He knows how to work a crowd, his sound is on point, he keeps things rolling and even in a 2 hour rotation you still don't get bored!! He is also a great confidence booster! Anywho, met up with some friends and checked this place out. I think we got there around 8:30 or 9 and it was pretty quiet with some kids still kind of roaming around (I think around 9 it becomes 21+ which is good). Interior is a large, tall room with a bar in the center. There's a clear stage for singing with a screen behind with some graphics. There were some hanging/swingy chairs near the front corner which we eventually sat in and liked. Decent drink menu and really reasonable prices. You don't have to order drinks every time you want to sing. This place has the queue set up on a website (you have to create a log in) - you pick your song and then it shows you your place in the queue so you can keep an eye on it. You can also CHANGE YOUR SONG by yourself (without losing your place) which was super cool. The night we went the song choices were almost 50/50 country and 90s rock so I changed whatever I had picked to a 90s song and got a great reaction. The first song I did that night started playing in the wrong key - I knew I couldn't sing that low so I called out to the DJ (I had no idea where she physically was) and said it wasn't the right version, so she did a little noodling, and got the correct version going for me. I later learned she's upstairs in a small booth kind of across from the stage, above the entrance to the building. All in all we had a great time, stayed for a few hours. There are also a few private rooms in the back that some groups were in so there's both types of karaoke, depending on what you and your group likes. Uncle Dutchie is that awesome badass uncle who rocks and parties with you! He is also an excellent businessman who is constantly making improvements. The other DJs are good too, but he is my favorite! The website has a search engine for their songlist, and has a constantly current calendar. He has almost any song, so just ask if you don't see it. And the rotation is the fairest I have ever seen! They make sure you sing at least once, crowd permitting more than that. After the first round the rotation is old singer, new singer and repeat - which is ideal! Plus, he has figured out how to rig the acoustics to make a lackluster performer like myself sound decent! I have been to plenty of places where they might have a book or a few scraps of paper with a sassy DJ who makes you sound awful, and that is why I must talk up the Dutch! The music was so loud that a couple of people complained. One member of our group left because it was actually hurting her head. Hank decided to make fun of us very publicly with his microphone. Another lady and I complained to the manager at Woody's and he spoke to Hank. Hank continued to rudely make fun of our requests. Pretty soon more and more members of our group left, not wanting to hear the sarcastic comments. The manager at Woody's was horrified and tried to make things right with us. I have no issues with him. However, any place I enter and find Hank in charge of karaoke, I will turn around walk right back out.
