I moved to Phoenix in January and since they don't have 24 Hour Fitness in town, I was looking for…read morea new gym. I ended up deciding on Mountainside Fitness. The Desert Ridge location is closest to me, but I was in the mood for some variety so I checked out the Frank Lloyd Wright location on a Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. And boy was I happy I did! Compared to the location I typically go to, this on is roughly double the size. Which is very much a good thing for a gym. It means more room in between machines, less human traffic jams, and better amenities. There's a full-size basketball court, while my location only has a half court. The basketball court doubles as a pickle ball court...though that's not a plus for me. I'm one of the leading pickle ball haters in the country. And here's the kicker: they have an infrared sauna. I personally have never seen this at a gym. It's cooler than a dry sauna, so this was a pleasant surprise. If you have an upgraded membership, they also have two cold plunge baths. My only criticism? The water pressure at one of the water fountains is so low that not enough water comes out so you're worried your mouth will actually touch the metal as you're trying to drink. And if someone is filling up their water bottle at the water fountain next to it, no water will com out of yours. You would think this is something they could fix. Like the other Mountainside Fitness locations I have been to, this gym is clean (locker room, showers, and bathroom included), well-equipped, offers complimentary towels, mouthwash, and body lotion, has a cafe with smoothies and snacks, and more. They have a huge parking lot, so I didn't have trouble finding a spot (albeit not close). It's easier to park here than some of their other locations where the lot is smaller. For the money you pay for a membership, Mountainside Fitness is hands down the best gym I have ever been to. Their presence on Yelp proves it. Rarely does a gym have a rating of 4.0 or above. Mountainside Fitness has that.

I've trained at a lot of gyms in Scottsdale, but nothing comes close to this place. Zach and his…read moreteam of fitness experts are the real deal! Zach is easily one of the best trainers I've ever worked with. He actually listens. You tell him your goals (whether you want to lose 30 lbs, pack on muscle, get off blood pressure meds, or just move without pain), and he builds everything around YOU. No cookie-cutter programs here. His knowledge is ridiculous: strength training, Olympic lifting, powerlifting, mobility work, stretching, nutrition, meal planning... the guy is a walking encyclopedia with years of real experience and certifications to back it up. The gym itself is spotless, never overcrowded, and has such a welcoming vibe. Everyone who trains here is friendly and supportive; it feels like a community, not a meat market. If you're tired of big-box gyms where you're just a number, do yourself a favor and train here. Whether you're a total beginner or a seasoned athlete, he'll meet you where you are and get you results safely and sustainably. Hands down the best training experience in Scottsdale. Highly recommend!

I can't say enough great things about my personal trainer Zach. He has truly understood my injuries…read moreand worked with me every step of the way to build strength and confidence again. After breaking my elbow and dealing with ongoing pain and stiffness, I wasn't sure how far I could get -- but he customized every workout to support my rehab, protect my joints, and help me get stronger safely. Not only am I feeling better, but I'm stronger than I've been in a long time. He pays attention to form, always checks in on how I'm feeling, and makes adjustments that actually work. If you're looking for a Scottsdale personal trainer who listens, cares, and focuses on building strength the right way, he's the one. Highly recommend!
