    Paws Abilities Dog Training

DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY! I signed up for the Canine Good Citizen 6-week class and paid $180…read more Trainer was Reiichi hanson. Here is a list of my experience: 1. Email for the class and all preparations needed was sent out 2.5 hours before the class started. (I didn't see this email and had no time to purchase/gather items needed to make the class run smooth for me and my dog. I didn't even know the actual start time. I guessed. Some lady on the phone prior said 4:45pm and I assumed that was to come in to register and pay, BUT it was the actual start time of the class. I felt totally unprepared and rushed. 2. Trainer rushed through about 6 activities in class, talked super fast, very hard to hear and provided NO handouts with homework that we could work on for the week. I reached out to him by email the very next day of class and in 1.5 days he emails back to tell me that he switches the teachings of each class based on the needs of the specific class so he doesn't give handouts, but IF he reviews activities at the end of the class, I can take notes or a video of that, (keep in mind I'm holding and untrained dog during this time????). IF I NEED TO LEARN 10 SPECIFIC THINGS FOR THE CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST THROUGH THE AKC, HOW DO THOSE THINGS CHANGE? The least you could do is provide a handout of the things you need to know and practice that will help you pass this test. 3. Trainer started class without me. I was told I can pay on the day of, so I came early to pay and then I asked what time class started because I didn't get any emails. Reiichi said 4:45 and I had 2 minutes to run back outside to get my dog. He started without us after he literally just told me, it was fine and I could grab my dog quickly since I didn't know when it started. 4. It took multiple contacts to register for this class. Should have been my first red flag right there. No one really calls you back. After the 3rd contact, I finally found out when this class was taking place this fall. Been waiting since spring to join something. 5. NO RESPONSE FROM OWNER....I left a voicemail the day after the first class about my concerns of operation within the class and lack of organization, requesting that Sara Reusche the owner give me a call back. HEARD NOTHING. I left a message on the website form 6 days later(before the 2nd class). Got a response from a different employee saying they gave my message to Sara and she will reach out to me. Also that they will do what it takes to give me my full refund and make this right. STILL HAVEN'T HEARD BACK AND 3RD CLASS STARTS IN 2 DAYS. 6. requested full refund after I allowed for 2 weeks to hear from someone to fix issues I've had. Still have not heard back from owner and will now have to call my credit card company to explain to them what happened and they will refund me my money and look into it for me. 7. Trainer was unprepared for activities, ran out of supplies, changed activity due to one supply not being on site because someone else apparently took the item from their prior class. And my dog was distracted because I guess they have mice running around. I couldn't figure out what my dog was staring at until I saw a mouse too. 8. Training wasn't accurate. I've spoken with multiple trainers in our area and they said using treats all the time instead of praise words causes dogs to get treat focused and become rude. This explains now why my dog started nipping at my fingers because she was SO focused on the treat and not really the learned behavior. 9. Unfortunately my nerves were so high I got diarrhea 40 minutes into the class. Reiichi showed me where the bathroom was, offered to hold my dog while I was in there. I hurried as fast as I could. I came back out and he said she did great with handling. Then the next activity, he asked owners to leave the room and come back while he holds their dog. This allows the dog to learn how to stay calm when owner leaves and returns. Reiichi got to me on this activity as the last one and Loudly states, "WELL YOU ALREADY HAD A REALLY LONG BREAK, SO I'M GOING TO SKIP YOU." How embarrassing. I couldn't help it if I was about to crap my pants because of the lack of organization. And you didn't have to loudly announce the situation to the ENTIRE CLASS. * I've pulled my dog from classes since after this first class, Am STILL waiting for a full refund, I will wait for a response still, though I no longer require and apology because I've noticed the owners and staff just make an excuse for their behavior and then go on to explain how sorry they are. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND DISRESPECTFUL TO CLIENTS. For your benefit, I really hope you can learn proper business operations, healthy staff to client communication, and train dogs correctly.

Would not recommend this organization. Poor communication - even when I cancelled my first session…read morethey automatically re-scheduled me for next which I couldn't make. Heard their training isn't that good anyway

She does not do well with other dogs so this works perfectly for us. They always go above and beyond to take care of us.

I had used this company occasionally for several years and didn't seem to have any issues though…read moreI'm usually not home when I'm using their services. I had recently gotten a puppy and booked a few ruff breaks for my older dog so I could train and work with my puppy for the 40 minutes, give or take, that the breaks take. In under 10 minutes after taking the older dog outside one day, I heard the walker and dog return already (shorting me more than a half hour walk). I busted the walker and said it's not acceptable, the dog needs his exercise, and she took him back out. I was furious, why does this company advertise for high energy dogs then take him out for under 10 minutes??!! how many times has this happened before? The owner of the company, Bert, was not concerned about it, he said the walker took the dog back outside and has been spoken to so it's not a big deal. Well I'm pleased with the new single owner company I found since that happened. I much prefer knowing who is coming into my home and being able to trust that my dogs are well cared for, not given the minimum (got to go potty) and being severely shorted (no exercise!)
