Their techs have always been friendly and polite to deal with. Our most recent experience with them, though- wow. I will never ever use them again. I called and set up an appointment for a bid on a new AC. The guy showed up 3 hours late. By then, I figured he wasn't showing up and had gone on about my day. He told me that that's just how it goes and it wasn't really his problem because the customer service people are supposed to schedule them to show up at any point in a 6-hour window. He went right into telling us that we had to buy a whole new heating and air system that cost $22,000.00 without ever actually looking at our system. I told him we only needed a new air conditioner, not the entire HVAC system. But he also never even went and looked at the air conditioner that needed replacing. He argued with me when I told him our budget was $5000 for a new air conditioner, so obviously affording $22,000 was completely out of the question. He wouldn't hear it. I was gobsmacked by how extremely pushy, argumentative, and rude he was. We had to tell him "No, we are not signing up for anything on the spot; we just want a bid" probably 10 times before he finally left. I've never had any of their people act like that. When I told him we were getting at least two more bids before making a decision, his exact words were "Why do you need to get other bids? That's just stupid." Yikes!

Then, they bid low, when they first came they said $1,000 to $1,200. Then, they came and did the work, taking less than then they originally said, but they charged us $1,640. They never stopped to tell us why they charged us more, they just did. So, don't trust the bid & know that they will take as much as they can. This job shouldn't have cost more that $800 so, we were already over paying. We are feeling kind of cheated

As luck would have it, we experienced a failed air conditioner on one of the hottest Fridays this summer. So, our nextdoor neighbor shared a recommendation for Fred's Heating and Air. I knew it was a long shot to expect a service call prior to the weekend, but we had no other options. Well, after talking with Amber at 7:30am on a Friday morning and listening to her very understanding and professional voice tell us that she thought she could arrange for a technician to come later in the afternoon... I knew that this was the beginning of what I call a relationship. The follow-up communication from Amber was timely and she told us to expect a technician named Shawn around noon. I've been around for a long time and this was beyond anything I had expected. We were thinking that it was going to be a long HOT weekend, as we really didn't expect to get this kind of attention, being a new customer. Shawn arrived and, after introducing himself, immediately started trouble shooting the system. In no time he indicated that he'd found several issues that had caused the AC failure, but assured us that he had the parts and could get us up and running in short order. He also provided us with information on maintenance routines that would help extend the unit's life, which I greatly appreciated.
