After cruising around looking at what was available decided to eat at El Maguey. We were immediately seated and served chips and salsa which were warm, crisp and fresh. I ordered a burrito with grilled steak, chicken and shrimp with onions, tomato and peppers. It was covered with a cheese sauce. Extremely flavorful and the shrimp were nice size. Large enough to have some leftovers. My wife ordered a chicken and bean tostada. Again, nice sized portion, tasty. I also had a small margarita. The restaurant was clean inside and nicely decorated. The food was not only delicious but also very reasonably priced. Yeah, I'd go back for sure.

They're good, but a little pricey (although huge) and a little too much of just sour mix. I love the booths here, and the lighting. The service is always nice too. No complaints here!

But you…read morefeel rushed in; rushed to order; quickly served your warm, gaggingly sticky sweet margarita; rushed to receive your mediocre, large plates completely, sloppily filled with nondescript piles of flavorless meat in some form of tortilla, usually accompanied by grey beans and dry rice. Rushed to try to shove the pile down your throat and then rushed out the door, all while enjoying a decor that's on par with a strip mall senior center.

I may be a little on the larger side but my wife is very skinny. Chips and salsa were delivered to our table then we sat for about 10-15 minutes before the manager came out and asked or anyone has taken our drink order. No was our reply as he headed to the back and sent a server out. She came out and did take our drink order then came back to tell us they had already shut down the soda machine. Who does that an hour and a half before they close? There were people eating although it wasn't very crowded. My wife ended up with water which she is not a fan of. She asked for lemon and when the girl returned she said they were out and offered her a lime. I ordered a margarita which came out with no taste of tequila in it. However it had a ton of ice. She took our orders which did come out fairly quickly.i had to ask for the spicy salsa three times and when it came out is was a vinegar based green sauce with zero spice. Upon leaving we found that the green vinegar sauce was an extra that they charged us $3.25 for. The food was less than average so I guess I should have checked the previous reviews first. Live a learn I guess. I don't recommend this place.

Over the years I've heard so many people speak on how wonderful the food is. I ordered a KC strip medium rare w/ fries & had a side of broccoli. My wife ordered the catfish bites. My steak had grill flavor. As far as seasoning goes: bland. My wife's catfish was seasoned well. She was pleased w/ her meal. Kyle, our waiter asked how our meal was. I was honest & told him my steak was not seasoned. At this point I believe he felt to no longer ask us if we needed refills. He walked past our table several times checking up on the table sitting behind us. A $15-$20 tip he could have easily had if he had kept our drinks refilled & showed presence turned into an $8.00 tip. I will go as far to say that I would have considered revisiting the establishment & ordering something else. I also take into account that it's a bar & grill. I imagine if I would have ordered chicken fingers & fries under the same circumstances I would be more-apt to return. So a lesson to myself is to not order a steak at a bar & grill. As for the atmosphere. It' has good south-end hometown vibes. Not again, unfortunately.
