Simply hearty good German food. Having spent half a year in Munich a couple years before arriving in Stuttgart I had the opportunity to try different variations of the amazing food of Bavaria. Although this is the first time I tried swabian food, all quite similiar if you ask me but nonethless was very delicious. Will sure be back soon if I am ever in the area again.

Came here for a group event, which was a good space for this. The spatzle was ok and what I would expect for German food. Enjoyed the beer here. Waitress I had was personable and attentive. There was supposed to be a special on pitchers. I was annoyed the price was raised on me after I ordered it. Waitress mentioned the manager made that decision.

Very good German Food, total food coma! Total salads for the next couple days while i am visiting. I had chicken and potatoes....So good...Guilty Good! Not a lot of beer choices, but ok will do. This is considered a hole in the wal, its just average, but the food is on point:) 2 Locations to serve you.

I have to give this place a great review seeing how delicious their food is. I ordered the pork knuckles with sauerkraut. I was very unsure how it was going to turn it and it was delicious! The meat was tender and the skin was full of flavor and it was overall very juicy. Totally worth going here for a meal or at least recommend trying the pork knuckles especially if you like pork. I also had the bananaweisen which is beer with banana juice. It was pretty good but I am sure it could be better. They also have the option of having it with coke instead of banana juice. It is worth giving it a try considering that it wasn't anything of what I expected. Definitely worth a stop and try their food.

Recommend by new friends in Stuttgart. They weren't wrong. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great German food. Quite large portions but I like that. I will be back next time I am in town.

This place is very popular with both visitors and locals. They have good beer and food as well as having English descriptions on the menu.

Good restaurant to eat, food is great and the beer as well, the only problem was the service but I guess that's typical here in Germany

Awesome place for Craft Beer lovers. These guys not only…read morehave a great selection of beers, but they also brew their microbrews in house! They are currently experiencing some conflict with the owners of the building, so the bar turned into a shop, but they are allowed to do small tastings. Cannot wait for them to find another location and show their full potential! I really enjoyed the tasting of the wheat beer from a small brewery in Bavaria with great notes of banana, wish I remembered the name. The cheese and meats plate was great, rustic and went nice with beer. Looking forward to coming back.

Craft Beer place like no other in Stuttgart! Great concept…read more Coming for a visit from the U.S., where craft beer is everywhere, I feel like they are pushing the envelope and are on the right track for a success in Stuttgart! The place has a very pleasant interior. Due to the conflict with the building owners and the neighbors, the Bar is closed and on the lookout for a new location. However, they still have a Bottle Shop with rare and craft beers, both local and import and they offer TASTINGS! The owners and the bartenders are very knowledgeable and can really advice well. They offer small tastings of the beers, so you can come and find out about what you actually always wanted to ask and never dared to :) I really liked the Tastings, you get to sip 100ml samples and then if you like the beer, you can get a bottle to enjoy at home! To help clean the palette, you can order a cheese&meats plate, which was a great snack! Thanks for bringing Craft Beer to the Public! Good luck on your search for a new location! I will surely be back when next time in Stuttgart!

I can't say that Swabian cuisine is my favorite, but this place does it up as good as any…read more I tried the mixed platter of Swabian delight (not the real name) and it was pretty good. You get the standard spaetzle but this version is with melted cheese sauce so it's exactly like Mac and Cheese! There's a slab of some mystery meat - the jury's still out on that delicacy. To round it all out you get the "meat ravioli" which is really just a greasy meatball wrapped in a soggy pasta tube. THEY DON'T SERVE APPLE STREUDEL HERE. This should be illegal in Germany. It's just not right. How can you call yourself a German establishment and not serve the national dish? Good beer though. And the crowd is really into their soccer. Waiters aren't too friendly, so don't expect epic service. When you have your fill try scoring a goal in the loo.

Sometimes no planning yields the best experiences…read more Stuck one night by myself in Stuttgart, I wondered the mall near the train station looking for something good to to eat that was not Teutonic. After passing some mediocre looking Thai and Chinese places, I spotted the tiny entrance to the Calwer. Looked vaguely familiar. After sitting at the bar all of two minutes, major flashbacks to 1997 came up. Found the same place by accident in '97 while then too walking without Yelp direction with hunger pangs! Calwer then and now is unique in Germany - a brew on premises pub. What's a little disappointing though is the lack of of Mazen or something hoopy like a Jever. Yeah, I know about the micro-region styles of Germany. A pils, hefe, dunkle and that.s it. Previous visits here coincided with the cannstatter volksfest, so they usually had a rich Marzen on tap (that always had a faint sulfur aroma). The food - textbook Wurtemburgh ~ Swabian German. But they were out of Schwinhauxxen (not unusual for many haufbraus). Had the sauerbraten with spatzle instead - meat was tough, gravy was great, onions were not cooked enough. Big plus is they have a house made Schnapps made from beer. Its good.
