I'm a really big fan of Turnstyle. They actually recently merged with The Handle Bar, another spin studio in the area. This specific location is really convenient, as it's located fairly close to the Kendall Square T stop. I will say that I think the layout of some of the other local studios I've been to have been a bit better and felt more spacious, especially because the classes are usually pretty packed. I'd been looking for a new gym or place to get back into shape, and this place came up in a random search for things in the area. I figured I'd give it a try but had never been spinning before and was a little intimated knowing my friends who do it and love it. Regardless, I gave it a try and this place has kept me coming back! Turnstyle has three other locations, and the physical space in each of them is a little different. The space at the South End location is probably the largest and newest in appearance. I have spent most of my time at this location though because of its proximity to my work. The space isn't anything too exciting--in fact, at first glance, it seems a little like a dingy basement. I've actually like how it feels a little isolated and is a little smaller though because once the workout starts, it feels more intimate than a huge gym. They have free lockers to use and two unisex bathrooms/showers, and I've never had an issue with cleanliness. The biggest critiques are that sometimes there is a little wait for bathrooms/showers, and the front space, which is reserved for TRX/Bootcamp classes, is a little small. The classes themselves range in difficulty, and every class I've attended has people of all ages and skills. And I'll give a ton of credit to the instructors for thinking of clever, unique themes. I definitely have my favorite few instructors, but I rarely dislike a class here. Despite being a novice to spinning, Turnstyle has been a perfect match for me. I love this place. Period. I've been a regular here for close to a year now. The front desk staff is always friendly and welcoming - which can't be said at every fitness establishment. I was introduced to this place through ClassPass, and then continued to buy 'Summer packages', and various other 5 pack classes throughout the year. I find that those packages are often the most cost effective way of attending classes. Make sure you pay attention to your email, as these are where these promotions/packages are advertised. The classes that come with these packages can be used for either TRX (total resistance training) or cycling ('spin') classes. The value is unbeatable for anywhere else I've found in the city. Tons of class times available in the mornings, day, and evening. All instructors have been more than capable. Located under the Mammeleh's in Kendall Square, and often plagued with surrounding construction, I recommend getting in - do your class - get out. I have personally not used their showers, but they are available if you wish. The changing area is decent, and there are plenty of lockers. If you don't want to spend $5 for slippery ankle socks, don't forget to bring your own. The main issue I have had with this place is their irregular enforcement of their 'waitlist' policy. Folks have been turned away despite being enrolled in a class for being present only 5 minutes before class, and folks have been turned away despite being on the waitlist for being present more than than 5 minutes before class. read more

Worst experience ever. I've been to other cycling studios, but this one is subpar. The service is horrible and the attendant at the front desk lied to me when she said she cancelled my class without penalty. NEVER COME HERE! Edit: Absolutely the worst place I have been to. The owner just threatened to blacklist me from the studio because of the review. He received complaints about someone talking in a later class and called me "unfit for the culture of Turnstyle" because he assumed I was the one talking. The Turnstyle spin instructors are my idols. Every spin class has been a killer, seriously sweat inducing workout, and I love it. The last two classes I went to have had the most upbeat, exciting and motiving individuals yelling at me to move that I could have ever wanted. The classes are 45 minutes ea and you can choose classes oriented around different music artists (although most of the music is remixes, which is extremely apt for the workouts). There's been a 3 classes for ~$20 offer going around, which is an amazing deal for spin classes. Turnstyle is a strong introduction into the fitness class and I would definitely recommend it to my friend. While the classes are awesome there's definitely some faults that come along them fitting everything into this tiny space. Classes fill up super quickly so register at least a week before to get your top choices for class times. Additionally arrive early to grab bikes and lockers (they also fill up quickly) or switch out weights before all the spots are taken. The main area gets highly crowded between classes, making it rough to leave post workout. While online this place is labeled as having showers, there are only two showers that will almost definitely be busy the whole time. Don't bet on taking a shower here. There's also TRX classes offered that also look quite popular, although I haven't had any experience with that. read more

Having been to Turnstyle South End, I gotta say -- the Kendall one is like the ugly stepsister, who also has a little, tiny, but VERY REAL bout of B.O. The South End studio is spacious and spotless -- if I dropped a Klondike bar on the ground, I won't lie -- I'd still eat it. Granted, it's newer, so I'll give it that. Meanwhile, Kendall is so cramped you feel like you're trying to hold a triathalon in a 2-person rental tent that smells like wet socks after a 10 mile hike. The lockers sitch -- you'd have a tough time trying not to K.O. some nice girl in the face accidentally with your locker door, IF you have a locker door. When I arrived, plenty of lockers were broken, doorless, or the lock didn't actually work. There are 2 rooms -- one full of TRX equipment and one for the spin classes. Both are pretty tiny, and you're definitely packed in there pretty tightly. Not a huge problem, but not exactly comfortable for the kind of workout you're after. I took a class with Becca, who admittedly, was a great instructor and constantly reminded us about form and challenged us all throughout class, but a good instructor doesn't make up for the fact that the facilities definitely need to be upgraded if there's any sense of consistency with Turnstyle. Having been to two studios, I can say that one feels like Turnstyle beta and the other, Turnstyle 2.0. Don't think I'll be back, because that would really just feel like opting to use a flip phone vs. an iPhone X. So... no. Just no. read more

This is hands down my favorite place to spin in the Boston area. It's not the biggest facility, maybe not as fancy looking as some of the *other* places, but the community- from the employees at the front, to the instructors, to your fellow riders- makes it 100% worth it. The work is just as intense (often moreso) as at other studios I've been too, but the atmosphere is far more supportive and inclusive. Unlike other cycling studios in town, I've never felt like I wasn't wearing the right fancy spin clothing or like I'm not fit enough to be in class at Turnstyle. I come here a lot because it's near my house and they have super cheap classes compared to other cycling studio, especially if you buy a monthly pass. My tips here are to try a lot of instructors to see who fits your motivation style. Picking by music is less useful. Some classes have a lot of choreography and some dont. The bikes here are a little lacking in ability to adjust (which is a problem because I am short, and overextending hurts my back when the handlebars are too far away from the seat). However they got new bikes this week so I'm excited to see that. When I got set up the first time no one was around to help me. Since going to other studios I now understand how I am supposed to control the seat height (hips!). I really enjoy the TRX and full body conditioning classes as well, which are a good way to balance out the cardio. The TRX room is really cramp. The best spot to get if you stay in the same station all class is the spots near the front or by the door. Otherwise the one near the windows tend to overlap a bit with the TRX set ups near the wall. I guess they did this so they can turn a profit with more attendees but honestly it's a bad spatial set up and you can accidentally kick or bump someone really easily. Lastly the instructors here are super variable. I've had some that I hate which I'd rather never go to ever again. I won't write those here bc that seems mean.... but suffice it to say I have a little list on my phone of who I don't like read more

So I recently moved to Cambridge, and Turnstyle was my first stop on my tour of area spin studios. I don't know that it's the right one for me, but I did find a lot of positives here. They have a three class pack for newbies for $29, which is a perfect, affordable way to try them out. The Good: + Great pricing. + I really like the themed classes! + They give away away hair elastics in the lobby! I love little touches like that. (They also give away ear plugs, but more on that in in a moment.) + Plenty of lockers, cubbies, and a coat rack + Free shoe rental + Fun instructors! I especially liked Rich. The Less Awesome (I didn't really find anything truly bad about Turnstyle.): -Louddd music. So many spin places do this, but....beware if you're a spin newbie. -The lobby area is pretty small. It's a little hectic between classes. -I have a strong personal preference for classes that focus heavily (if not exclusively) on just cycling. Turnstyle is not one of those studios. There's allll kinds of push-up action, and a short weights section as well. I'm always afraid I'm going to end up smashing my face into the handlebars or something, and I just prefer other arm workouts. While their class style isn't a great match for me, I do totally recommend Turnstyle for everyone who is interested in this type of class. (I suspect that most are and I'm the oddball :p ) read more

I love going to Turnstyle and the Kendall location is convenient to my work. They have 2 showers, which isn't the case at all their locations, along with lockers and changing rooms. The instructors are great and push you in class while also giving you options to modify or advance choreography. Each class has a theme that's posted on the schedule so you know what you're signing up for. I took Courtney's class recently and that's why I'm even writing this review. She did a great job matching appropriate choreo/resistance to the beat, she was motivating, cued well, and truly matched the cues she told us during the class. read more

This is a review for their TRX class. IF YOU ARE OVER 5'10" DO NOT GO TO THEIR TRX CLASSES. The ceilings in the studio are very low. So any exercises involving jumping is terrifying for tall people. And the way the studio is set up there is very little room to spread out beyond the length or width of a yoga mat. The classes and set-up are EXTREMELY UNFRIEDNLY for tall people. Also the TRX room has very poor ventilation and moisture management so if you do need to put your hand or foot on the floor at any point it is very slippery with condensation (from all the participants sweating.) Not great Bob. The instructor was good though so thus the extra star. read more

I've been here 5 or 6 times for cycling classes, and I'm hooked! I've taken most of my classes through ClassPass and then purchased a couple when I met my ClassPass limit. I love the whole vibe of this place. They have classes at a better price than other similar local studios, and the people who work there are friendly. The space outside of the cycling studio itself is limited-- the lobby, locker area, and bathrooms are small so it can get cramped, but this isn't surprising for the location. I love that they don't charge for shoes. The classes themselves: all the instructors I've taken have been good in their own ways. I do wish that they would *all* acknowledge that not everyone should be doing standing/ running sprints, however. But overall they're super motivating, and it's all about racing against yourself. When you sign up for the class, you can also see what music will be on the playlist for that class! Note that the lights are off for the classes and they have a few neon and blacklights. Too cramped and smells like a foot. This studio has potential, I mean, the class is okay. But the entire experience doesn't just lie on the actual class. It is so cramped in here that you could hardly raise your arms and make movements without hitting the person next to you. Hard to enjoy deep breathing too because it smells so bad in there, like a sweaty sweaty sour sock. I tried it here cause it is closer to me but I think the drive and parking issues to go to Velo-City and Flywheel in Back Bay are still worth it. Not coming back. read more

This Turnstyle location is small but I like this studio a lot better than the one in Back Bay (which IIRC, is located in a basement). Yes, the space is a little tight, especially in the spin room, but it's not sooo tight that there's no ventilation. However, there are only two (?) showers and restrooms so I'd plan accordingly if you're trying to take a class before work. The drop-in and class packs are reasonably price considering that they include shoes. I'm not the biggest fan of the bikes that they use but it's fine. Honestly, they have really good deals at the end of the year and at random times where classes can be reaaallly cheap and that's make it worth a visit. I haven't come enough times to give my impression on the instructors but it's what you'd expect in any rhythmic-based spin class with choreo & weights. They also offer a TRX class which I've taken a few times and enjoyed but it's again, a really tight space. You don't reserve bike spots when signing up so if you're one of those people that has that ONE bike that they need to be on, come early! read more

In the past I was taking Rich's class at an other studio. He's recently opened TurnStyle so I have taken several classes at his new place to check it out. First and foremost.....Rich is a really good indoor cycling instructor who roughly follows the Les Mills RPM format of high intensity workout coordinated with energetic music. The songs are specifically chosen with beat pattern that matches the desired pedal stroke. He's really good at explaining the workout, guiding you thru the class, providing form cues and inspiring you to push yourself. I really like that emphasis is placed on form as well as effort level. I haven't taken a class with any other TurnStyle instructor so will adjust my review once I've taken a few more classes. OK, more about TurnStyle as an overall cycling studio..... A real treat for me are the RealRyder bikes. They pivot left/right on an axis a little above floor level. As a result the bikes engage the core as well as simulate the feel of being on a true bicycle. They aren't 100% the same as being on the road and do take some getting used to ...took me 2-3 classes to sort out "the wobble" ;) The bikes accept either regular sneakers via a cage or pedal-less clips but SPD mountain not SPD road, that's a small beef I have as most roadies will have SPD SL cleats on their shoes. The bikes have computers that can sync with a HR monitor. The space has lockers and showers. The cycle room is small and the instructor stand is pretty cool as it is elevated and has some funky colored lights that illuminate the instructor. Towels are available and there is a water bottle filling station. The staff are great, they make a point of getting to know you and make you feel welcome and at home in the studio. I can't offer input on the TRX side of the house as I've not tried it yet. 9-14-2014 UPDATE: So I've taken Turnstyle Cycle classes with Tara and Nichole and both were very good and I won't hesitate to take their class in the future. Just tried TRX and it kicked my a** just like crossfit. No Olympic style lifting in TRX which is good for me as I've got a bad shoulder which doesn't hold up well to some of the Olympic overhead lifting moves. TRX does emphasize core strength much like crossfit and I feel that I got a great overall workout from TRX. I'm ready to sign up for my next TRX class! read more

Not trying to hyperbolize too much, but can't tell if this place is a joke. Average bikes, cramped room, little ventilation, not enough bathrooms, sweaty cycling equipment, and smells like BO upon entering. And People find this acceptable? I don't mind bad EDM but why was the instructor acting like a bad EDM DJ? Isn't he supposed to act like, well, a coach? Isn't this supposed to emulate a sport? I dont know if all the brand name spinning studios are like this, but the ones I've been have felt much more professional, ambiance wise and instructor wise. read more

My fiance and I first signed up for the trial 3-pack and then signed up for a 3-month 'Sweating for the Wedding' special discount that Turnstyle offers to future brides and grooms (and future bridesmaids/groomsmen!) I admit that when we first tried out Turnstyle on the 3-class trial membership, we were put off by how expensive we perceived Turnstyle to be. Membership isn't cheap and I was wondering whether we should join since my fiance already has a free student membership to the MIT fitness facilities in the area and I'm already a member of the BSC. But I can tell you right now, Turnstyle is an INCREDIBLE value and well worth the money! To us, the instructors are Turnstyle's greatest assets. All of the instructors take the time to learn your name and encourage you during your work outs without hovering. They teach you how to set up your bike and the proper form/technique when cycling or TRX training. They also put a lot of time and energy into crafting an effective and enjoyable workout with special attention to the music and lighting to make sure you're having fun while exercising. I would highly recommend Turnstyle to anyone! I especially encourage those who are already members of a gym or have student access to their school's fitness facilities to join Turnstyle (they have 20% student discounts!). If you're finding yourself paying for monthly membership to a gym that you never go to, or going to the gym daily and never seeing any results, join Turnstyle! Honestly, it's kind of nice to let yourself be mindless and follow someone who's delivering very specific instructions while motivating, encouraging you and kicking your butt into shape! read more

I have been on a world tour of spin studios as of late, and I have to say the 7 am with Ashley for the Beyoncé vs Jay Z class was AMAZING! She's a hardcore teacher that really challenges you. For me, I really like the type of instructor that pushes you and keeps things interesting and new. I particularly like that she is adamant about increasing the resistance with you. She's not one to say increase without actually doing it herself. I have taken another Turnstyle class at another location with a different instructor and can honestly say (though I'm sure I'm not the first) the instructor is everything. Everyone is going to have their opinions about what/who works and doesn't work for them. This five star is for Ashley, this studio location, and the staff. I will agree that the studio is small, but there is enough space to spin without incident and there are enough spots for each person who signs up. Get there early if you have a preferred seat. For parking, the studio validates for the One Kendall parking garage, located on Binney St - $4 for 2 hours. Not a bad deal! read more

This place is great. I went during their private launch and took TRX with Rich. There was only one other person in the class so it was awesome. Rich is a great instructor and really takes the time to explain the movements, how to do them right, and the benefit that you will get from them. The studio itself is clean and modern. They have lots of lockers with keypads so you don't need to bring your own locks. The front desk staff are super friendly and helpful. So far I have taken TRX with Rich and Derek and Cycling with Caroline. I enjoyed all the classes. The TRX abs class with Derek will leave you unable to sneeze or laugh or cough for days without feeling sore in your abs. Rich is one of the nicest, most personable fitness instructors I have ever had, and Caroline is adorable, positive and very high energy. read more

As a Bostonian, there are plenty of local spin studios to choose from, but Turnstyle definitely offers a unique experience. The close proximity to my house, the bright smiles of the instructors on the homepage of their website and their electric color scheme gave me the green light to say "yes" to this studio. Another key reason why I chose to spin at this studio was their Friday night "Neon 60" ride, where glow sticks, black lights and body paint were promised. Basically, a giant party on a bike. Count me in. When I arrived to the studio for my first class about two weeks ago, I was immediately put at ease. The owner of the studio and my instructor for the evening, Rich, was smiling brightly at the front desk. I told him that this was my first spin class, and without any hesitation, Rich answered all of my questions about spin. I felt fully comfortable and confident before I even stepped foot onto the bike. The class itself was definitely an adventure. I loved the music that they played, the high energy that Rich brought to the class and being challenged on the bike through a variety of different intervals. A unique aspect of this studio is that the bikes (Real Ryder) they use in the class move with your strides, so they are not your average stationary bicycles. This allowed me to work my core more than usual, which I definitely appreciated. A few days later, I went back to Turnstyle for my second class (with Chris, another awesome instructor). It was still challenging, but I found it to be easier than my first class, which Rich told me was often what happened. By the end of the second class, I felt extra confident and prepared for my last Turnstyle class (part of the three-class package deal for new members), which I will be attending very soon! I've been going to Turnstyle for a year and I love it! It is so easy, you just walk in and they give you shoes and towels. You don't even have to clean the bike afterward - it is all included! A couple of opportunities for improvement: -- The pricing is unpredictable. I just bought a 5 Fast Pack (5 rides) with 30 days expiration a week ago for $70. Today I see the same product is $59. Whenever it is time for me to buy a new set of classes I don't know what to expect from the price list. -- Ventilation is insufficient. It has happened on occasion that the trainer has forgotten to put on the air and I've had to get off my bike and step out to ask the front desk to turn it on. Even when the A/C is fully on there can be very little oxygen in the room and it gets really hot. Part of the problem with ventilation is that the clientele has grown since I started coming and every class is now 100% full. It didn't use to be that way. Either way I hope they work it out. Maybe they are outgrowing their space. Overall, fabulous studio. I definitely have my favorite trainers and classes that I like. I'm also at least ten years older than most of the patrons there (who seem to be predominantly white college students in their 20s) so for me a lot of the music is super obscure. I wish I recognized more of the music and that they would play more stuff I knew from hrmm... the 90s. read more

Turnstyle Cycle is a Kendall Square studio that offers indoor group cycling and TRX suspension classes. The green and white decorated space is clean and chic. I arrived 15 minutes before my spin class began and the people at the front desk were happy to answer any questions I had. They gave me a personal tour of the space, including a brief tutorial on how to use the lockers and an overview of the TRX suspension system. The class is held in a moderately sized cool, dark room. The instructor's bike is on a platform (in front of a snazzy Turnstyle sign with neon lights) so you can see him/her pedaling in order to match your cadence. I had never been to a group cycling class before visiting Turnstyle, so my instructor Tara spent several minutes adjusting my bike to fit my body and making sure I understood the 2 main positions we would use in class. Tara led a tough 45 minute class that was choreographed to motivating music. She even invited the whole class to join the instructors for brunch afterwards (so friendly!). Turnstyle uses RealRyder bikes, which move from side to side while you ride them, so getting a feel for the bikes made the beginning of class difficult for me. It was tough to control the bike when I pedaled out of the saddle, but I got a great core workout and I started to get the hang of it by the end of class. Luckily, the room is pretty dark so even if it takes several classes to wrangle the movement of the bike, hopefully most people won't notice the struggling newbie in the back... At $25/class (or $190/10 class pass) the classes are very expensive. I bought the 3-for-1 Launch special which is a good deal because you can use it to try spin or TRX classes. I will be returning to Turnstyle, especially because it is one of the few gym options in the Kendall Square area. read more

These are the best cycling classes I've taken in the city. The instructors are motivating, kind, and intense. The classes are challenging for all levels. As an outdoor cyclist, find these classes to be the perfect way to stay active inside during the winter months . Also, the music is fantastic! Can't say enough good things about Turnstyle. If you want anything that remotely resembles real, outdoor cycling, avoid at all costs. I've been coming to Turnstyle for about 6 months. The classes were previously small and offered the unique challenge of RealRyder bikes - I couldn't get enough! Since the start of the new year, the bikes have been replaced with standard spin bikes and this studio's popularity has spiked. While the prices are lower, classes are cramped and facilities are not large enough to accommodate. If you're proactive and register in advance, you can find a spot at popular times - but be prepared to wait for the 2 showers and to be part of the herd rushing to get a bike. All things aside -- the Music is loud, the instructors are enthusiastic, and the workout great! However, the experience outside the classroom needs improvement. read more

Signed up for a TRX class and stayed for a complimentary Spin class. Both were awesome, great instruction and love the small size of the TRX class. Spin class was also great, the Real Ryder bikes take a little time to get accustomed to but it felt like a better workout overall. Rich is a really attentive instructor, probably the best I have had. He (and everyone working there at the time) makes a point to learn your name and gives everyone equal attention. Turnstyle is the first cycling studio I could actually stick to going! The classes with Tara as awesome, highly recommend. People are always so nice, they do the little things that go a far way. Shower areas are great and fully stocked, only complaint is with busy classes 2 showers can make the wait long. Again it's the little things... Instructors know your names, the social aspect after class, help you make sure your bike is perfect fit, and always great you with a smile. Haven't tried TRX but have been to around 15 spin classes. Some instructors push you harder than others. One piece of advice, try it 3 times before you make a good judgement as the bikes are hard to get used to. read more

I was always really reluctant to try any sort of group fitness class. I always had this image in my head of a huge, bright studio with other participants and instructors all staring at you and you staring at yourself in a big mirror on the wall. 100% not the case at Turnstyle. The classes are small, in the dark and you're free to keep up with the instructor or do your own thing. There is no judgement, no "race", it's 45 or 60 minutes of the most incredible, intense workout you've ever had with some of the coolest and most energetic instructors ever! I've had nothing but A+ experiences at Turnstyle and I honestly can't wait for my classes! Extra shout out to Mick! All of the instructors are terrific but he's a step above! Turnstyle is a sleek and modern little workout studio tucked underneath 1 Kendall Square. I've mostly attended TRX classes here, and I really like them. This was a new workout for me, but I've really enjoyed it and feel like I am getting a good strength workout. I especially like the upper body workout, probably because I struggle with the core workout components due to their difficulty (a sure sign I need to keep working on my core!). I've had several different instructors for the class and think they're all good. I did take one spin class here on the Real Ryder bikes. I'm not a huge fan of the bikes; I'm not super-coordinated, so adding another plane of motion to a spin class is enough to make me feel like a mess. That said, I thought the instructor was excellent and I really liked how well-integrated the music was to the workout. I don't think the spinning at Turnstyle is for me, but I would heartily recommend it to anyone. Any complaints I might have about Turnstyle would be the fault of the tiny location (e.g. the TRX room gets crowded or the lockers are small), but the Turnstyle crew truly worked miracles with what they had. They've crammed two walls of free lockers, two nice restrooms and a shower room, and a retail area into a tiny little area, and done it with style. read more

Wanted to love it, but ultimately didn't. First of all, this studio space is tiny. With people huddled around the lockers in the main area, either waiting for their class to start or leaving a class, it's the most cramped I've felt at a studio. Also, the lockers are tiny squares that can barely fit your jacket and purse. During my spin class, I maybe understood 10 words the instructor (Chris) said the entire time. Her enthusiasm definitely cannot be denied, but her voice came across like the adults in Charlie Brown cartoons. I think it was a combination of her headset mic being too close to her mouth and her speaking too loudly into it; her voice was so distorted, and to top it off, she was fighting with the loud volume of the music. Technologically speaking, don't expect anything like Flywheel with the Torq Board. The classes are pretty straightforward, with arm and core workouts incorporated. read more

I've been taking TRX bootcamp classes at Turnstyle for a little over a year now and love it. I've taken classes with all the instructors and enjoyed them all--they're great at picking workouts that hit lots of different muscle groups and give great tips on how to do the exercises with proper form to safely get the most out of them. Now that they've staggered the cycle/TRX start times things aren't as crowded in the locker area. Primarily I'm a runner and would say that TRX here has kept me healthy and helped me get faster, while having fun challenging myself with a new type of workout. I'd definitely recommend this class to athletes of all types. read more

Everything about this studio is mediocre at best, and a health hazard at worst. First: their advertised 45 minute classes last between 38 and 42 minutes, in between starting late and an instructor who "just wants to get you out early." Uh, no, actually, I paid for a 45 minute class, I'd like a 45 minute class. This chain is the cheapest cycling studio in the greater Boston area, and it shows. The bikes aren't properly cleaned between sessions, and I'd say that the knobs on about half of the bikes need some WD-40 or duct tape. I really think that they just close the door between cycling classes to make you think that they're doing something. Many lockers are broken -- probably about 1/3. Some lockers don't have doors, and on some the locks aren't working. Broken lockers aren't labeled. The check-in staff are clearly working their first post-college job. They're polite, but not ready for anything more complex than checking you in, and on occasion, they're publicly bickering about who gets to go cycle when (it's clear that part of front desk staff's compensation is free cycling). I'd recommend getting to class early (not because the start time is enforced) but to ensure that you can get earplugs and a dry pair of shoes (ewwwwww, yes, on multiple occasions I've been handed a damp pair of cycling shoes). The cycling staff itself is...low budget. I think that's the nicest thing I can say. The cycling class instructors have taken these positions because they've cycled a lot and taken an introductory psychology class, ergo, they are experts in all things fitness (lol no). Sometimes, being in class is just like reading the pinterest board of a middle aged housewife (think about brunch! you can do it! go for it!), and the only saving grace to the studio is that no signs are written in comic sans. Sometimes, classes go on sale for as low as $8. That's worth it to pop in a pair of earplugs (bring your own in case they run out!) and ride in a corner for 42 minutes.
