She made sure she understood what I wanted as far as my expectations, she let me guide the experience, but she also made suggestions from her professional standpoint. I had heard great…read morethings about Phia and after a gym sesh across the street I decided to randomly swing by to see if they had availability anytime soon. When I walked in I was super surprised to be greeted by a virtual assistant through a monitor. It was something straight out of the Jetsons. After they asked me a few questions they happened to have an opening an hour later so I swiped that one up and came back after a bit. I was randomly assigned a hairstylist, Minnie, and it was like the stars in the universe aligned because we clicked right away. She asked me all about my hair and what I was looking for. I'm a wing it type of person but I did have some things in mind. I ended up getting a trim with some wisby longish bangs and she was able to keep my length which was awesome. At the end she mentioned the different products she used in my hair and sent me home with a "care card" with recommendations on when to return and who else to see if she wasn't in. The whole experience was lovely and I'll definitely be back in a few months!

Due to Covid-19 I was quite concerned about going to a salon, but I felt very comfortable the entire time I was there. They have a lot of precautions put into place including taking temperatures when you enter. Additionally everyone in the salon wore their masks correctly which is not something that occurs in many places. Andy was very easy to work with and I was confident with the length (removing 12+ inches) and style that he suggested. I was very happy with my cut and look forward to visiting again. I would recommend going to him if you need a haircut!

Reddit directed me to Jekyll and Hyde and I made an appointment with Beth. Beth is now my forever hair stylist until she moves on or I drop dead! I never thought I'd find someone on par with my stylist in Chicago, and somehow Beth is even better while saving me some money too. It is obvious that she not only loves but also prides herself in her work. She is meticulous and kind. And I'm always showered with compliments after I've been in for a cut!

I have had nothing but great experiences here. I will say, I'm someone who doesn't plan ahead well,…read moreso when I schedule a haircut/color, it's usually last minute so I schedule with whoever has an opening. As a result, I've had appointments with many of the women here and they all have done a fantastic job. The usual visit goes: I do a terrible job explaining what I want exactly (usually accompanied by a picture or two), they somehow decipher it and make their own suggestions, and I walk out loving my new color (and cut but I usually just trim a couple inches so nothing special there). Everyone's super nice and they're good at reading whether or not I want to chat or just have an hour or two of relative silence/escape from my hectic life. They also always suggest cheaper ways of doing what I want and I'm grateful for that (and it always looks amazing). They also always take into account my infrequency of visits and suggest things that will take less upkeep which is also appreciated. Picture is just the most recent haircut and color; sorry it's just half my hair but it might give you an idea! The only problem is that parking is a nightmare in the area. There are usually some free meters in the area (try a street down from the salon, next to the UDF) but if you're getting something that might take more than two hours, those two hour meters aren't super helpful.

I was ready for a big change! Skylar was amazing and completely surprised me with her recommendations. After learning I would be traveling to Vegas soon, she said I should wait on coloring it so it wouldn't fade in the sun. We also had a long conversation where I discovered the conditioners I was using were too heavy. I was doing too much for my type of hair. She gave me so much layering and body, while lightening the weight. My hair is so much easier to manage now and looks 100 times better. She could have colored my hair and charged me more, but instead told me what i needed. I can't thank her enough! I will definitely book her for all my future appointments. 1 before pic and 2 after pics

I paid 57 bucks plus tip for this "cut." Once the next appointment showed up, mine was put on fast forward and I was shooed out the door - but not before trying to sell me a bunch of stuff. My hair cut had more lines than a movie script. Also, there was no fade. Just short hair. The hair wash was very nice. When I went back so that they could "fix" the previous attempt, I wasn't charged - though I kinda felt like they shoulda paid me! I'd go there again if you drove and paid for the first cut, and the following "fix it" cuts.

I booked online with Jesse right before I moved out of state... he is amazing and gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. It's been about two+ months now and my hair still looks great! I told him I was moving to LA and thinking about going shorter. He actually said a longer length would be better for me so I could pull it off my neck when it's hot. And of course, he was right. He evaluated my hair and explained his thought process on the way he wanted to cut it. I told him to go for it! He was very communicative and thoughtful in regard to my low maintenance style. We talked about some fun color options I could try during my next visit and he even told me to text him when I'm back in town because he would make time for me to come in, even if he wasn't scheduled that day! Plus, after I told him I was heading out with my boyfriend for our last date in Columbus, he curled it and styled it in a fun/romantic way. He even tried to teach me how to curl my hair since I am clueless. All in all, a fantastic experience and I wish I could come in more regularly. Next time I'm in Columbus, Jesse and Pistacia Vera will be my top two priorities!

He gave me an American Balayage, which is like an ombré on steroids, in March at his precious salon location in Clintonville. The color grew out so beautifully and naturally that I didn't get my hair re-colored until December 1. And I only got two haircuts in those nine months because the haircut, too, grew out so nicely. I'm a graduate student, and Darren is always mindful of my budget. But because his haircuts last so darn long, I can afford to get fancier color. Also, I thought Darren was exaggerating when he said that a Brazilian Blowout would change my life. I have really frizzy hair, so a promise of "no frizz, and you'll roll out of bed every morning looking like you walked out of a salon" sounded impossible. But omg, it has seriously improved my life. No frizz, not even after CrossFit workouts in the summer humidity. I roll out of bed looking like I just had my hair done, and I have no split ends. It's ah-maze-ing. Darren is also a real sweetie, always fun to talk to and fun to watch while he's working. He works at the quick, efficient clip of someone who really knows their craft. He's the best!

Thanks to a sheer act of spontaneity I finally made it happen and Penzone made the cut. I just happened to be scrolling through my Yelp app looking for salons nearby and Penzone jumped out at me because this location has been there forever. I've also had my hair cut at one of their other locations forever ago and when I looked at their availability, they had an appointment the very next day at 5pm. I didn't even care who the stylist was, I just needed it done. I arrived right on time, checked in, and grabbed a beverage while I waited. It wasn't long before I was greeted by my stylist, Sage. She was easy to talk to, listened to what I wanted, and gave good advice and direction when I was tempted to do something I wasn't planning on doing. I knew exactly what I wanted, as I was looking to get the same cut I did last summer. Your basic long bob, about collar bone length. We did the washing and cutting and drying and cutting again and I was out of there in about an hour and a half. I'm really pleased with it and enjoyed Sage's approach so I made an appointment to come back in a few months. The price point was cheaper than the place I used to go to and I was way more satisfied.
