I…read morehad just started going to the Pollack Wellness Center in Commack where I saw her business card in the waiting area. My 11 year old Cavalier King Charles, Spencer, was about to die any day. He was very ill for a long time and I was struggling with the difficult decision of when was the best time to let him go to Heaven. I just lost my other dog Oreo (16 years old) less than a year ago. I was also in the middle of renovating our new home in Smithtown that we recently moved into after living in Nassau County for almost 30 years. I had such pain in my heart for such a long time after Oreo's death. My family (including my husband) and close friends couldn't understand why I was still grieving his death. Everyone would say, "just go out and get another dog" or "just get over it" or "why are you still crying". On top of this, Spencer had now passed away. It was like divine intervention that the universe brought me to Gwen at the time I needed her most. It wasn't until I met with Gwen did I realize what "grief" actually meant. Gwen is the most compassionate person I have ever met. She is kind, understanding, non-judgmental and so caring. Gwen explained the Grief Recovery Method and the work involved over the next 6 weeks. I immediately signed up to meet with her one-on-one. Finally, a safe place where I could cry and openly talk about my pet losses and not feel judged or crazy. Why was this grief for my dogs more paralyzing to me than I had for some "human" relatives I recently lost? First thing I learned is that there are no stages of grief. There is a big difference between sadness and pain. Time does NOT heal all wounds. Unattended grief tends to get worse as time goes on. There is nothing wrong with me. Grief is a normal and natural reaction to loss. Recovery from loss is a series of small and correct actions. I learned about short-term energy relieving behaviors (STERBS) such as overeating/drinking, excessive shopping, etc. All things that provided short-term relief. I also finally understood why I was so angry and quick tempered all the time. I was like a boiling tea kettle with a cork in the spout ready to explode. Over the next 6 weeks I learned how to "uncork" and deal with the emotions I was experiencing over the loss of my beloved pets. Pain does't equal love. Pain equal pain. Working with Gwen and going through the suggested exercises in "The Grief Recovery Handbook for Pet Loss" was invaluable. The chapters on creating a Relationship Graph, discussing Recovery Categories (apology, forgiveness and emotional statements) and the Completion Letter at the end of the program was life changing for me. There are no words to adequately describe how Gwen helped me through the most difficult time in my life. The key to this program was having an experienced and compassionate listener who made me feel safe and comfortable when I was pouring my heart and soul out. This program will help you gain valuable tools and insight to help you decide if and when you want to welcome another pet into your life. My heart is at peace now. Yes, I still get sad every so often but I don't get "stuck" in that sadness like I use to. I can now recall stores of Oreo and Spencer and smile (or even shed a few tears) because my heart is no longer shattered.

In just 1 session I was immediately brought the front door, unlocking the connection to my wiser self. SHORT STORY: Call and make the appointment. You won't regret it. Donna is great at what she does. She knows how to guide you on the path you wish to travel sort of speak. Her session pack a punch and is worth every penny and every minute. Be warned the deep relaxing sessions are addictive. You want to go back for more. You will feel a sense of happiness, refreshment and accomplishment when you "wake up" from your session. MORE DETATILS: I WAS skeptical about hypnosis. All I knew about it was from TV and movies. It's hokey and who wants to cluck like a chicken. Hey at one point of my life I viewed going to therapy was for the "weak". Now because of TV shows like the Sopranos, therapy is no longer a mystery and completely socially acceptable. Research. The key is to demystify hypnosis. I looked up a tons of videos and articles. I came across Donna's thorough and detailed videos. The way she talked about hypnosis was less scary, less magical and more scientific and practical. The videos help you get familiar not only with the process but with Donna who will guide you and make you feel more comfortable to make that call and make an appointment. Office. The office on the 1st floor and is conveniently located where there is lots of parking. The space is a typical office you'd expect, clean and tidy. You have a "pregame chat" or discovery chatI call it, then do the actual hypnosis in a nice cozy room. The process: -First you start with a pregame chat where Donna guides you with questions to explore what kind of things you would like to work on and what messages you want to suggest or impress upon your subconscious. -Then you head into the hypnosis room, where you sit in big comfy recliner with a big fuzzy blanket and lights dimmed down. -Next Donna plays some relaxing meditation music as she guides you into deep relaxation. She will get you into this deep and deeper relaxation state. Even if you have trouble focusing Donna's calm and soothing voice will allow you to just slow down. I promise. -When you reach this deep state of relaxation she will start saying suggestions about what you talked about earlier and slowly guided you back up to reality. - You "wake up" feeling amazing. The actual hypnosis will feel like hours when in reality it was only 10-15 minutes. Cost: I signed up for the 5 sessions. Price wise it is comparable to the cost of a phycologist. Well worth it! Hypnosis vs Therapy: I think therapy is wonderful and everyone can use someone to talk to. The con with therapy is that its a long process and you talk about stuff and discovery belief systems that don't serve you and talk about it some more on an Ego level. Hypnosis cuts to the chase! Identify the thought that does does not serve you and replace it with a thought that does serve you and programs you towards your goal. I have discovered more with Donna in our short period of time than I did in years of therapy. Again therapy is not bad. Its like going to a trainer and talking about a fitness plan versus actually doing it and seeing results. I wish you good luck on your hypnosis. You will love it.
