I have used SOS for years and have known them for 2 generations, they are a superb company. I just called them this morning to come to the rescue, have an air bnb with some folks staying there and the AC wasnt working, they said they are swamped but will make it a priority to get out today, it was 5 pm and they delivered and their service tech was outstanding, courteous, prompt and informative. I have had them install new units, take care of old units and have never had an issue. As a Realtor for over 40 years selling over 6 dozen houses a year they are one of the top 3 HVAC companies that I recommend. read more

SOS Heating & Cooling installed a new furnace and air conditioner in our home in 2018. We just sold our house and the home inspection revealed a gas leak. I talked to their service department and was told there would be a $95 charge. Even though there is only a one year warranty on the installation. I argued that the gas leak should have been checked and discovered at the time of installation. A gas leak for 7 years? This was a disaster waiting to happen and they refuse to stand behind their work. Bob D. read more

Everyone loves this company until it comes to warranty work. They refuse to stand behind anything they do. Warranty has to be registered online and not with the postcard they send with the unit. Makes no sense. Just another story to get them off the hook. Shame on them. read more

SOS is always good to their word. We had an appointment on Thursday to review our 19-y-o A/C, right on cue the furnace crapped out on Saturday. We already had the paperwork from the review, I called Monday morning and since it's a quieter time for them (A/C in Feb, temperature in the 40s), they got the pieces that Jake had measured for made Monday and installed Tuesday. Efficient, polite, prevented mess with drop-cloths & gloves, and were done that day. I'll also mention that the tech on Saturday offered to fix the furnace, but didn't push at all, saving us about $400. Hire SOS with confidence!! read more

I have used SOS twice in the past year, once for my furnace and once for my A/C. I was able to get an appointment the same day I called in both instances. I was given a two hour window of when they would be there and their office called me to let me know when they were on their way so I did not have to take additional time off of work. Both times the technicians were very friendly, and worked quickly to identify the problem. They explained to me what was wrong, what caused the issue, and how they were going to fix it. Our furnace just went out 3 weeks ago. We had three estimates before choosing SOS, because they were the cheapest. As they say, " you get what you pay for". First off, the installers were not very friendly nor communicative. WE DIDN'T HAVE A WORKING FURNACE AND THEY KEPT LEAVING THE MAIN DOOR OPEN. One of the installers was a smoker and tossed all of his cigarette butts in the yard. They wired the furnace wrong, so the Utility Inspector couldn't get it started. They ran the condensation drain out of the house in a way it would back up and freeze, so we had them come back out and change it. Good thing I caught it. And they ran the intake and exhaust out the chimney, which was fine. What wasn't fine was that the intake was at a 45* facing West rather than a 90*, which allowed for the elements to enter the piping. We also had them come back out for this. The installer ended up putting the extra 45* on the wrong pipe, so now the install will not pass inspection. I would not recommend this business to a friend. read more

I have a service contract with the company and will not renew it after this season. My air conditioner went out on the weekend of a heat wave. Called the company to get a service man out to look at it, and he told us it wouldn't do any good for him to come because he didn't have parts on his truck to fix it, and they would still have to charge us an after hours fee if he came, which would be expensive. A different technician, from the their company came out first thing Monday morning and fixed it. He told us they always have parts on their trucks or in their building and that we shouldn't have had to wait the entire weekend. He said the other technician probably just didn't want to do it over the weekend in the heat. So we suffered all weekend for no reason. Although the second technician replaced the part immediately, he neglected to look at the entire unit and find the initial cause of the problem, which was a crack. We actually needed a new air conditioner. Unfortunately, he had already replaced the part and filled the Freon, which was empty, before he noticed the real problem. We were charged over $300.00 for the Freon and service call for an air conditioner that needed replacing. When a technician had serviced it a month earlier, from SOS, I specifically asked him to look at the Freon because it had to be filled the last two summers. This should have clued them into the fact that it may have had a crack. Needless to say, I am not happy with this company, nor will I ever use them again. Debbie S. read more

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Before I signed the purchase agreement I was told they had a 10 year warranty on parts and labor which is why I decided to choose them to install a new heat pump. Two years later since they decided to install a new unit twice the size of my old one on an old rusty bracket from my former unit it has caused my foundation to buckle and they are acting like this is my problem and I need to pay them hundreds of $$ to fix it. They do not honor what they say about their warranty so don't trust them. I actually paid for a new bracket which was included in my final price and I never received it and they have not refunded me for that bracket. They also gave me a folder with all their bragging about what they do like do a final inspection once the install is complete. No inspection was done and now I was given a dented unit and they will not give me a new one. They also said they would give me detailed plans of what they did in my home and this was never done either. This company just wants your money but could care less about your satisfaction. Buyer beware!!! Lastly, I found an independent installer who will fix their mess for less then half the price they were trying to get me to pay to fix their mistake. This company is truly a rip-off and can't be trusted. They didn't even answer my final complaint on the BBB. read more

Zero stars. SOS "repaired" my air conditioning last summer. The technician was prompt and courteous and appeared to have fixed the problem. The indoor coil in the evaporator was frozen solid - he defrosted it, replaced the air filter, and I believe he changed an electrical component. What he didn't do and didn't educate me about caused the same thing to happen this summer. Because it was the exact same issue I did not call SOS for service - instead I decided to do some research on my own. First I learned I need to clean the outdoor compressor every year. The technician didn't even look at it last year - there was vegetation growing and two dormant wasp nests in the coil along with all the dust/dirt/lint/grime build up. Next I learned I need to change my air filter more often due to a large amount of pet hair (I tacked screening in my vents and registers which I will vacuum regularly to hopefully cut down on this problem - I will also be having the vents cleaned and change the filter more often.) I turned the unit off and turned just the fan on to completely defrost and dry out the system - not only was the indoor coil frozen but a large chunk of ice had formed and fallen off of the pipe to the compressor outside in the 90 degree plus weather! After the system dried out I removed the chimney, access panel and triangle plate in front of the A coil inside the evaporator and vacuumed out over an inch of crud accumulation. Next I checked the condensation drainage tubing - it was full of rust and grime and completely plugged up. In summary - last year it cost $180 to defrost part of the system and temporarily get the AC running again this year. This year I watched youtube videos for about three hours and spent about an hour cleaning and $5.50 for new drainage tubing to get the cold air running. read more
