Love the LA lady who taught my 1-time wheel throwing class, she was very step-by-step and good at de-mystifying the process. The studio space is good for group activities, the wheels were clean and not overly twitchy (going super fast or slow randomly when changing speed). They email you when they're done firing/glazing your pieces. Love the green glaze, our pieces came out really well!

This is a quiet, spacious studio in the heart of Mountain View. I was so excited to find a studio close to me, but beware that their one-time workshops sell out fast! We signed up for a holiday beginner friendly workshop -- Prachi was our instructor and she was very kind and helpful. I think she ended up helping me center my clay at least twice haha! Since it was a beginner class but only a few hours long, it was hard to cover so much material. Prachi tried her best but I can see why the 6-week long classes are better for refining the basics. If you're looking just for a fun class though, the one time workshops are great! Thanks South Bay Ceramics!

You get to follow the journey of your piece from wedging your clay, throwing, trimming, and glazing, which you wouldn't get to do in a one time class.

I hadn't painted in decades and was a bit…read morenervous to use that muscle again, but the class is structured in such a way that it starts with the basics and accelerates at a steady pace. I learned new techniques and Maria gently pushed us to do our best work in each class. By the end of the session I had completed 4 paintings, one of which is hanging on my wall at home - something I never thought would happen. As a mom of 2 I cherished the time to lose myself in painting once a week and appreciated the daytime hours so I could attend while my kids were in school. I'll definitely be signing up for another class soon!

Respectfully, within our exchanges, you did not address my concerns, you doubled-down and responded in a defensive way, as you are doing in your response here. You responded to what you thought my concerns were, and sent the complaint directly to the teacher with no context, leading to a situation wherein my concern was not only not addressed, it was inflamed and taken out of context. It felt like being ganged up on. The difference in the public response here, however, is the apology. Offering to essentially boot us from the class is not akin to working with us towards a solution to keep us as customers. It reads as, "my way or the highway", which is not exactly a great way to deal with children and families. Notably inappropriate is also posting the status of my payment method on a globally public thread. Highly unprofessional. It shouldn't matter, since you were going to refund me anyway. I did not receive an email beforehand that the card didn't go through, either. We have been attending classes at this location for months with no issue with payment, and attended one class that I found out through this exchange was unpaid for due to a card being compromised. Is it not your job to inform people when their payment doesn't go through? Why did you deem it important to publicly shame/blast someone for their payment information? Very odd.

Teacher Robin has been wonderful. She is incredibly patient with the kids and does a great job keeping them engaged and focused throughout the session. The progression of the class is also thoughtfully designed, starting from basic tracing and moving to learning how to color properly, stay within the lines, and color in a consistent direction. It is impressive how much the kids pick up in such a short time. We have also had a great experience with the communication and scheduling. Both the office and Robin are very responsive, and everything has been smooth and easy from the start. Overall, it has been a fantastic experience and we are very happy with the class.

It has been such a positive part of my kids' lives, they didn't just become more skilled artists, but also developed genuine love for art as a way to express themselves.

When you arrive, the staff are super welcoming and walk you through the candle-making process step by step. It's beginner-friendly, so even if you've never done anything like this before, it's easy to follow along. There are tons of scents to choose from and you can mix and match a few to make something unique, or pick one signature scent you love. You also get to control how strong or subtle the fragrance is, which is a nice personal touch. The space itself is clean, well-organized, and smells amazing! Plan for about two hours total: the first hour is for scent choosing, instructions, and pouring your candle, and the second is for drying time. During that time, you can explore nearby shops or grab coffee in downtown Mountain View. When you come back, you can decorate your candle with labels or small touches to make it gift-ready or keep for yourself. Overall, it's a relaxing, creative experience that's perfect for date nights, small group outings, or even solo time if you want to unwind and make something special. Highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for a fun, hands-on local activity!
