The service was exemplary and the food was off the charts exceptional. Very considerate of allergies and accommodation and alterations. The service was unbelievably good. Absolutely lovely dinner experience…read more I went a few years ago and again today. Dinner - You definitely need to make reservations. Today I was at a hotel in walking distance and got a reservation impromptu for lunch and walked right over. The decor is a little old but probably intentional. The carpet in the chairs are all various tartan patterns, with the gentleman and lady staff in tarta suits or kilts. All the staff were very friendly and professional, working as a team to provide the courses and refills. The menu has a selection of five or so each of appetizers, main dishes, desserts and sides. Since it was a weekday lunch, I took advantage of the three-course special for around 39 UK pounds. My three courses are attached, the first being a delicious duck confit over black pudding with microgreens and Curry. Next up was a delicious sea bream (server advised me it was similar to sea bass) over put a nut squash with toasted coconut slivers. Last but not least, was a wonderful apple berry crumble with ludicrously creamy vanilla ice cream. Honestly, I should not have ordered all of this but it was a wonderful meal. Everything is prepared to order and meant to be an experience so do not come here if you're looking for a quick bite before going out on the town. All in all a consistently wonderful place

We came for their theater menu, because we are cheap, and this allows us to order more food! We got a roasted cauliflower steak, a seared cabbage dish, mezze, and an other cauliflower dish with pomegranate. 2 expertly crafted libations! . I am completely confident in recommending anything off the menu. Why? If you can make two so completely different dishes out of cauliflower and make both of them dance on my tongue like a bird of paradise during mating season, you have people back there that care about what they put on the plate and know what they are doing. This is honestly a destination worthy restaurant, if you find yourself within a days drive this is a must try. I promise you will be watching this place on one of your fancy cooking shows soon and then guess what? They won't have any seating for the likes of you! So go now, right now, don't wait!

It's not huge so it can be difficult to find a table at lunchtime, but out of hours it is a wonderful space to chill out in over a coffee and a book, and they have free Wi-Fi too if you have work to get on with. The old centre was housed in a couple of tin-roofed sheds and the transformation into the CCA has been nothing short of miraculous. Who knew that there was a wonderful town house hiding behind the old buildings? This was a showpiece job for the architects Page & Park, who have created a wonderful cosmopolitan atrium courtyard that feels like it should be outdoors somewhere on the Mediterranean and really shows off the best of the buildings that it connects with its higher-level walkways. The food is always pretty good, and they do a reasonable soup & wrap lunchtime deal for £6.50. Finish off with a cup of their excellent coffee or a Suki tea and you're all set. Even if you're not hungry, pop in here just to have a look at the space. It's a great example of creative architecture in action.

The mood in the bar is chilled, with nice mood lighting, good tunes and board games and books to use at your leisure should you want. There's even a microwave which you can use if you bring in your own food to eat! The kitchen bar is open during club hours too, so if you don't feel like dancing you can head on in to the kitchen and chill and/or eat and/or drink and/or play some board games at 2am!! The club is just as unique. there's parts of old furniture attached to the walls, lots of subtle nods to "The Big Lebowski" everywhere and lots of places to sit. There is a big quirky bar with all the mod cons including that lovely vintage tv playing some obscure Japanese films, of course. There's a big no frills dance area, complete with a wardrobe in the middle of the floor to dance around. There's not much in the way of flashy flashy lights, instead they have projections bouncing about the venue providing lighting changes and blasts from the pasts in the way of old footage and stuff. I've seen people stop dancing to reminisce at what they are seeing on the big projection screens. There is a nice set of standard lamps around to supply extra lighting around the tabled ares too. There is space for fowk to dance and sit and mingle with out feeling like a club, even though it kinda is. Friday and saturday nights see a good varied selection of club nights from 90's themed ones with bingo to indie stuff to b-sides to rawk to funk and everything in between. Um Did I mention you you get free toast?! PS. Check out the toilets for years worth of funny graffiti, art and poetry!

I've been a fan of Banana Leaf for many years. Prior to its refurb at the end of last year, the…read morerestaurant itself was really shabby and kinda run down - awesome food though. We recently popped in with some friends a couple of weeks ago - and I'm impressed. The refurb has worked wonders. It's managed to retain the friendly atmosphere it previously had, but now has a bit of style to go with its substance. As it's a traditional Malaysian restaurant, the tables are set with chopsticks. Ordinarily I have no issue using them, but I've a health issue that causes my hands to shake, so I asked for a fork. And I got this, delivered with quite a smirk. I'm not justifying in a restaurant why I needed a fork, but I wasn't particularly happy with being (innocently, I'm sure) belittled in this way. I had chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce to start with - really tasty, in a properly cooked, 'falling off the skewer ' kinda way. For main, I had kung po chicken and steamed rice. This was AMAZING! And much spicier than I had expected. Overall the staff were really attentive and the food was awesome. I'm knocking 2 stars off: one for the fork thing; and the second for only having one toilet (it gets really busy here).

I could eat in this place every single night!…read more I am not sure I have enough words to cover how good this place is. Ok so here goes. For starters we ordered the platter, but only for one person which was plenty and the Salt and Pepper squid. I would recommend the salt and pepper dishes every time, they are that good! For mains we tried to do the whole lets share but when we both tasted our dishes we didn't want to give them up! We got a Braised Beef curry ( spicy!!) and Salt and Pepper scallops! Oooo mmmm geeeee! Nice! We also ordered 2 portions of rice, Which seemed to be more than enough. As we watched more people being served their food we noticed they seemed to be all doing the same thing which was ordering your own portion of rice and then sharing all the mains with veg as well. The only negative thing I would say (and I really don't want too) they don't have a great selection of beers that are local to their cuisine, so we both selected the tiger beer. I really want to mark this place higher than I can. 10 stars for me!
