I love my apartment and the complex. Maintenance requests are easy to submit and are fixed quickly, washer and dryer in every unit, friendly neighbors that are quiet, and the neighborhood is close to shopping. I have zero complaints and have been living here since March 2015. Can't relate to the negative reviews on here. read more

I have lived at Sonoma Apts for three years, my personal experience has been wonderful, the grounds are pristine and kept very clean. The pool area is very nice and clean with new lounge chair cushions, the maintenance crew is great, even making repairs after hours and late at night. We have never had or seen a roach or bug, so comforting to have the confidence that your home is safe from pests. Our Manager Jodie, and her crew Maya, Breanna, and Brigitte are exceptional in every way, always helpful and professional. They address issues quickly and with the utmost care. Apartment living has its natural challenges, people need to realize it is not ownership or an HOA, Jodie and company minimize those challenges with solutions that reasonable people appreciate and are grateful for. I would recommend Sonoma Apts. to any individual or families who desires to have a resort style living space with the privacy of living in Porter Ranch. Five stars read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. Corporate America at its best. Four months of lockdown could not use any of the facilities. They never offered to give the residents a discount. It's so unaffordable that I had to move out. Even then they charged me $2k for breaking my lease early by one month. Shame on you people. We are going though a pandemic if you have not noticed. You are sucking the blood out of people who are struggling to survive. I hope you choke on that $2k. There is a place for you in hell. You are despicable. !!! These people are scum!!! They turned me over to collections. They have no morals. We are in the middle of a pandemic. All they had to do was call me or email me. I would have gladly payed what I owed them. Very rude girl working as a leasing manager is very unhelpful.she talks over you on the phone and provided little to no information I could use. She also has no issue putting a mother and child out on the street. Dispite the rent being paid entirely till the end of the month. Her reasoning is that the third party on the lease signed paper work stating he would be out before the end of the month. This information was not brought to the attention of mother and chid until days prior to the date of "move out". I am all about getting stuff done at work but I dont know how this manager sleeps at night with the rude aggressive and unreasonable manner she speaks to people. Worse yet is her unrelenting desire to put a mother and child out with no place to go in the midle of the Holliday season which also happens to be cold, wet and windy. The worst weather to be stuck outside with no where to go. The cherry on top of this turd . The mother and child have paid the rent and all bills are current till the end of the month. Manager woman in her sweet kind hearted ways didn't care about any of the above facts. She just wants them out. Get some class and grow a heart manager lady. the person "Samina" must be the friends of the apartment, trust me this apartment sucks, we moved from one unit to another because the first unit was next to the garage of a DJ studio and the management did not want to do anything because it was their friend, so we moved to a new unit high on the 3rd floor and then another problem came up, the neighbors below us did bot like us walking, HELLO!!!!! it's an apartment GO GET A HOUSE IF YOUR GONNA COMPLAIN!!!, and yet we can here them Every night making boom boom in the house with other guys every night, security is pointless, because when you call them for anything they take hours to get there, and when someone parks in your assigned parking space all they do is write a warning, and parking there is horrible, all the tenants that don't want to pay for an additional space use all the guest parking, BEWARE!!! this place may be new but is made cheap, they don't have elevators at all so if you got really heavy items good luck getting them Up. My Husband and I just recently moved out of these apartments to relocate for work. The apartment is gorgeous! Hard wooden floors, granite counter tops, washer and dryer in the apartment, large bathroom in master bedroom. It feels super safe here and it's very quiet. We never had any problems with our neighbors. We never had an issue with guest parking either (friends and family would visit once or twice a week). The not so good things about this complex: the jacuzzi was always super dirty when we would decide to go and after seeing the water we would go back home instead. Maintenance takes up to 2-3 days to come by. Also, cars would speed in the parking lot but thankfully the apartment put in speed bumps and that helped. Overall, we would live here again. The good things definitely outweigh the bad! Also, all the stores are super close - 4 min drive or 15 min walk. read more

This place is actually suited for single people. It really isn't family friendly AT ALL. The attraction of the almost Olympic size pool was an initial draw. We obviously thought we could have a kids party there but surprise surprise.....residence can only have two guests at the pool. That was not disclosed to our dismay. Plus the open parking is non existent. If you wanna have even a few guests over it will be tough for them to find parking with only a few spots open. The gym is ok if you only want to maintain but not good enough for any serious training. The winds up there are also a nuisance. What else.......? The only positive I can say is that they allow small pets & have ok amenities. Don't move there or you'll regret it. read more

How to begin, well first the price $1600 for a one bedroom, yes the place feels open but I can go just over the hill and save $200 a mouth for the same thing. It is a very nice place place on the outside but don't judge a book buy it's cover The neighbors are just awful, the don't control their children, for example the people above us children make so much noise the our walls shake, another time some kids were playing in the area and were leaving their trash everywhere. There are no speed bumbs so people drive really fast in the complex. Parking REALLY SUCKS so if you want your friends to come over you have to take you parking tag for you spot out and go park in a visitor spot until you buddy gets there and thats if some jerk who lives there isnt parked there so they dont have to a pay the $50 a mouth for a second spot. They do have a security company but they are never around unless you are at the pool area, we have called them a lot in the middle of the night for the noisy neighbors but it doesn't change anything. I tried to get my parking place changed to a closer location and the managment just ignored us. Now my wife and I have both lost our jobs and can't afford the rent, we went to the office to give our 30 day notice so we can move out and they want a early termination fee of $1660 plus $514 , REALLY where do they think I'm giong to get that money from with all my other bills. Not enough visitor parking. Most if not all visitor spots are always taken by residents. Annoying, bougie people that lay out by the pool and tell the kids not to splash! One, it's not your kid so you shouldn't be telling them what to do and two, you shouldn't be by the pool if you don't want to get splashed on. read more

Read my view of Tesoro Apartments which is a block away because the same problem may apply to Sonoma and that is very loud talkers and partiers throughout the night and into the early morning hours on any given night. Yes, last night, 3am partiers at Tesoro and you can hear them for blocks away because the echo effect. You also will hear people racing up and down Mason and Sorrento. They have loud exhaust systems and rev it going up the hills, they do burnouts frequently and again the loud talkers who party all night and refuse to close their balcony doors and windows. Just look at the photo when you search and you get the idea. If you have to get a good night sleep on weeknights for your job, I would demand they put something into their contracts to enforce these noise violations (again I am talking from someone who lives in the townhouse below the Tesoro Apartments but I can tell you the loud talking and partying goes for blocks and even closing your windows doesn't muffle the noise, I have to put on a loud box fan to muffle the loud shouting.) read more

James King is the Leasing Specialist there and I highly recommend that you specifically ask for him. He takes pride in his job. I went on several tours with him and this guy pretty much knew all the tenants. Even one tenants 2 year old knew him by name. We are moving in soon and I can't wait... I have lived at Sonoma for 3 years now and I have noticed a significant change in the management of the property. Jodi, who is the on site manager does an excellent job of keeping the property in order and enforcing the rules.. The property is cleaner and the maintenance team run by Gerry responds very quickly to tenant requests.There have been items like trash recepticals added by the mailboxes of each building and additional visitor parking spaces have been added for guests. I give Jodi and her team high marks for turning the property around and making it a great place to live. Keep up the good work! read more

We have now lived here at Sonoma for just about 3 years. At first I loved the development and the property, but the management was just fair. About a year ago, this place changed like night and day with the new manager Jody and her team. Carmen and Amanda in the office are awesome and very eager to help all residents. Jody has added a ton of new visitors parking, brought in a new maintenance team and landscape company. I have to give a huge shout out to Jerry and his maintenance team, Mo, Eddie and Eguardo. They are the best. We moved from one unit to a bigger unit and the transition with a new lease and the move couldn't have gone smoother. All in all, we love it here again, the grounds have never looked so good and management rocks here. read more

I have lived here now for a year in a one bedroom and yes there are a few things that are very inconvenient about this complex. The MAJOR one, is guest parking is horrible here. It is always such a pain if you want to have a dinner party with some friends because there aren't enough visitor parking for a complex this size. There are only 6 spots (which residents take a lot of times) on the west side of the complex (where I am) so it is quite stressful if you plan on having people over. I have a 1 car garage and yes it is inconvenient that I have to walk quite a ways away to carry a lot of groceries and since my bf comes over a lot I have been forced to rent out a space on the other side of the complex. However, I am very thankful to have my 1 car garage since it has allowed me to store some of my stuff (I used to live in a 2 bedroom apartment in studio city which had a 2 car subterranean parking and I wasn't allowed to store anything in my space at all.) And I think because of the limited parking, it is that reason why there arent a whole lot of noise due to tenants partying or a lot of people coming over which keeps this complex very peaceful. Mind you, I would prefer to have more guest parking available but living in a peaceful complex is a definite plus. I have never witnessed any kind of fights in the complex (per one review) and to me, the grounds are always well-maintained. Yes it gets windy up here (per one tenant's review) but anywhere on the northwest side of the valley is so I already expected that. Yes it is annoying that there is security by the pool who tells the kids they cant splash around and yes they close umbrellas at 6pm which is also annoying. I'm not really sure what other tenants are complaining about regarding the NWP bill because that portion of my contract was made very clear to me when i signed the lease and no I was not made responsible for anyone else's. My NWP bill is not "shared" and I am not responsible for anyone else's. Every one complains about the people in the leasing office but ALL of them have been nothing but nice and extremely accommodating to me. I had a dinner party for xmas last year and there were 6 cars which needed parking spaces. I called the leasing office and they were able to guide me as to where those cars could park for a few hours. I tore my ACL 6 months ago and I needed help carrying my xmas tree box as well as ornaments up the stairs and Ray in the leasing office hurried on over to help with that. I have called the leasing office a few times for some things I needed help with and Ray has been super with that. Every time something needed fixing (which wasn't a lot and very minor things like light bulbs being changed and ant problem in my kitchen) the maintenance staff fixed it the day of or the following day and one of the maintenance staff even carried my groceries for me. If I could separate my star rating I would give the people in the leasing office as well as the maintenance staff a 5 star and the 3 star I gave for everything else (all the inconveniences previously mentioned). I have never had any issues with any of my neighbors and the lady who lives above me is very quiet. Overall, even though there are some inconveniences I am quite happy here. It's a beautiful neighborhood. I read all these negative reviews about this place about the wood floors being fake, management being rude and one person got overly religious in their complaint to a point where I actually flinched as I was reading the review. Listen, you will NEVER find a PERFECT place to live in. There will always be inconveniences, some more than others. But before you sign the lease, READ THE CONTRACT. Make sure you know what you are responsible for and ask all the pertinent questions. When you walk around the complex and into the unit which could possibly be your living space then make sure you like it well enough to actually sign the contract. With all of that being said, I wanted to thank the people in the leasing office as well as the maintenance staff for always being accommodating to all my needs. They have made the "inconveniences" more manageable. read more

I have moved here during 2013 and the staff was amazing and all of them treated residents great but as for now when they changed the staff it was miserable ! This is the worst apartment in LA! The staff are miserable and especially the new staff brought here in 2014 I would not recommend anyone to live in this so called "luxury" apartment which is not . We lived here for several months, everything seemed fine until the gas leak. I called the office today and spoke with someone named Carmen. Her customer service was really poor, she laughed at me on the phone. Maybe she thought my question was ridiculous, however you could have waited until you hung up before you started laughing. She is not in my situation and doesn't have any idea what we have been through. I agree with Valeria C. that this is a beautiful property, and I enjoyed my time here. I liked everyone at the office, especially Jody and Maya. Jody was a real trooper through this whole Porter Ranch gas leak mess. And Maya always greets you with a smile and helps with whatever you need. I moved out this month. At my initial walk thru, the maintenance person told me I didn't have to worry about leaving the place clean because they will have to have it professionally cleaned for the future resident. He said not to worry about the carpet because I had lived there for about three years and the management is really good about taking that into consideration, you know, normal wear and tear. He said unless there's a big hole in the wall or a big rip in the carpet, I should be fine. Well, they charged me for everything mentioned above... Had I been told otherwise, I would have done whatever was necessary to make sure I got my deposit back!! I wonder if this is what they tell all their tenants moving out so they can keep a big percentage of your security deposit. Feels almost like a bait n switch. If anyone else is going through the same thing, will you let me know? I want to know if this their business pattern. I've lived in other apartment complexes and never had a problem getting my security deposit back. read more

Currently residing at Sonoma and the price is way too high to be mico-managed by this company. Mr. King is no longer the manager, and this new guy has no business being in this line of work. He is Rude, abrubt & speaks down to everyone. They are constantly harrassing the tenants, sticking notes in your door etc... If you don't have your rent in their office by the 3rd, they charge you $50.00 plus serve you eviction papers, which can cost you up to $500 MINIMUM! Get that? Evicition Papers before you are even 30 days late!!!!! Can't wait to get out & everyone I speak with says the same thing. This guy is a Rental nazi. You pay this much money for an appartment to be in a nice area and have peace in your life. This guy makes it very stressful. read more

This place used to be really nice! Was maintained well, had friendly staff and residents. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. Residents are getting ruder by the month, management has remained the same, but the front line people that actually got stuff done are gone. This place has horrendous turnover in their office and the property is absolutely disgusting!! Everywhere you look there are cigarette butts, trash, broken fixtures, stains on walkways and stairways in most buildings and trash left outside doors for days. They will make you feel absolutely FAB about living here when you tour, problem is what you are told is not what actually happens, for example... You will be told they have a ZERO tolerance policy for disturbing your neighbors, you will be told there are fines for leaving trash outside your door, you will be told cars are towed when parked in your spot, you will be told they maintain the property but no matter how many times they are advised of an issue it will continue. The only good thing I can still say about this property is that if you are inside with the doors and windows closed it is a pretty quiet place, too bad it's an overpriced ghetto! read more

This place is horrible!!! Let me start with the construction that has been going on for 2 years now. Very loud construction area that was apparently shutdown for a time because they didn't have enough money to finish. And, the construction on this place is ridiculous!!!!!!! If you like hearing every neighbor in your sounding area front doors and garages open and close all day (even if you live on the 3rd floor) this place is for you.... Tenants here also place trash on the outside of their front doors until they are ready to take it to the trash which has sometimes lasted for several days (even used diaper bags). One tenant even uses their visible balcony to hang wet cloths to dry. WTF!!!! Paying over $2000 per month in rent for a 2 bdrm apartment and you have to deal with seeing your neighbors trash on the outside of their door if you have guess over... That is if you have guess over! This place houses over 2000 people and they have a total of approx. 20 visitor parking spots (most tenants have their visitor's park at Walmart then shuttle them in) that are never open because the tenants use them as their personal parking spaces because they have more cars then their personal garage or parking space. I have also witness their leasing office agents use the visitor parking as well. BTW, if you need an extra space the apartment charges extra, this is why tenants always take the visitor parking spaces. This has been an issue for 2 years now yet nothing has been done about it. Also, one pool area for this entire complex which is also used by the adjacent condo complex (also managed by the same leasing company) and the condo community also has parking spaces in our complex. I once spoke with a person living in the condo complex swimming in our pool who advised me they had been promising to build them a pool for years so they let them use our pool and park their cars in our complex. Now you have about 4000 people using one pool, for this reason the hot summers here are horrible!!!!!! Also, people that live at the Sorrento gated housing community across the street walk from their gated community to our pool during the summer, so add even more to that number using one pool. Ever since half the staff, either left or got fired in the last few months everything has gone downhill even further. When we complained about tenants placing their trash in front of their doors the new people working in the front office advised us to take pictures of the trash and email the pictures to them with the unit numbers. Now, the way the pictures were taken you can tell which unit complained about their surrounding neighbors. Do you believe this idiot working in the front office sent notices to those tenants with the pictures attached to the notice?!?!?!? Long story short, now we have to deal with these same tenants making false reports about, US some of their best tenants who have stood strong over all the issues and stayed loyal!. Wrong decision!!!!!! Every month the apartment management place mailers on your door that says, "get $500 off of your rent if you refer a friend to Sonoma Apartments"!?!?!? No thank you, I would rather keep my friends instead of referring them here..... Move in at your own risk read more
