Unique. Parts of it are really pretty and parts of it are messy. Worth stopping to visit if you are in the area.

What a delightful gem! After a visit to the National Aviary, we had some time before our lunch venue opened so we stopped by Randyland. What whimsical, bright, and fun place to visit. There is so much to see and reflect on from quotes to art to writing. I appreciate how Randy has worked to transform his neighborhood. There is so much to see and it's free! Drop in or stay for a while, there's much to see and delight the eye! Some of the recycled objects took me on a walk down memory lane.

Such a fun stop when visiting Pittsburgh! A friend recommended it to me and here I am recommending it to anyone who reads this as well. If you are into quirky, colorful, and free fun - this is worth a stop! We parked on the street across from the house and wandered around out back for about 45 minutes. There is so much to take in...I'm sure you could go 50 times and notice something different each time. So glad people like Randy exist to bring a little more color and whimsy into life. :)

Randyland was such a fun little detour from a couple concert I was going to. I am so glad that I got to experience it. It was so colorful and bright and there was so much to look at. We met Randy and he was such a nice guy.

Well this place is a quite an experience! Tons of prices that go together or not! Painted mannequins, musical instruments, and toys everywhere. I liked the musical aspect of jazz playing as you walked through. To appreciate it, you have to read the signs and literature throughout. Keeping these things out of a landfill and using them for art! Super colorful!

The world needs more Randylands. Situated in the Mexican War Streets neighborhood of Pittsburgh and a short walk away from the Mattress Factory, this open-air, free (donations accepted) museum is truly a labor of love. It's so eclectic, funky, and fun. I spent so much time snapping photos and walking around. I also bought a magnet and donated via Venmo (Randy operates by the honor system). I love everything this place stands for and would recommend it to anyone visiting Pittsburgh!

To see a collection of quirky art, go to Randyland. To be inspired, visit Randyland. After visiting the nearby Mattress Factory, my family of three walked to Randyland, a house bakyard filled with toys, sculptures, art, and more. If you're lucky, Randy himself will be there and he loves greeting every guest. Randy started collecting art to help beautiful the neighborhood years ago. It's turned into an outdoor gallery visited by many and inspired an entire neighborhood to reuse and beautify where you live. Our daughter LOVED the toy section and played for an hour in the sand and finding all the different toys scattered throughout. Randyland is a must-visit when in Pittsburgh! Admission is free.

Such a weird, quirky place, organized chaos at its finest. You could spend as little or as much time as you could ever want here. So much to look at and appreciate here. Great undertones of acceptance and unity throughout the art. It's a great reminder that being weird and unique is a gift and an art.

Colorful, overwhelming (in a good way), positive vibes...some might call it hoarding, but others call it art. I suppose it can be both. Regardless, this is a cool spot to stop by on a nice day to observe. If you're lucky, maybe you'll get to meet Randy as well. We didn't get to meet Randy or go inside on this occasion, but I was uplifted by all the positive messaging and inspired by the reuse of all old recycled materials for decor. Art with a message, and the price is free, so you can't beat that!

Randyland always seemed to come up on my searches for things to see or do in Pittsburgh so I had to come by and check it out. It is definitely nothing I ever experienced before and it is fun, wacky and colorfully whimsical. It's not a place you should drive hours and hours to see but if you are in the area definitely stop by. It's a colorful eclectic collection of abstract art through the eyes of Randy made up of things people often discard as trash and he turns it into art on LSD (haha!)

Daniel B.

An eclectic outdoor exhibit of art, which is definitely worth stopping in at! Visiting is free of charge, and you're transported into a different world filled with color, whimsy, and positivity! Your visit likely won't take more than 10-15 minutes, but it's definitely one of the most unique experiences you'll have in Pittsburgh!

I love everything about Randy and Randyland. It's free to go to as long as the gates are open (which they usually are during daylight). Even on the gloomiest day, Randyland will brighten everything up. But it's more than just an artistic space with a lot of colors and chaos. The meaning behind Randyland is the true gift to the Northside. And if you are lucky, you can meet Randy himself and he will tell you all about it! I have a whole new love for what Randy has brought to the northside and his message is so positive. Randyland is truly a one of a kind place.

Definitely worth a visit if you're visiting Pittsburgh. The colorful displays are certainly a site to see.

There was a sign on the corner of Butler and 43rd indicating a cookie stop was down this street. Am I ever glad I followed the sign; otherwise, I would have remained on the main drag of Butler and never ventured into this lovely oasis. It's in an old house that is charming in itself. You make your way from room to room on the first floor. The day we were here, there were books in the front with the author present to sign them (gift number one), hand knit scarves next in line with the maker present (gifts number two and three), handmade earrings further back (gift number four), and artwork hung on the walls in the hallway. Everywhere I turned there were eye-catching handmade pieces. Definitely on my list to re-visit for those one-of-a kind locally made items.

You wont find this place unless you see their sandwich board situated on Butler Street. It's tucked away on 43rd Street and looks exactly like the rest of the houses on that block. Inside you'll find a variety of local art including paintings, pottery and jewelry. I'm not much of an art buyer and, while I really like their stuff, I simply can't afford it. However, their jewelry is priced low enough that my mom can indulge every once in a while. If you're into locally made, handcrafted art, it's definitely worth a look. The place is rather inconspicuous on the outside but on the inside it's a beautiful Victorian era house brimming with local art and behind the counter is a very nice lady that'll answer any questions you might have.

Then I ran across a gorgeous mosaic by Rachel Sagers and snatched it right up! The woman who helped me with my purchase was friendly and made sure that my art was carefully wrapped and ready for transit. The feel in the gallery is spacious and welcoming, and the art was so unlike other things I've seen. Some items are pretty pricey but it's great to browse. I would come here again for sure.

Joy does an incredible job understanding our style and willingly accepting any challenge we throw at her. We have now had close to 20 pieces framed with little direction other than big picture vision. She has never failed to delight us!! Lastly, Joy the owner is reason enough to visit. Technology usually plays a factor in most of the exhibits I've seen here, and illuminated displays are the most common. It's all free, too. The galleries are located above the Wood Street Station Downtown where you'll access the gallery from the side of the station- you won't go inside as if you were heading to the T stop. The galleries are located on the above two floors so it's probably best to work your way from the 3rd floor down, but that's not what I did... The Gallery FYI is not open Monday. The exhibit we saw was Nonotak, which were a row of diamond-shaped lights hung from the ceiling which had lighting attached to it which seemed to move along to the sound playing from the speakers. It gave it a trippy feeling almost like a pumping heart. Also, it made for some really cool photographs. The other portion of the exhibit immersed you even more into the artwork You were able to step inside the piece of glass which felt like infinity lights covering you, giving you the feeling of what could only be described as "free falling". It was so cool to look around, but not down as it could easily freak you out if you aren't a fan of that kind of stuff. It was really cool to see the exhibits up close. What I loved is that the exhibits didn't take long to get through but they were both equally as fascinating. There were no crowds so we were able to take our time. The staff on each floor were super nice. And it was just a really cool day to spend an afternoon while exploring the city. Highly recommend checking out whatever exhibit is here while you're in town.

A pleasant fellow let me look about and we chatted about this and that. The collection here is rather eclectic and spread among many themes - and there's a lot of Pgh sports stuff. She had great ideas that we never would've come up with if we'd tried to design it ourselves. It took four or five days, and the price was very reasonable. When we picked up the framed piece, they had created a pocket in the back and tucked in some information about the magazine (Harper's) explaining its cultural and historical significance. It was very thoughtful and we really appreciated it. While we were in the gallery for framing, we loved looking around at the paintings. They are striking, lovely, and accessibly priced. We visited during the pandemic (December 2020) and were grateful and at ease because of the common-sense precautions they took. Brenda wore a mask the entire time, without mentioning it. She took care to stand back from us as we looked at the framing materials. She propped open the door for air flow.
