I loved the promise of Souk's front window; gorgeous tea and coffee urns, exotic (and eccentric) home furnishings - maybe even a gift or two for friends who love something different around the house.
Inside... well it pretty much lived up to the promise, but with a few omissions.
Souk does stock lovely and unconventional bits and pieces: couscouseries, enameled platters and Afghan rugs. But there's also a bit of the discount shop lurking here as well, with cheap-o plastic serving bowls, tatty rubber doilies and a whole mass of over-bright plastic toys.
But as I often find with places like this, it all adds to the charm. read more
