There was, however, the most equipment I had to get for the Sculpt class that I've ever had to get (a resistance band, ankle weights, a mat cover, a towel, and 2 sets of light and medium weights) which took up a lot of space. The class was also totally full on Sunday morning, so the room felt rather cramped. As a taller person, I had to stagger when extending my arms, and the mats were a bit short for me, so part of my body was off the mat, encroaching another row. The exercises were great, and I really liked the class overall, the energy, and the instructor, but the space was too crowded, and it might be nice to simplify the amount of equipment needed or not have to switch so much between putting on/taking off the equipment.

I've done many cycling classes, but I've never done the one with the shoes. I was not attached to the chair. No one explained that to me then when I asked for help, they just kind of snapped at me so when I said OK fine I'm gonna leave and I tried to get my stuff she literally physically blocked the door and wouldn't let me go get my stuff. What a bunch of rascals. You should make sure everyone is safe and knows what is happening before you start the class. I have done many many classes and many different kinds of gyms in Boston and across the country because I travel a lot and I have never seen such rudeness and expectations that everyone in the room is an expert and no one needs help

I checked out Rev'd for the first time with a couple of friends and overall we had a pretty good…read moreexperience. We were all different levels of cycling experience, from my friend who was an absolute beginner, to experienced and regular cyclers like me and my friend. First, the location of this is nice in Back Bay and by Newbury street, however finding the actual studio is kind of tricky. It's tucked behind a Caffe Nero so if you go up the escaladers, make a left into Caffe Nero and then pretend to keep turning and heading towards the back (so make a full a U-turn) and you'll find the studio. The studio has lockers to store your stuff in, but you may have to wait for the class ahead of you to finish as it's pretty limited and also the hallway is tight to hang out at. To keep it simple, for those who want a solid cycling workout, Rev'd definitely will give that to you. We had a solid 45-minute class that you can really make what you want out of from an intensity standpoint. During the class, you're assigned a bike, which as a first time guest, I wasn't able to change. That was kind of annoying since my friends and I couldn't actually be near each other during the class. You also will need to have clip-in bike shoes, but if you don't they rent them for $3 at the front, so keep that in mind if you plan on regularly participating in cycling classes. The class itself is LOUD, so if you're sensitive to noise or just want to protect your hearing, grab earplugs at the front desk for the class. Our class also utilized the "light wall" in the back that reflects off the mirror at the front of class. Because of this, the instructor plays a lot with the lighting. If you're sensitive to lights on/off and flashing lights like at a concert, this studio may not be for you. It was definitely a lot of effects, but made for an interesting experience. For people who don't like cycling for the movement or exercise, I could at least see why showing up just to enjoy the pseudo-concert experience might be a nice alternative. From an overall community perspective, I think they do more than a typical studio to celebrate it's "team" such as give out little certificates to new comers when they check in to congratulate them on their first ride, and celebrating people hitting milestone rides or having birthdays. I actually really appreciated that aspect of the community. Outside of that, the instructor in my case didn't actually come up to new riders to help get them situated and set up the bike, which I personally don't like from the perspective of helping new riders feel comfortable and confident taking one of the classes. I ended up helping my friend and a few people around me adjust their bike and clip in. So just a tip for those who are new to cycling. If you need help, definitely make it clear to the instructor that you would like their assistance, because it probably won't come otherwise.

The instructor started the class and turned off the lights the second he walked in the door which didn't give me a chance to figure out how to clip into the bike. I couldn't figure it out for the first 10 minutes since the room was pitch black which meant I only rode for 35/34 mins. The music was really cringey and sounded like royalty free which I didn't love. The choreography is very repetitive which bored me as a dancer, but is definitely preferred by many people. The studio is pretty hard to find since it's not well marked on google as being in a mall and you're not let into class if you're more than a minute late which I didn't realize before going, however I was able to wait for the next class. an hour later so I still got to workout. The staff are all super nice and the people who come to these classes are all regulars which creates a nice vibe for someone looking to find workout buddies. Don't let my opinions stop you from trying this studio - its a great studio for many people it's just not my vibe.

I can not recommend this place enough if you are looking for a strength training workout!

My favorite classes have been Tabata Burn and Power Burn. Jonathan, who teaches both, is charismatic and makes the class feel engaging even through Zoom. As soon as I let them know it was me, they were super helpful in letting me know where everything was. I've read a previous review that compared this place to other studios like SoulCycle, Turnstyle, B/Spoke, etc. I don't think it's a fair comparison because this place is very different. I didn't think I'd like the bright space, but I actually didn't mind it. That alone made me know that this was going to be different. The group was also a bit different than the other studios, and that's ok! The music wasn't really my forte, but I really liked the community that was there. I was told that most folks are from the Charlestown area, so it was fun to be invited into that community. There were folks that were new to cycling there. I wouldn't have noticed because the environment was so friendly and welcoming. I do plan to be back. It was exactly what I needed for a low-key Saturday AM.

Jonathan's class includes burpees and lots of lunges. I've never done so many in my life. I was sore for DAYS. Another class I attended focused on core. Awesome ab work out! I was late so I missed the 1st part which usually includes a more cardio oriented warm up. I've also taken a class with Sarah and she was extremely attentive. The class was definitely much easier than Jonathan's class but I still got a good workout. My only complaint is that the class is 45 minutes. It goes by so quickly. If you're a beginner then this class will definitely be challenging. I think it's great for intermediates! Any class can be turned into an advanced class if you up your weights. I tend to work out with lighter weights so I haven't been sore since my 1st class. They have free locks and enough lockers for everyone who attends classes. I was able to talk to the instructor beforehand about my physical limitations (spine surgery) which was also nice. As for the facilities, they're pretty average (not dirty, but not sparkling clean). The locker rooms are CRAMPED; which I tried to avoid by changing before I arrived, but it was the only place with storage cubbies. The class itself was challenging for a beginner, but I could see other students in the class who were breezing through the exercises and took up every opportunity to do a more challenging set. There were a lot of push-ups, planking, and abdominal work; all of which I tried to modify as best as I could considering my physical limitations and fitness level. There were a handful of exercises that I just couldn't do because of my spine surgery, which was kind of disappointing. However, I must have done the best that I could because my abdomen and legs were still sore a few days after the class! Overall, I probably wouldn't come back solely because I don't feel Pilates is best for my physically limited body. I would definitely consider another beginner-level class here though.
