We had our camera stolen, an expensive one. It was our final show night. Curtain in six hours. Last minute rental for a reasonable price. They were attentive and easy to work with. Drove over to brooklyn and picked it up only to discover a dead battery and no charger. Normally, this is where a review would go south, but after calling and explaining the situation, they immediately sent two full batteries and chargers in an Uber at their expense right to our venue in 30 minutes. Thats unheard of customer service. Will gladly recommend and do business with again. read more

Soundhouse is the best. I am a DJ who does 60+ weddings per year in NYC. If I need extra lights or speakers, I always get them from Soundhouse. Ask for Cary D, the sales manager. He will take good care of you! And if you drive, there is always room to park your vehicle right in front. read more

The motor on my Technics 1200 turntable broke and, while I've had it for over a decade, I wanted to see if I could get it fixed instead of shelling out a ton of cash for a new one. I'd heard about Soundhouse and decided to drop by. Williamsburg is usually a nightmare for parking, so I was pleasantly surprised that I found a spot right away. John is the worker who helped me out and not only was he extremely friendly, it was clear that he is beyond knowledgeable. He was able to diagnose the problem in minutes and said he would be able to fix it. I know Sound House is a go-to place for bigger jobs working on professional club equipment, so I expected my repair to take a week or so (my turntable is for personal use)... so my jaw dropped when John told me he could have my turntable ready in two or three hours. It says a lot when a company values ALL customers, not just the ones who are going to bring in a ton of money (not to mention this kind of customer service is rare nowadays). I returned the same evening and, not only did John have my turntable fixed as promised, he didn't even charge me full price for the parts (and no, it wasn't just him telling me he gave me a discount... my table had been broken for quite awhile and I've done extensive research, so I know what I should have paid for the part. He definitely charged me less than he could have). He also took the time to explain what went wrong for it to break in the first place and gave me in depth detail about how to maintain it from here on out. John also told me to give him a call if I ever have any questions in the future. My turntable works like new and I couldn't be happier with my experience at Soundhouse. I will certainly be returning in the future and I'd definitely recommend this place to everyone. read more

I used SoundHouse also known as DJParentals for a rental for my wedding recently. We rented two speakers, a subwoofer, 2 wireless mikes, and some lighting equipment. Despite calling these guys 10 times to make sure that everything would be OK on the day of the wedding, they brought the equipment without a mixer. I am a lay person when it comes to DJ equipment, and although our friend offered to DJ at our wedding, I was making all of the arrangements with SoundHouse myself. During the last conversation I had with them, I asked if all of the "wires" would come with the equipment and if our DJ would have any trouble hooking it up. They reassured me that it would be no problem, a piece of cake. Fast forward to the day of the wedding. The equipment is delivered. My DJ has his laptop out. He starts discussing setup with the guy from SoundHouse. My DJ has brought his own wires and is looking at how to hook his laptop up to the speakers and the subwoofer. SoundHouse guy says, don't you have a mixer? The mixer is mentioned for the first time even though I had been on the phone with them all week. I'm not sure why they automatically assumed that we had a mixer or why they didn't mention that we would need one. I'm renting equipment that costs 600 dollars, how am I supposed to use it if one of the integral parts without which it does not function is missing? No apology is offered. The guy from SoundHouse mentions something halfheartedly about going back to get a mixer for us but that we can probably get one faster ourselves. My friend has to run to Radio Shack last minute to buy a mixer, even though the ceremony is to begin shortly. In addition, the mixer was an extra 200 dollars on top of the 600 dollars we were already paying SoundHouse to rent the equipment. Unacceptable. I wouldn't rent from these guys again. Also, beware of their contract. Read it carefully. You're signing a legal document that says you are contractually obligated to pay for any damage to the equipment (which in our case wouldve come out to $6,500) at any time during the night. Even though SoundHouse was delivering and picking up our equipment, they refused to do a soundcheck before or after the wedding to make sure everything was functioning properly. In effect, this made us responsible for any damage sustained to the equipment between time of pickup by SoundHouse and time of arrival at their location. It also gave them the ability to say, well your equipment may have been working at the wedding but it's not working now at our offices, you'd better pay for it. Thank god they didn't do this to us but their contract is written to account for that eventuality, to the detriment of the client. My DJ also thought their refusal to do soundchecks on delivery and on pick up was super shady. Their excuse was that they had a lot of deliveries to make. OK, but I'm the client and I'm going to have to fork over $6,500 to you if you tell me something is wrong with the equipment when it arrives at your warehouse. And no one has any way of knowing when that something went wrong if you don't do soundchecks. Basically, I rented the equipment because I really needed it for my wedding but the whole time, because of the way their contract is worded and because of their refusal to check the equipment before and after they carted it away, I was worried that I would get a phone call from them on Monday saying that there was something wrong with the equipment and that I was somehow liable for that. Also, their neglecting to mention or include a mixer was unacceptable. It left us in a bind, last minute, and on the day of our wedding. That is no way to do business. Thank god my friend was resourceful and was able to get down to Radio Shack and back in time. If he hadn't, it would've been a disaster. read more

These guys were great. I had a question regarding my turntable. I had a feeling it didn't need repair but wanted to confirm. The looked it over for free confirming that no repair was necessary and threw me a cable I needed for $10. They could have chosen to check in my equipment before looking and thereby collecting $40 but they did me a solid. It's things like this that keep me going to independent stores. read more

I was having a rooftop bday party & music is obviously key to throwing amazing parties. My friends and I were stressing about not having a loud enough speaker. Thankfully my brilliant BF told me you could rent speakers, I was baffled because I never even thought of that idea. I found soundhouse through YELP & the other amazing reviews werent lying! I picked up the speaker from their BK location, it came in a case so it was easier to carry (although very heavy but thats what my bf is for!) it came with all chords necessary, I could plug it into my phone or even a laptop. The price was also extremely fair. Definitely recommend!!! read more

I have never had a problem when I have gone here to get gear. Sometimes I make reservations for equipment they don't always have it because it was broken by the prior Renter they always replace it with something comparable at no extra charge. They guys there are all real cool and laid back. They know their equipment, can offer recommendations and really good advice. Ill be back. read more

these guys have repaired tech 1200s for me 3 times. new rca, new ground wiring, lamp replacement and one unstable tone arm that was causing a channel short. It's nice to have a BK spot that you can get equipment repairs w/ decent turn around time. This place is no doubt run by immature, poorly managed service people... not at all concerned with customer satisfaction. after spending 2 weeks and hundreds of dollars to have equipment cleaned and repaired from liquid spillage, they called to tell us the job was complete. Our company picked up the equipment and the liquid was still all over it. Soundhouse's excuse? "If you want all the liquid removed, you'll have to pay us for more labor." WHAT!? Amateurs. Would strongly urge people to find a better repair shop. They also exclaimed they "didn't care about bad reviews" or "losing people's business." Good luck running a service business with poor service in this economy. Go elsewhere. read more
