I loved the included classes and the variety of classes. I just couldn't make the class times work for my with my work schedule anymore. The space was clean and the front desk staff was helpful. Review of weverly Oak Club (Waltham, Massachusetts) We are…read moreactive family members of Waverly Oak Club in Waltham, and our experience during the Family Swim session from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM was completely unacceptable from both a customer service and a legal standpoint. According to the club's website, membership terms, and all publicly available policies, there is absolutely no mention of any additional fee for a child to participate in Family Swim, especially not during the 4-5 PM session. Despite this, today we were denied entry and were told that we must pay an additional fee -- the staff even mentioned $10 for the child, and later $80 -- although none of these fees appear anywhere in the official documentation. When we were stopped at the entrance, we asked the front desk staff to show us exactly where on the website it states that a child requires an additional payment for Family Swim from 4-5 PM. The receptionist looked but could not find any such information. She then sent us to the manager. The manager spoke to us in an extremely rude and dismissive manner. Instead of providing proof or pointing to written policies, he simply said: "If we let everyone in, we will destroy our business." This statement was made sharply, with a clear tone of hostility, and with no attempt to justify or explain the alleged fee. It was obvious that his decision was not based on any written rule but purely on his own judgment at the moment. From a legal perspective: Charging undisclosed, non-transparent fees violates basic consumer protection principles, including unfair or deceptive practices under Massachusetts law. Denying access to a service that is already included in a paid family membership constitutes improper performance of contractual obligations. Introducing new fees "on the spot," without written policy or prior notice, is inconsistent with standards of good faith and fair dealing. We left extremely disappointed. This club demonstrates that it can invent new charges at any moment, deny access to members, and treat customers with open disrespect. We do not recommend Waverly Oak Club to anyone.

I loved the culture where you have a circuit and if you finish earlier than your peers you cheer them on until they finish. I also want to give a special shout out to Coach Laurel who introduced me in the beginning of class to give me a warm welcome. She remembered that I was visiting from Long Beach and was here for the week in Boston and traveling to Vermont. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in CrossFit. As someone who is an introvert and struggles with confidence (especially in the gym) the coaches go the extra mile to make me feel comfortable and prepared for each workout by providing modifications and words of encouragement! During COVID-19 I have had some of my biggest gains in virtual WODS with the chance to work on skills like pushups and double unders. While I am still transitioning back to the gym in person full time I have attended a few outdoor classes. CityLine continues to prioritize and maintain the health and safety of all their members while putting you through a hard workout and building community at the same time. I look forward to the at home WODS and going in to the gym every chance I get!

This Planet Fitness is good. You need to know what to expect. It's an entry level gym for which you…read morepay $10/month. It's designed for accessibility for those just starting out. So you're not going to get a lot of amenities. But there are plenty of cardio machines and weight machines. If you want to lose weight or get strong there are plenty of ways to do that here but you're not gonna feel fancy about it. If you want a sauna or a pool or dietary help or oddly specific machines, go elsewhere. The only real basics a PF lacks for are your free standing racks and cages where you can load as many plates as you want. Kind of a bummer, but I can see how it does comport with the ethos of "no lunk" zone. The place is new, too. In the last several months they've replaced most (if not all) their equipment. Very rarely is any equipment out of order. The space is a good size. There is a stretching room upstairs with stability balls, mats, a stretching cage, some light weight dumbbells and plates, as well as the ab workout area. The second floor also has a handful of upright and recumbent bikes. Downstairs they have their 30-minute circuit area, which almost no one ever uses properly, but the principle of being able to get a quick whole body workout in in 30-minutes is nice. Again, it's not for the advanced gym goer but for those getting accustomed to being active every day and trying to figure out what the heck to do when they get to a gym it's great. They have three rows of treadmills and some stair masters, plenty of upright and recumbent bikes, rowing machines, and ellipticals. The weight room has half a dozen benches and smith machines, two sets of dumbbells from 5lbs to ~90lbs. They have two of each type of machine which helps to prevent crowding as well as four multi use machines that combine things like rows, seated lat pull downs, and adjustable pulleys. They also have a giant new jungle gym of a cage that has pulleys, an adjustable step for box jumps, pull up bars, battle ropes, etc. The women's rest/locker room and showers are older but clean and functional. The staff are friendly and I've never seen any of the militant kind of PF rule enforcement that has happened at other gyms (e.g. nit picky dress code violations, bothering people for not being completely silent during work outs, etc.). The patrons are mostly nice and considerate. Parking is easy.

However, the drinking fountain upstairs has been out of order for months without any end in sight and now the downstairs fountain is out of order, with little chance that will be repaired sooner. This place is affordable for the area, but the fitness area is lacking. They have the basics and some machines, but the area is not maintained, and things often go unfixed for many months at a time. It is clear that the club makes all of its money from the Tennis and Pool centers and caters to those areas. On one occasion, one of the cable machines was broken, and a member took the part home to weld it back together, knowing that management was never going to fix it. On another occasion, the hammstring curl was broken and out of order for more than 8 months. There is a sauna and steamroom in the men's lockerroom that have not been turned back on since the pandemic. Overall, the fitness area is serviceable but dated. The positive is that there is a small group of members, so there is almost always space available. The membership is very nice and welcoming for the most part; there is one unstable person who slams equipment, and management has not held him accountable.

I've lost track of the number of times I've said, "this is the time I'm going to stick with working out." I started going to Fitness Together last year and it's been exactly what I needed. No crowded gyms or waiting for machines. Expert trainers who handle all the thinking (and racking weights!) for me. Sessions on my calendar that keep me accountable. The trainers plan the workouts, track my progress, and actually make sure my form isn't awful. It's amazing how much easier it is to stick to a workout routine when all you have to do is show up and focus on picking heavy things up and putting them down. It's been the only way I've actually stayed consistent. If you've got fitness goals but zero time to waste, definitely check them out. Super glad I found this place.
