The noise level at this location is ridiculous. People talk at will, answer phones calls, hold conversations while others are trying to study. Libraries are supposed to be quiet for studies. And the sad part is the librarians sit, watch and do nothing about it. This is sad. I have never seen a library like this. I brought it up to a friend and she said that's why she stopped coming to this branch. read more

Love this library, from the free classes they offer such as STEAM and crochet to the kids corner that includes toys and comfy spots to snuggle up with a book. The employees are always so pleasant and I enjoy all of the resources they provide such as free ABC Mouse accounts for all county enrolled students. We have made this a monthly stop in our rotation for my daughter and I. read more

Coming here with my daughters was a breath of fresh air. It's a section just for kids which I can appreciate that way we aren't a disturbance to everyone in the library. Still have to be quiet just not as quiet. Love the tree that you can sit and read under it. The staff was so kind and we intend to come back and get library cards read more

Update time! As if I didn't love the library before, I love it even more now! If you're a parent and looking for FREE activities for your little, hit up the PGCML website! They have story time several times during the week at various branches and they are what, FREE! My little and I hit up the story time today. They read about three books, had a dance break and visuals! I am super pleased that I found this, as we will definitely coming back! The kids had a wonderful time listening to stories, marching and dancing, so much so that my little came home and was ready for a nap! I love this library, it is so welcoming, the staff are so friendly, and they have activities for smaller children and teens. You can't go wrong coming here! read more

Awesome place perfect for kids and for adults to get a little break the place is spacious and with two floors. This location always has activities like chess and more. It also has study rooms where study groups can meet up. And a small area where food is permitted, 10/10 first floor is accessible friendly not sure about 2nd. Lovely place read more

This library gets 2 stars because it is newly constructed, beautiful and clean. But, this place almost seemed like a hangout spot, or playground for kids, as opposed to a library. I went here to study, and the private rooms are first come, first serve (so get there as soon as they open, as there will be a line), but the rooms are not even close to being sound proof. Sure it's a (completely glass) private study room, but how private is it when I can hear every conversation around me? I'm not exaggerating, I could hear the parent and her kids studying in the room next me, loud and clear. And the library outside the study rooms was not quiet at all, like i said, more of a hangout spot. People were on their cell phones and children were running around. I've given this place 2 chances with high hopes because it would be nice to have a quiet study spot, but unfortunately, the noise level was too much for me. read more

Pleasant experience at the library. I was with my son and looking for a particular book and we were greeted and served a brand new library card while the librarian looked for the book we wanted. The book was recently rented so the librarian had to look hard to find it and after about 5 mins the book was in my car. The library is clean and comfortable and has a great kids section for all to enjoy. I certainly plan to come back read more

What a beautiful library. So modern and high tech. You walk in and you don't feel like your in a library, but maybe an upscale bookstore. Inside you can find meeting rooms upstairs, a internet cafe to your right as soon as you walk in, a very large children's section with a large tree growing in the middle, a couple private study rooms, fax/print services and more. All the librarians were very courteous and helpful whenever we needed their assistance & my boys love coming to this library. You can find us here often browsing for new books to keep our minds creative. read more

Obsessing over this beautiful new addition to the community and yes I am referring to a library. ..more like 5 star library....the decor is amazing, the people are quiet and keep to themselves...everyone whispers which is something I have come to think people couldn't do. This is one fancy library. Lots of space and all the modern conveniences like sofas around a fireplace for that "at home reading a book" feeling, clearly defined spaces for teens, kids and adults, computers and more. The staff is super helpful and the book selection is vast. The only downside for me is that it is a bit of hike from my house. The County is remodeling the one closer to me. South Bowie Branch used to be my favorite Library in the Bowie vicinity . There is a lot of noise with children unattended, people chatting on the phone, and students from school being dropped off there. Some of the employees are sarcastic and agitated when you are asking them for help and references. The printing station constantly has problems and to get your money back from the machine is little to none when the machine made an error. This library is like an indoor playground for children. I would only come here for an informational seminar or workshop upstairs and not for resources and studying and quietness. read more

I used to like this library, bad internet reception and all. The employees are okay. It's the customers that bring this library down. They don't know how to act in a library. During a recemid-afternoon visit in the middle of summer, all quiet rooms are reserved for hours. Folks in the main area are talking on the phone in normal voices. No quiet area was quiet. I found a nice spot in the children's section but no nearby outlets for my laptop. In the cafe area, someone was in virtual meeting. Not good when I needed a QUIET SPACE. I heard a couple a children shouting but it didn't last long. The ones with no class weren't the students -- they were mostly grown-behind women. While the employees were courteous enough, they weren't trying to go tell the noisy folks to quiet down. I gave up and left for a more quiet spot. If you can't reserve a study or quiet room here, I would avoid this place. read more

This is a new facility that is well designed, attractive and has convenient operating hours. They have a nice selection of books, DVDs, audio books and related materials. This is a very comfortable library. It is far superior to the main Bowie library on Route 450 next to the high school. The main library is older and therefore rather dingy. Also, you will sometimes get noisy young people that disturb the peace and quiet. This new facility is almost off the beaten track and in a nicer part or the city. The only criticism I could have is that parking is somewhat limited as the place is so popular and parking spaces can be a chore to find without going out some distance. read more

This is a beautiful facility, and I was impressed looking at it from the outside. I was excited about the endless possibilities to find books I've been really wanting to read. It's just missing one thing: books. Where the hell are all the books? I've been in much smaller libraries with way more books. You'd think a library that size would have way more books, instead all I saw were a bunch of free-loaders using the free internet. Does anybody even read anymore? It only had three sections, fiction, nonfiction, and children's. Apparently whoever runs this library has no concept of the term 'genre'. Please get a selection of books so I have a reason to visit this library again. read more

The library is very nice but the group study rooms are very limited. The system of rerserving the studying room is out of control. The people that work at the library have no control over how to maintain availability of the rooms. I would recommend working at the local coffee shop. At least there, you stay as long as you want. read more

This place is great! It is clean, quiet, and has many different activities for children as well as an activity room! I always make this a stop in my schedule during the week! The librarians are very helpful. My son has gone to story time on Monday mornings and the teacher is unbelievable, she somehow has the ability to get 30 kids to sing, dance and pay attention to her stories! She has such charisma I am jealous:) This is a place for all, you will not be disappointed ! read more

The South Bowie Library is one of my favorite places to visit in the area. I like the relaxing environment and spacious layout of the facility. Access to information is crucial in the 21st century. I'm glad the South Bowie library exists to help fill the need. read more

Wonderful sun filled space. I love to use the quiet area to study---it has comfortable seats and lots of windows for natural light. Beautiful craftsman architecture with a large fireplace and seating areas designed for relaxing and reading your favorite books. Everything you want in a library! read more
