This multi-use path/bike trail is adjacent to South Boulder Creek at the eastern edge of Boulder. It joins the Boulder Creek Path to the north, is paved from that point south to a point just beyond the Bobolink parking area and then runs further south as a dirt trail to the Marshall Rd access point and parking. That dirt section is my favorite mountain bike ride actually in close to the city and on my taxpayer funded open space. Unfortunately, this rainy spring has currently closed it. Hopefully it will dry up a bit soon and re-open.
It is a fun ride except for the area at the north end where it passes a bit west of the Western Disposal facility which can be a bit noisy and unpleasant if the wind is blowing the wrong way. But just look to the west for a beautiful view as you go by. There is also a section of dirt trail that passes through some ranch fields before and after the underpass at US 36 and at some times of year there may be cows nearby so be sure to close all gates securely.
You will see birds and prairie dogs, as well as humans walking, running and cycling, with or without their four legged friends. read more
