog like family, I totally recommend Animal Friends.

I had to put my cat done a year ago on the 9th, and she was amazing. They've accidentally forgotten to charge me for things, and when I insisted on paying a few months later when they found out, they wouldn't let me. Dr. Bethke has always been my vet, but I've had experience with the other vets and it was positive as well. One of the things MN Valley does that is unique is that they have an on-call number if you're having an emergency. Dr. Anderson put up with me more than once (several times I think I woke him up), and he was nice enough to kind of walk me through the decision the night before my Simon was put to sleep. Simon was clearly suffering, and Dr. Anderson offered to come in and do it then (like 9:30pm) or I could wait until the morning (my cat had gotten so bad so quickly that he couldn't even get up to walk to drink or use the litter box), but when I looked at Simon, he meowed at me, telling me it was ok, he wanted one more night. Dr. Anderson didn't mind, he said "it's fine, I understand, I'll put you down first thing when I get there..... you're doing the right thing." When I move back to IL, MN Valley is one of the places I'm going to miss the most.

Look into River Hills or even Mapleton Clinic unless you want to way way overpay, have extremely long waits, and deal with fake vets. Leashes & Leads

Leashes & Leads

We had used Leashes & Leads for boarding and daycare for our previous dog and were very happy with…read morethem. The employees seemed to really enjoy and care about dogs. However, last week was a terrible experience. We left our two Border Terriers with Leashes & Leads to stay for several nights while we were a couple hours away for business meetings. Our dogs are a 5-year-old brother and sister pair who are very bonded; they'd never been apart and were supposed to be kept in the same kennel. I told the staff that our dogs wrestle and play-fight several times a day--they love to do that and if you have Borders, you know what I'm talking about. I also left Benadryl for the staff to give them if they were anxious while we were gone. They've been fine being periodically boarded since they were one year, so they have a track record of doing fine in kennels. A few hours after we left them, we got a text that the staff had fed our dogs some other dogs' food, which we appreciated their letting us know. Then the next morning, we got a text that the staff was separating our dogs due to fighting. No amount of explaining that our dogs just play that way got through to the woman who called. I know how anxious our dogs get when they're apart from each other, so I drove two hours back to get them. (No one had given them anything for their anxiety as I'd instructed.) A surly, hostile woman named F***h checked us out, overcharging us by a lot. We finally got some of the wrong charges removed but still got charged $66 as a late fee on top of their other charges. I had to ask several times for an itemized statement before she grudgingly gave me one. She also seemed like she did not like our dogs, which was especially concerning. Our dogs are HIGHLY motivated by play and food, but for many hours after I got them, they refused to eat treats or play--they were really stressed. I don't know if they were just traumatized from being separated or if something else happened, as well. Like I said, Leashes & Leads was great in the past, but unless the owner can assure us that F***h and any other employees who are hostile to dogs and people are no longer employed there, we'll not use them again.

I've had nothing but troubles and have heard nothing but bad things about them…read more I applied here 4 TIMES. And every single time I was "forgotten about." As an applicant. I did 2 tours of the place (because they couldn't even remember that I had done one previously.) both times I toured (months apart) the entire back room reeked of urine and feces, too many dogs in one area with not enough staff to adequately care for the dogs, dogs humping each other, fighting, handlers shocking the crap out of dogs with e-collars to the point they were yelping and jumping in pain. (They never mentioned training for their employees on these devices so I assume they just slap them on and hope it does the trick), dogs frightened in corners of the room and a "jail" as they called it for dogs to go when they are aggressive. I've worked at other kennels and I've never seen one run like this. I was told recently that they are under new management so hopefully that helps but this place seems like a train wreck. When I went for my first interview I was approached by one of the groomers who offered me a position (I had no grooming experience at the time) and she said that they hated their jobs and were basically wrestling dogs to get them in the bath. I've heard horror stories of dogs coming back with broken or lame legs and paws, dogs not getting medications, staff putting senior dogs with rowdy teenage dogs, and many accounts of infections, parasites and illnesses contracted here. Staff are allowed to sit on their phones during playtime and when I toured, that's EXACTLY what all of them were doing. Sitting in chairs, on their phones, and when a dog misbehaved they would throw it in jail or shock it with an e collar.

My complaint is the ridiculous charges for basically nothing and you apparently are not allowed any follow up unless they steal more money from you. Others have commented about them being all about the money and one comment was about feeling like they walked onto a car lot and everything being a sales pitch. It literally should be against the law for these shyster's to charge the fees they do, knowing they can get away with it because a persons pet is almost like their child and you just can't say no. I could go on, but the bottom line is, after $1,644, I was told my dog really had nothing wrong but some kind of gastro-intestinal issue (basically, he had to fart) that apparently did not require anything but a big payment. A week later, when my dog still had issues, I called and was told that I must bring him back in to be checked out again(probably another $1,500). I just needed a question answered which was refused without a veterinary consultation. This is bulls**t. I do have insurance but its the point of highway robbery that I object to. Be prepared to have your bank account operated on if you go to one of their hospitals. And, btw, for a facility as nice as BluePearl, you would think their restrooms would be clean. NOT.

I adopted Panda about 6 weeks ago and have been going to a vet in Minneapolis near my house, but when I found out she was not yet spayed (and the cost to do that for an older dog in the cities), I decided to call Heartland since I figured they may be cheaper and I knew they would do a wonderful job. I explained my situation over the phone and the receptionist gave me a price (over $300 less than the vet near my home) with a thorough explanation of everything that was included (including using a laser since my dog is over 1 years old, pain medications, etc...) I scheduled an appointment on the spot with Dr. Candace Born (who came with high recommendations from my parents, as well as others in town who have seem her). Upon arriving, the staff at Heartland could not have been more welcoming and educational. They had a cute welcome board with Panda's name on it, and were patient with her when she was apprehensive about me leaving. As soon as she was finished with surgery, I got a phone call to update me on her status. I picked her up a few hours later, and one of the vet techs spent about 15 minutes going over post surgery instructions and answering all of my (many) questions. Panda is healing great and I could not be more happy with my service at Heartland! Now I just have to decide if its worth the drive to have them be my full time vet...
