I wouldn't bring a car to Sound Decisions to have it vacuumed. This was one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. Owner was rude, dismissive, and accusatory. Ordered the wrong parts and gave lip-service to making the install right but never honored it. They introduced a 1kHz buzz in the sound system that I had to call to their attention and required me to make 5 trips back to their shop to fix. They never did fix it and quit on the job. They even scabbed in mismatched parts in an attempt to disguise the problem. I recently took my 2017 Colorado to Sound Decisions and owner Chris Hilbert for a new amp and speakers, front and back. My truck had all stock OEM equipment so the install should have been pretty simple for a company with experience. I decided to take my truck to this shop because they had a good Google rating. But upon closer inspection, their rating is mostly based on remote starters and other low-tech installs. Not high-end audio. Don't bring your vehicle to Sound Decisions for a car stereo installation. The process started badly when they ordered and installed the wrong set of speakers for the fronts and blamed Harman/Infinity for their product numbering system. They ordered speakers made for Harley Davidson motorcycles. This should have been a clue to them to investigate more closely before proceeding. They emailed me that they'd make this right. They never did. From the first day, the audio had a 1 kHz buzz that they introduced and couldn't fix. I'd take the truck back in over and over again and they'd say it was fixed, only to find, as soon as I drove the truck off the lot, there still was the annoying buzz. The owner even called me a liar in the middle of his store in front of other customers one trip when I told him that they still hadn't solved the problem. I said "The noise is still there." "It is not!" Chris yelled in the middle of the store. His installer confirmed it was indeed still making the buzz. Yet they insisted the problem was solved when they called and said it was ready for pickup. It wasn't. If you turned the system up loud enough to drown out the 1kHz buzz, the sound wasn't good. It was imbalanced, hollow, muddy, and boomy yet overly bright. It sounded how an install first sounds before refining it. Car audio is a personal thing and requires tweaking to bring out the nuances. I can't believe they called that project complete. . I asked their tech if he tried to change the speaker attenuation and add passive crossovers to bring the sound together. He said no. I was trying to be understanding. I know finding an electrical problem can be frustrating yet they kept returning the vehicle to me with the buzz in it saying the truck was ready to go. They even went so far as to say the problem was with my truck. But at no point did they ever hint at an apology for wasting my time bringing my truck back again and again ti fix the same problem. Worst of all, they couldn't hear it until I pointed it out to them and they'd acknowledge it. I asked their installer "Would you accept this job if it were your car?" He said no. Fast-forward 5 trips back and forth to their shop, the owner called me saying they were giving up and said they couldn't figure out the buzz and were going to abandon the job, replace all the original GM factory gear, walk away, and issue me a refund. They didn't even ask my opinion or offer suggested remedies. They just quit - saying they couldn't isolate the problem they originally didn't hear nor acknowledge existed. What a waste of time. 10 hours over the course of a week only to end up right back where I started. All car audio installers aren't created equally. A pro knows what to listen for. A pro knows how to diagnose problems. A pro works to get a job right. Not at Sound Decisions. They'll waste your time, not take responsibility for their workmanship, blame you for their mistakes, take shortcuts, and leave you hanging if they run into a problem. UPDATE: One week ago my truck started developing serious electrical problems. Took it to the dealership and they said several ground wires were cut and became dislodged. Half my systems were not connected to proper ground - the horn went out, lights didn't work, and I started getting warning messages on my console. $500 repair. Worked perfectly for 81,000 miles but suddenly goes out after this debacle at Sound Decisions. I can't prove this was Sound Decisions handiwork but sure seems like the result of hack workmanship done by a shop chasing an electrical problem they couldn't solve. I called Chris the owner on Monday, August 22, 2022 asking about a water proof stereo for my 2012 Harley. He was very polite, and supplied many options. He did push hard on the Rockford Fosgate stereo which he told me it was a " Plug & Play " basically fits as good or better than the stock Harley stereo that shorted out due to getting rained on. I arrived Wednesday morning at 8:30am which Chris greeted me, and we discussed my options. I was very impressed with his knowledge along with his great personality, and ended up installing the Rockford Fosgate as he recommended. Install was done in about 1 hour with a technician that was very courteous along with being very knowledgeable. 2 days later....... No buyers remorse here!!! The owner listened to everything I wanted out of my stereo, addressed my concerns for splicing into the factory wiring harness, and the level of craftsmanship I expected on my 40k vehicle. Not only did he deliver, but it was better than expected. Super clean install that looks oem, did everything he could to ensure the system was plug n play per my request, sounds amazing, and he managed to come in below my budget. Wow - seriously! Been driving by that pink mailbox since I was a teenager so decided to give them a try. Had an iPhone jack put in my car a few years ago by these guys and after a year the jack stopped working. Talked to Chris who said, "Get it in, let's swap it out no charge." Awesome! Newer, slimmer jack, same manufacturer. Good to go! A little more than a year later - this jack stopped working as well. What the ...? Was it me, the jack? My car? The phone? Discussed this with Chris who said, yep, you guessed it. "Get it in, let's swap it out no charge!" Wow! I asked Chris if I could change the iPhone jack to a headphone jack instead and he said sure. I asked him what the cost to do this would be, and he said "No charge". Needless to say, I tipped the install tech well and as for Chris? He represents exactly what his radio commercial spots say Sound Decisions is. Uber customer service and I'm sure his Dad is proud. Thanks Sound Decisions, you guys rock! p.s. I've had two remote starters installed and so has my dad. Their customer service is fantastic and they're very friendly and welcoming. I don't know much about cars or the products, but they explained things in an easy to understand way. Open on Saturdays too, which is convenient for my full-time hours during the week. Consulted this company after going to best buy. Price points were same for a head unit, but quality was better. After I chose a head unit, was pleased to see that install was free. Dash kit and wiring harness cost through them was same as I could get online, so had them do it. They did a custom wiring job to permanently install a phone charging cord. The stereo looked great and everything worked. The owner was super nice, very pleasant and tried to figure out my needs prior to suggesting a product and turns out he's great at selling me what I want, and not things I don't need. Therefore, I got what I wanted, paid less and had a quick install. I would absolutely recommend them and refer clients to their business. read more

Two and a half years following install...update: Navigation stops working. Have a shop open everything up only to discover Sound Decisions did a terrible job with the install. They actually showed me the work on the inside and everything was tore up, placement of the gps unit was abysmal, sloppy work overall. I'm amazed it even lasted this long. Back up camera stops working. Take apart the entire trunk to discover rust as Sound Decision cracked the license plate light casing to insert the camera wire...and never informed me. Discover the camera stopped working because the install included stuffing wiring into the trunk arm. They didn't put it in correctly and so it was rubbing every time the trunk was opened with normal use. Once everything was taken out, discovered multiple brackets had been broken and nobody had told me. Had to order all new parts as the install Sound Decisions performed left everything unusable. I had the entire system taken out and re-installed with a four year warranty from a different shop. Cost more but its definitely worth it. My opinion...if you want a cheap install that looks great on the outside and only for the short term, this is your place. If you're looking for a shop that takes care of your vehicle and informs you of the work that was done, I would go elsewhere. read more

I will never shop sound decisions my first time going to them was for information and the information given was wrong like not even a little wrong a lot wrong. They told me my subs were 500 watts max when they are 1200 watts max and these people sell memphis subwoofers? Then tried to get me to spend $300+ on a 500 watt amp. So today i thought i might check out their prices on an upgrade for my inline fuse holder and fuse. The first person i talked to told me my total would be between $20 and $25 for these 2 items but upon being rung up the lady told me my total was $47. So i spent my money at stereo city same product half the price. read more
