You make your way from room to room on the first floor. The day we were here, there were books in the front with the author present to sign them (gift number one), hand knit scarves next in line with the maker present (gifts number two and three), handmade earrings further back (gift number four), and artwork hung on the walls in the hallway. Everywhere I turned there were eye-catching handmade pieces. Definitely on my list to re-visit for those one-of-a kind locally made items.

However, their jewelry is priced low enough that my mom can indulge every once in a while. If you're into locally made, handcrafted art, it's definitely worth a look. The place is rather inconspicuous on the outside but on the inside it's a beautiful Victorian era house brimming with local art and behind the counter is a very nice lady that'll answer any questions you might have.

Then I ran across a gorgeous mosaic by Rachel Sagers and snatched it right up! The woman who helped me with my purchase was friendly and made sure that my art was carefully wrapped and ready for transit. The feel in the gallery is spacious and welcoming, and the art was so unlike other things I've seen. Some items are pretty pricey but it's great to browse. I would come here again for sure.

These exhibits will rotate from local up and comers to established artists for many years. Beyond the gallery this is a phenomenal place for all of your framing needs. As my wife and I travel to various destinations local art is our souvenir of choice with our walls in our house telling a story of our adventures. Joy does an incredible job understanding our style and willingly accepting any challenge we throw at her. We have now had close to 20 pieces framed with little direction other than big picture vision. She has never failed to delight us!! Lastly, Joy the owner is reason enough to visit. She is a wonderful and welcoming host that could gladly have you extend your planned 10 minute visit to over an hour. The conversation and friendliness are always a highlight. Technology usually plays a factor in most of the exhibits I've seen here, and illuminated displays are the most common. It's all free, too. On the outside, make sure you notice Flow, a light installation by Erwin Redl, and 168 Lightbulbs, by Jim Cambell. Take the escalator down a floor to see Sol Lewitt's Thirteen Geometric Figures (1984).

While there is a lot of signage, I still feel it is well hidden because it is above the T station and people think the only thing there is the T. You need to take an elevator up to the exhibit from an entrance on the side. The exhibits vary greatly and change regularly, so if you don't enjoy what is currently there, the next one might be of interest. Still, it is worth visiting because it is free and you might end up discovering your new favorite artist or art medium. They do take donations, but they are not required.

She had great ideas that we never would've come up with if we'd tried to design it ourselves. It took four or five days, and the price was very reasonable. When we picked up the framed piece, they had created a pocket in the back and tucked in some information about the magazine (Harper's) explaining its cultural and historical significance. It was very thoughtful and we really appreciated it. While we were in the gallery for framing, we loved looking around at the paintings. They are striking, lovely, and accessibly priced. We visited during the pandemic (December 2020) and were grateful and at ease because of the common-sense precautions they took. Brenda wore a mask the entire time, without mentioning it. She took care to stand back from us as we looked at the framing materials. She propped open the door for air flow.

One of the best rooms in this space is a walk-in installation that feels like entering another world: maybe another planet, maybe another plane of reality, maybe a hidden portion of your own subconscious. In this room you will find a series of tubes, television screens, and neon lights, as well as a battered, graffitied copy of A.A.'s Living Sober that serves as a guest book, illustrating the ethos that nothing is sacred and everything is free game for the act of creation by collage. But it's not just a gallery; it's a living, breathing community hub. I've walked over for everything from super chill community yoga sessions and intensely focused figure drawing classes to packed open mics, live band showcases, and the legendary Lawrenceville Art Crawl after-parties. This is the largest of the Cultural Trust's galleries, and it's easiest to get to, it's highly visible and located on the first floor. Although a popular destination on the gallery tours, it's worth going back to see the exhibits when it's not so crowded. Fridays and Saturdays they have extended hours, so it's easy to combine a trip with a live performance and/or dinner.
