As long as the wait can be to see the doctor, I hope that it's because she is spending time with her patients. But yes, you do wait a really long time. We were there for an hour and a half and most of that was just waiting. A second doctor to the practice would definitely alleviate the long waits patients and their families have. That said, the doctor literally saw us for maybe 3 minutes. She checked my child with her stethoscope and that's pretty much it. In the pre-check in forms, I even wrote my concerns that my son might be autistic but didn't say it was anything to be worried about. This also told me that because I had to bring it up that she either never read my check-in forms or didn't care to discuss it. Almost everyone who has met my kid, including past teachers, and interacted with him expressed their concerns that he might on the autism spectrum. Dr. Dong is nice but that doesn't make up for lacking in other areas. read more

I had an extremely frustrating experience with Sounds Pediatrics and feel it's important to share my concerns: On June 25, 2024, I requested an urgent appointment for my severely ill 9-month-old child via the health portal. The next day, June 26, 2024, I received a callback at 9:13 am offering an 11:45 am appointment. I asked for 10 minutes to confirm with the child's mother if she could bring him in. The mother called back shortly after to reschedule the appointment to 3:15 pm, instructing the clinic not to notify me, the father and initiator of the appointment, which resulted in unnecessarily prolonging my child's suffering by an additional 4 hours. This miscommunication and disregard for parental involvement in appointment scheduling are concerning and unacceptable. I expected better coordination and communication from a pediatric clinic entrusted with children's health. I hope my feedback prompts Sounds Pediatrics to improve their appointment scheduling processes for the benefit of all patients and their families. read more

Update: Now my baby is 10 months old and Dr Dong is such an angel!! She saw us today again last minute because my baby has a fever and grew some rashes all over her body that I was really concerned about. Dr. Dong responded back to me so quickly and squeezed me in. She really is such an amazing, caring doctor. I wish every doctor is like her. Thank you sooooooooooooOoooOoooOoooOoo much Dr. Dong!! Ok Where do i begin? The please save yourself some time and find a reliable and better facility!! If your thinking of bringing your kid here please read!! Its long but will be worth it i promise you! When we first start to see Dr. Dong my Daughter is just about two months we change Doctor due to Insurance anyways we already went to a bad start with one of her front desk, (there is two 1.Asian lady 2.Spanish lady) the Number 2 is ver rude and a snob didnt really remember exactly what happen but all i recall she was extremely rude that on our first day i already had a conversation about it with Dr.Dong. Upon speaking to her she also mentioned about her bad review in yelp and shes glad that we ignore and still come! (Yes i should have listen to YELP review the first time) After that incident the front desk change her behavior towards us (i hope to everyone tho) i didn't have any major problem until this year JANUARY 2020 when i bring my daughter as usual to get check since she has a mild cough i notice when they call us to the room they didnt do any cleaning whatsoever, because i saw that the last patient just walk out of the room when they call us to go in, i hold on to my child so she wont touch anything but as soon as doctor comes she made My daughter lay down on the unchange paper bedding and prolly never wipe bed! Long story short after the check up we went home and stay home. After 2-3days i saw signs of HFMD on her i knew right away she got it at Dr.Dongs office! I left Dr. Dong an email to let her know my concerns and hope that from now on to clean room every after each patient. After a week i got a call feom them and stating My Daughter cannot be seen anymore because shes no longer Dr.Dongs patient! I call them and ask why they claim it was my insurance decision which i know is a lie when i told her that my insurance never change my daughter care because theres no sense on changing it because there is no changes in our part! Im so upset that this is how they handle the situation instead of improving cleanliness they kick my daughter out!!! So upset on how they dont care about hygiene when they suppose to be the one implementing it!! But im glad in a way! So i can find another doctor who will best take care of my daughter!! read more

I was with Kaiser before I found Dr Qing Dong. All my 3 kids go to Dr Qing Dong. I love that she is very attentive and caring. She is also very responsive to any questions that I have. I feel assured that all my kids health are in the hand of a great pediatrician. There were several incidents that I need to see her on emergency case and she was able to squeeze me and comfort me that all is good. Overall I am very satisfied with her and her wonderful staff as well. read more

We are leaving this practice. As a mother of a Special Needs son with a rare genetic disorder, I felt that I was never being "heard" by Dr. Dong. My husband and I would express our concerns about our son and she would usually just go with her own course of action with little regard to our concerns. We know our son very well and advocate for his well being always - and to not be heard is very frustrating especially when respiratory issues can be fatal for him. I will not jeopardize my son's health due to a doctor not listening to our concerns or our history of his past health. If you have a special needs kiddo - I do not recommend this practice. read more

I was about to write a very negative review last week but I waited for a week because I wanted to be objective and don't want to write reviews when I was still furious about the horrible experience I had in here. First of all, I'm a Chinese. I know the doctor is Cantonese Chinese. You may think it's ridiculous that I could be discriminated, but yes, I'm 100% sure I had been discriminated and my daughter and myself deserved way better service just like some other patients did! The Dr Qing Dong (yes, this is her full name) treated us like we never pay. We always feel like we were begging her to answer necessary questions about my daughter's health situation. I only have a new born daughter who is now 7 month old and I have been seeing Dong Qing for over 6 months, so the horrible service I got was not one time, not two times, not accidental. She have been rushing us every single time and I have never had an appointment that lasted longer than 8 minutes even when my daughter needed four vaccine shots and also sick and needed to be treated! How can you be so rushing Doctor?!! I came here from NYC, and my previous doctor was super super busy but never rushed me, and appreciated that. But Dr Dong, you are not even busy and you would rather chat with your white patient talking about which book you like, than seeing my sick daughter! Why was that? Why???? We were sent out after you gave my daughter shots but when I asked you questions because my daughter kept coughing, then you said my appointment was already over because it was supposed to be only about taking vaccine shots. Excuse me, Doctor, my baby is sick, why can't you just give me one minute from your precious time? You have the time to show the other patients (white couple) your book selection, but not one minute to talk to me! Whenever I contact the Dr. or her staff using the patient portal, they respond in less then 24 hours (mostly just a few hours). I have been taking my son to see them for only 7 months or so. I chose Dr. Dong for my first born based on the rave reviews on Yelp. My experience, however, was not positive. Our first appointment was fine. Your experience starts off satisfactory as they are trying to keep you as a patient. We stuck with Dr. Dong for three months and then switched to another pediatrician who is much better and far more professional. Dr. Dong is competent and knowledgeable but I feel like they over book appointments to a point where she was rushing during her time with us. You will not be seen during your scheduled appointment time. Be prepared to wait 30+ minutes to be seen. This is unacceptable especially when you have a new born in tow. I tried to avoid this by booking the first appointment of the day and Dr. Dong arrived 20 minutes late. How unprofessional! To top it all off when I requested a copy of my child's records they asked "Are you switching doctors?.....That will be $15." I understand that there is a fee to make copies but our file wasn't even more than 20 pages! I later found out a colleague of mine also chose Dr. Dong for his child's pediatrician. He also complained of poor service and was in search of someone new. read more

I am a host mom this year to some high school students from China. One of the students needed several school vaccines, has had some minor medical problems, and minor injuries during her stay with us. When she first arrived her English was poor and we needed to find a pediatric practice with Mandarin language translation. I have been so fortunate to find Sound Pediatrics and Dr. Dong. She is an excellent pediatrician, her office staff is friendly and small so it was not overwhelming for our student. We have consistently been able to get a timely appointment for our needs. I stand by my 5 star review for Dr Dong! Would give her more stars if I coulld. Her office has gotten busier, because she is a great and caring pediatrician!! Dr Dong always checks in with us to let us know of the wait. I don't think they overbooked appointments because I know they fit in patients with urgent matters. I was one of them for a few occasions. My daughter had an UTI with uncontrolled fever and I was so nervous. Dr Dong fitted my daughter in the same day despite her packed schedule and treated my baby. On top of that, she answered all my follow-up questions via text. I understand that Dr Dong's day appointments are not just all routine visits. I'm sure there are more serious cases where Dr Dong needs to spend more time to explain or just more TLC to the panicky parents. If I were the parent with a serious case, which in fact I had been, I would appreciate that the waiting parents to cut Dr Dong some slack. As so many other ppl pointed out - this doctor is not patient and not thorough with babies and kids. We moved from NY, or old doctor was also busy. However he is so nice and thorough when he sees each kid, even that meant we need to wait 20-30min. With this Dr Dong, even you have an appt, 1hr wait is quite normal - I don't mind wait if she sees my kid thoroughly, the thing is you wait for more than one hr, she rushed you off and jumped to another patient. During our first visit, we were there just let her see my daughter's skin, she made it 9month wellness visits and charged us all those additional types of costs. We had 9m check with our prior doctor already in NY, but never mind, since we switched dr. The thing is she didn't even check my daughter's ear - with our prior dr, even not a wellness visit, every time it's a routine to check different parts of my kid. then we had visit a second time just to let her see my daughter's ear to make sure it is fine. The visit was all because of Dr dong's unprofessionalism and impatience - but they charged us even more than $150 even after our insurance coverage. Ridiculous! We are going to another doctor. There are many 5-star pediatrician on Yelp, choose others. Do yourself and your baby/child a favor and don't go to this doctor. She ignored my daughter's complaints about foot pains from the age of 3 and she's 10 now and will need physical therapy for a foot and flexibility issue. She probably needed to see a specialist and she never addressed the issue. My son was an infant with terrible face and body rashes which she said was eczema and then even suggested a staph infection, which she didn't do additional testing on, and didn't test for milk allergy (at the time he was drinking formula and no solids yet). She didn't even suggest an allergy so he suffered his little infant years with terrible face/body rashes that all I could use was eczema creams and wonder why they didn't work sometimes. Later, we learned he has many different food allergies and a cow milk allergy! She didn't help him the best she could because she didn't have the knowledge and this isn't acceptable for caring for children and infants. Don't go to her. I regret going to her and if you do decide to see this doctor do that at your own risk and your child's risk. read more

This place was recommended to me during my second day of giving birth. Dr. Dong responded immediately after initial phone call. She patiently went over everything my husband and I needed to know. During times when my kid needed immediate attention, she took us in despite we didn't have an appointment. Not to mention this happened on multiple occasions. The phone app they utilize is also a very convenient tool to stay in contact with the doctor and it provides a summary of prior visits. On top of all that, the doctor provided us many expensive formula to try since my kid showed allergic reaction to the generic ones. Even though the doctor is extremely busy, the wait is usually not bad. Logically if the doctor consistently have large number of patients, there must be a reason to that. In this case, I have experienced her service myself. Overall, I am more than satisfied with her knowledge and service. read more

Dr. Dong is a one of a kind doctor....she really cares about her patients. She spends enough time with every patient. She is not on a rush and takes every question you might have. You really get your time and she listens to anything you have to say.. She is very very friendly and approachable. She loves what she does and is very acquainted on her field of practice. My 6 month old baby got sick last month, running a high fever. It just happened that Dr. Dong's office was close that day (Friday). We called her in her cellphone and she got right back to us. I think she was in a meeting or a seminar that day but she kept in touch with us through text, and after her meeting, she hurried up, and opened her clinic just for us to check on my baby. For the next 5 days, my baby was under her observation, even though it was weekend, she opened her office just to see us, even on Sunday....every night, she would call us to check on my baby. It was the scariest 5 days of our lives but having Dr. Dong as a doctor for my baby made us feel secure and at ease. My baby ended up being hospitalized, and Dr. Dong, even with her busy and hectic schedule, she manage to come by at the hospital to see not only the baby, but to check how we are holding up....It made us feel very special. I chose Dr. Dong for my 1st newborn. First time Dr. Dong was nice when my daughter was 3 days old for the first check up. But the next time I was there after 3 weeks, she was totally a different person. She was not patient at all. She is totally not a professional pediatrician. My appointment was at 10:30am. I waited till 11:15am to get in one of the rooms there. Well, ok. Then I waited another 10 mins and she came in. She just spent 5 mins in the room. And she wanted to leave. I told her I had a few more questions about my daughter. And she was so impatient and said how come I have so many questions. Wow. Ok. It was only 5 mins, Im a new parent. I just have a few questions, it makes sense, isn't it? Then, she just stepped out the door, and she said she have to see the other patient first. Haha. Ok. Then I waited another 10mins. She still did not come back. Haha. Ok. That's it. I left and I've never come back. Too crowded, and ovet booked. I found another pediatrician in Daly City. She is way better than her. I have never had a Dr. for myself or heard of any other pediatrician caring for her patients as much as Dr. Dong does. First off she is a smart and attentive Doctor. She knows kids and babies. She may not be telling me everything she's checking for when baby is sick but then I find out later she has checked for everything under the sun ruling out anything terrible before telling us its viral and will run its course(with close Dr. supervision). She goes ABOVE AND BEYOND what I've ever heard of any Dr. doing for there patients. As a new mom I was a tad nervous. Dr Dong was practical and kept us calm. She let us ask questions anytime of the day or night and always got back to us. Fevers seem to always start after office hours. If I was worried I could call/text Dr Dong and she was always there for us with advice. Her office is always busy. Her and her staff do a great job of juggling scheduled patients along with taking sick babies/kids when needed. When there is a wait it isn't ever too long and its only ever because Dr Dong is caring for her patients. (We also love Ali! She does a great job with our kiddo and is always sweet.) Dr Dong genuinely cares about the kids she treats. I never thought my kids would need to see doctors as they have been very healthy, and boy was I wrong. One of our kids developed a severe case of skin rash that was caused by bacteria that spread through the elementary school. I didn't know it at first and thought it was chicken pox, but it was scarlet fever! Had we not taken the kid in earlier, our kid could have suffered long term permanent health issues such as heart, kidney and / or arthritis. I don't think many new parents would know about this scarlet fever. It pays to have a competent doctor. She's a MD and PhD! She is patient and explain things well that I can understand, and booking was easy. Additionally, Doctor Dong sponsors classical music events and hires various local artists to decorate her clinic. Next time you're there, look at the drawings on the wall and the pictures of the music events she sponsored. And did you know she have a grand piano in her office for you to play??
