They offer samples on any and everything. This may have been my 4th time eating from here. The food I've had in the past was good. This time the food wasn't as great but it was still decent. The greens were salty and the Mac was bland (the candy yam juice on top made it better). But it was still edible.

This restaurant identifies as Black-Owned . There is no parking and it seems to be causing congestion as there are people double parking to pick up orders . The staff are friendly and they serve a full menu of soul food and Jamaican food . They will let you sample some items . The menu is extensive and expensive but what I tried was delicious. On the Soul Menu BBQ Turkey wings - they were good ! Smothered turkey wings BBQ Ribs Beef Ribs Fried chicken Fish - I had Catfish which was delicious ! Whiting Porgies Shrimp Collard Greens -not bad but needs some work . Candied yams Mac and cheese - I wasn't a fan Beans - I think Lima White rice Potato Salad Tuna Macroni Salad - I liked it but it's got a lot of Mayo Dinners come with corn bread . Jamaican Menu Jerk Turkey Wings Oxtail Stewed chicken Jerk Chicken Rice and Peas Cabbage Plantain They have dessert as well though I think I remember chocolate , red velvet and carrot cake . But I had the Banana Pudding ! It was excellent ! Made with vanilla wafers ! They deliver on door dash .

The appearance of the restaurant is bright and clean. I ordered the turkey wings, lima beans, and collard greens. The order was plentiful as I had enough to save for the next day. The turkey wings was tasty and tender, I enjoyed the lime beans and the collard greens. I usually add acv to my greens. Although they don't add acv to their greens, I found the greens to be flavorful. I also ordered a slice of pineapple coconut cake. I will come here again and the service was out standing.

Everything came up to $16.88. The place is bright and clean. Food was good and seasoned well. My gripes are they served a person with no mask on. Had I not come so far I would have turned around. Also, I only got 1 one part of the wing with my dinner. I feel like the whole wing should be included which I expressed. Other than that I had previously spoken with one of the owners (wife) telling her my intentions to visit and she was really sweet and inviting. I will be back to try more items and hopefully add a star! Sorry forgot the menu pic.

I enjoy my food when I actually taste the food and not the salt so I loved it. Others complained not salty/seasoned enough but it was perfect to me. Chicken had the right amount of crunch and tenderness. The salmon was meaty (not fatty) and seasoned just right. I had the bbq salmon and it was delicioso! The Mac n cheese was a good blend of cheeses and 'cheesy' pull was excellent. Potato salad just right. The service was top notch despite the place being sold out and very busy!! Definitely will return, hopefully on a less busy day and time. Parking could be an issue but we lucked up and got a spot a block away.

The food was flavorful and well-prepared, although some dishes leaned a bit salty for my taste. I ordered the sautéed shrimp and grits. The shrimp were delicious, but I wish the dish came with a larger portion of grits. The gravy was very generous and ended up making the dish a bit soupy, so a little more grits would have helped balance the dish. Other highlights from our table included the fried shrimp and waffles, yams, and mac and cheese, all of which were excellent. Another guest in my party ordered the BBQ salmon and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. The ambiance is casual, comfortable, and inviting, making it a great spot for either a local brunch or a relaxed dinner. The service was attentive and pleasant throughout our visit. We were even greeted by the owner upon arrival, and his friendliness and hospitality immediately made us feel welcome and set a positive tone for the entire experience. Overall, this is a solid neighborhood restaurant with good food, a welcoming atmosphere, and excellent customer service. I'd definitely return to try more items from the menu.

I've been ordering from this place since my childhood and while at times some of the dishes may not taste exactly the same because it's all home cooked I have never had an issue where the food has been disgusting. I literally just had a plate that I'm currently devouring now. The mac and cheese has pretty good flavor does not taste like just black pepper as stated somewhere, The candy yams also have a nice flavor with spices in a good amount of sweetness, the cornbread is made well what the proper amount of sweetness and moisture. The chicken breast was actually tender and juicy which I don't get from anywhere when I get chicken breast and the potato salad definitely has a homemade taste. I recently ordered from another supposed soul food place and their food was an absolute disaster to the point that I threw most of it right in the garbage. Rockaway fish House continues to be a consistent source of take out home cooking and I'll stand by that any day as every order I've gotten has scratched the itch that I've had when I don't feel like cooking this stuff myself.

Clearly the cook is not familiar with American Soul Food. Very disappointing. I also got the peace cobbler. Haven't tried it yet. Walking in, you are most definitely noticed and greeted! I like that concept for the mere fact, if you are ordering from bodegas they let you order at the food counter, in my experience, but this D&G's take on a more direct approach by speaking and asking how they can help you, more like steering you in the right direction sking with gathering enough information to complete the sale. For instance I said that I wanted a Sausage, egg, n , cheese. I told him 3 egg whites, with the sausage links. Instead of putting it on any bread, the most important question was asked. Do you want it on a roll or hero, a key question to satisfy the customer and to provide satisfactory customer service. A key component in retaining customers. As I looked around the casual atmosphere to gathering information so that I may be well informed, I found some cookies that made me feel nostalgic in the best way. I was compelled to buy the Duplex Cremes, see photo! I also searched for the bigger pack of Biscoff, my new found favorite but they only had one selection and it was a mini pack. This store was less chaotic, smaller than the Merrick store, more organized and consistent with exemplary customer service. If I'm in the area, I'll return. An improvement would be to have bigger bags of cookies, like the Biscoff, other than that I'm satisfied and eagerly await the next opportunity to ..... Inspire more, Yelp more!

I don't know what was going on before, but they've definitely figured it out. The place itself is cleaner, the drinks aren't expired, and the guys behind the counter are friendly and competent. Overall, it's a really good experience now.
