I was in a vulnerable place after giving birth, limited schedule with even more limited energy. I needed a community just as much as I needed a place to exercise, and the coaches, staff, and members at Reimagym became just that, my fitness community. I'm the strongest I've been in 5 years, and I find myself doing things on instinct, like deadlifting my toddler off the ground! If you're on the fence about signing up, do it. The worst that would happen is you walk away with more fitness knowledge than you'd ever get at a chain gym, and the best is you would enjoy it as much as I do. This review is cross posted.

Today was leg day, my legs hate me and have decided to remain in a jelly state for the time being. With that said, the work out was amazing! The trainer was super friendly and not at all pretentious or judgmental. I have been to gyms before where it's obvious I'm not a fit person and I have felt that the trainers are annoyed by that. I don't remember his name, he told me a few times but I was focusing on trying to stand. He was just super nice. It was awesome. The man at the desk was super friendly too and easy going and not at all giving me any vibe of pressuring me to become a member. I am, I just need to go to more classes to see what membership I want. I bought a group on and used it towards a 10 class pack to figure it out. I have already recommended a friend and am really excited to go back. As soon as I can walk. I liked that it was dark in there so I did t feel so visible in my uncoordinated struggles. I was not at all self conscious. Also, the ratio of women to men was like 8:2 or something like that. So that was a super bonus. Not that I care if men are there, it's just less intimidating when there are a good number of women in a class. For me anyway. I highly recommend it. The only thing is there is no sign, so I drove by it once or twice but I figured it out.

Zumba classes are offered every day and at a variety of times, so if you have a busy work/life schedule there is usually still a class for you! The studio offers a variety of other classes/fitness programs as well, including Pilates Reformer and Bootcamp. STRONG by Zumba is the newest workout class introduced to the studio in July 2016. This is a new format by the ZUMBA brand combines high intensity interval training with the science of Synced Music Motivation. Nicole and Patricia (family studio owners) became instructors for this format and began teaching in a brief time period to follow. If dance is not for you, this program is an incredible way to get a great workout in. Nicole and Patricia have done a fabulous job executing this program and ensuring the well being and safety of each student is intact, all while providing a fun filled energetic workout. The Zumba Fitness classes offered at Latin Beat are not only a blast, but will kick your butt! As I mentioned above, each instructor brings something really dynamic to the group. Patricia (owner) and a Zumba Jammer, will energize you with her passion and spirit. The amount of knowledge this amazing woman has on health and fitness is remarkable. I've learned so much from being both her student and a fellow ZIN (Zumba instructor). Patricia is someone who truly invests in her students and wants them to be the best they can be. Nelson (owner) will make you feel like you are always on fire! His classes are full of energy, but also allow you to truly unwind at the end of a long day or week. Nelson is one of the funniest people I have ever met. His patience and compassion for his students is a huge reason why I became a regular at Latin Beat. Nicole, she may be young, but that does not stop her from igniting the room with her energy and natural skill for teaching fitness. Suzette, is a powerhouse of energy and inspiration. She will work every muscle during a class (especially your legs #squatsfordays) and has created a very welcoming and thrilling environment to work out in. Her music and routines are creative and easy to follow along with. Did I mention this girl also runs 1/2 marathons and competes in Crossfit as well?! AMAZING. Orisa, I don't know if there are words to describe her. Another crazy ball of energy. Although you may end up running around the studio most of this class, you are guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face and painful abdominals from laughing so much. When I initially started taking classes at Evolve Bootcamp I was intimidated because I was really…read moreout of shape. A sedentary job and an overindulgent diet weren't doing my figure any favors. In the past, I've been one of those people who gets bored easily with one type of exercise- I had done a couch to 5k program, only to promptly revert to couch potato status after completing it. Considering my husband once jokingly said that one of my favorite hobbies is sleeping, motivating myself to stick to a class that meets 3 times a week at 6 AM, rain or shine, seemed pretty unlikely. But there was a Yelp deal, so I figured that I'd give it a go. Surprisingly, I'm going into my 3rd month of Evolve Bootcamp, and I don't want to quit. Shelley is a creative and knowledgeable coach, and I find that I am never bored thanks to the wide variety of exercises that she incorporates into the classes. And the workouts are effective and will get you results. My cardiovascular fitness and strength have noticeably improved. I feel less sluggish and more alert at work. My family has remarked that they've seen a positive change in the way my body looks, and that feels awesome! The classes are small enough where everyone gets personal attention. Shelley will correct your form if needed so that you stay safe, and she will definitely provide modifications if it looks like you're not being challenged enough (nobody gets off easy). The fellow bootcampers are laid back, and unlike upscale fitness studios, nobody cares what you're wearing, how old or young you are, or whether you're a gal or a guy. If you're considering attending, DO IT! Logistical notes: 1) There is a place where you can safely store a small bag (ie: change of clothes) if needed. I have to go to work immediately after the morning sessions, so not being able to bring a bag would be a dealbreaker for me. 2) Be prepared to get very sweaty and possibly dirty. 3) Prices, especially for returning bootcampers, are excellent compared to other area bootcamps.

She mixes up the exercises and really focuses on movements that provide equivalent results to workouts I have done using machines or weights at the gym. I felt and saw results after just a few classes. Shelley really pays attention to form and demonstrates each movement and gives tips on how to do the workouts safely. I cannot think of a better way to get to know the green spaces in Boston than working out with Shelley and fellow bootcampers!

Coach Jared was amazing to work with. He quickly assessed my experience and current workout patterns and learned about my overall goals. Normally sessions like these feel like they drag on forever but I felt occupied and accomplished the entire time and it was over before I knew it- we all know, a great feeling when working out. The light conversation was also a nice touch. Through several circuits of weight training I was sweating away, heart rate up and all. It was a rewarding workout experience and the best part was I could still walk the next day! Can't wait to come back when I'm town again next!

After three months of working out for one hour a day, four days a week, and some serious nutritional realignment, my cholesterol levels were back where they should be and I was down a size in my jeans. By summer's end I'd lost 30 pounds. That's not what makes Mountain Strength so special, though. I've always hated exercise. Hated the gym (so many wasted memberships!) & the people at the gym. Lacked motivation and knowledge to work out on my own. Sound familiar? Because of Rich's personal warmth and affable nature, Mountain Strength provides a real sense of community. Going to work out is like going to hang out, only earlier in the morning and with more sweating. And because of his knowledge and openness, Rich is extremely sensitive to scaling exercises to meet individual's needs, which allows for more flexible workouts and a more interactive relationship. The most important thing for me has been that I have never once been yelled at during a workout! Many of my deep-seated memories of exercise-as-punishment have been replaced with real feelings of support and encouragement. I'm healthier than I've ever been - physically and mentally - and Rich and Mountain Strength have been fundamental in helping me get here.
