Many specialties on the menu, I ordered: Tom Kha Gai: Thai soup with fresh chicken, mushrooms, baby corn, string beans and green bell pepper. This is non spicy Mulligatawny: Indian curry soup with fresh chicken and baked apples. Topped with dried saffron. Comes with vasnati rice. Comes with basmati rice. I read their "Spring Specials" Board and saw the Karotten Suppe and decided to sit for a spell and enjoy a bowl of one of my favorite soups. As the name suggests, Zoup - they sorta specialize in soups I suppose, (as well as other things I'm sure) with seasonal offerings/variations. I initially wanted carrot and ginger but I opted for the carrot-mango-orange variant. What's cool is that they offered to add some fresh ginger in as well. Win! Win!! In addition to my soup, I also ordered a Panache which is just a beer with a lime soda topper that's pretty refreshing. The staff was very courteous and helpful as well as linguistically patient with me as we both tried to communicate with one another. The ambiance is traditional Cafe European with a nice airy seating area to people watch without feeling like people are on top of you. So, if you are in Zurich and a soup person then this is the place for you.

However, it was in the 80s, and I wasn't about to eat soup on a hot day. Our CHF22 chicken dish came with spicy chili chicken, with ear mushrooms and rice. As in most Swiss restaurant, dish comes with rice, but only half a small bowl for the two of us. The chicken was fresh and fell off the bone, using a chopstick in each hand to peel off. Excellent dish, but could use more white rice. Seven steamed shrimp dumplings came with our CHF18 shrimp dumpling dish. Standard presentation in a steamed bamboo pot, with the shrimp tasty and not rubbery. Had to pay CHF4, or $4.28, for two glasses of tap water. Will remember next time to bring my own water to guzzle down prior to stepping into a restaurant in Switzerland. Authentic Chinese food served here. How do I know it's authentic? Any time they serve meat dishes with the bones still in them, in a sauce, it's authentic, as Americans don't want to mess around with bones in sauces. Also, only Chinese eating here.

This cozy spot offers a wide selection of delicious fondues with unique flavors. Make a reservation for the patio as the restaurant's prime location gives you an amazing view of the Chapel Bridge and Old Town Lucerne. Our classic cheese fondue was tasty, but I loved the raclette! What is raclette? Raclette is a Swiss dish in which a wheel of semi-soft cow's‑milk cheese, traditionally from Valais, is heated and the melted layer is scraped onto potatoes, bread, and pickled vegetables. Raclette refers both to the cheese and the dish. The name comes from the French racler, meaning "to scrape," describing how the melted cheese is served. Our traditional raclette had a wedge of cheese that was heated on a special tabletop electric raclette machine. It was served with bowls filled with boiled red potatoes, cornichons, tiny, pickled pearl onions, steamed veggies, cubes of bread and sliced fruits. Loved the melted cheese that topped the fruits, veggies, pickles, potatoes and bread. Note: Although they do have chocolate fondue here, many Swiss Fondue restaurants do not.

She was very helpful in deciding what to order, but she disappeared the rest of our meal. It was unfortunate because we wanted to get more bread, potatoes and other things, but decided against it since she was not available to ask for those. The food itself was decent. My favorite fondue cheese was the herb/spiced one. It was very flavorful. The restaurant was very busy and the staff were frantic the entire time we were there. The food was good but was hoping for better service :(
