The #YEShusband and I made our annual trip this past August and were once again blown away by the five-star service. The Lodge at Sonoma remains our absolute favorite "home away from home" in wine country. Every visit delivers an exceptional blend of laid-back luxury, incredible hospitality, and beautiful surroundings that make it impossible not to relax. *Accommodations & Room* - Room Type: Cottage Room / King Suite - Comfort & Cleanliness: Impeccably clean, wonderfully quiet, with an extraordinarily comfortable bed that guarantees a great night's sleep after a long day of wine tasting. - Highlights & Details: I've stayed in the main lodge before, which is a great option when you want to be close to the lobby and afternoon wine tasting. However, the cottage rooms are perfect for a romantic getaway, offering a private patio area, cozy fireplace, high-end bath amenities, and a thoughtful layout that feels like your own private retreat. *Amenities & Grounds* - Property & Atmosphere: The resort grounds are stunning, featuring lush landscaping, inviting fire pits for evening relaxation, and a gorgeous outdoor pool and hot tub area that feels like a quiet oasis. - Service & Hospitality: Warm, attentive, and seamless from check-in to check-out. The entire staff consistently goes above and beyond to make every guest feel remembered and genuinely welcomed. On our most recent visit, Mariah and Taylor at the front desk were super friendly and continued to check in on our stay whenever we saw them. - Perks & Elite Benefits: Upon check-in, we received a variety of perks, including drink tickets, a daily dining credit (Marriott Elites get a $60/day breakfast credit at Benicia's Kitchen), and $25 off spa services (facials and treatments, not applicable to massages). They also offer a daily lobby wine tasting with local wineries, plus daily fresh popcorn with an epic seasoning bar. *Location & Convenience* - Accessibility: Ideally located just minutes from Sonoma Plaza, making it effortless to head into town for wine tasting, shopping, and local sightseeing. They even offer a complimentary shuttle--an electric VW bus that takes you roundtrip to the Plaza. - Pro Tip: Spend some time unwinding by the outdoor fire pits with a glass of wine before heading out for dinner--it's the best way to soak in the property's atmosphere! *Final Thoughts* An absolute gem of a resort that never fails to impress; perfect for couples or anyone seeking an elevated, restorative Wine Country escape. We are already looking forward to our next visit! Note: The onsite dining options were so fantastic they deserve their own dedicated reviews--stay tuned for those!

That is enough for me to want to come back again. Next time I'll be booking two nights so I can get my $250 credit!

Breakfast every morning was so delicious, not a very large menu but everything was well executed with good healthy options and excellent pastries. Special shout out to Susie who was super sweet, provided wonderful service and made sound recommendations for some activities. The charging station at the premise was so convenient for EV and included. Our room was comfortable, bed was firm (good) but quite high, after mentioning to the front desk, footstools were brought over within 10 minutes... Also enjoyed the nice gardens, especially the fragrance from the sweet olive. This is such a nice treat, we shall return.

Given their luxurious and sterling reputation, especially when it comes to the one in SF, I couldn't help but wonder what it was like to stay at the kind of hotel resort that the upper crust tends to frequent. So, when the opportunity to stay here at a discounted rate with a whole bunch of perks happened to happily coincide with our plans for a mini-getaway to wine country, we knew we couldn't let our good fortune go to waste! Now, I have to say - all of the flattering things folks have said about the property and how it looks really are true. Both the vibe and aesthetic are so charming and idyllic (it has a Spanish Colonial feel). Along with their highly touted spa that we had heard about, they also have a pool that's seemingly filled with water from the natural springs nearby, several dining options (including a food truck on weekends and in-room dining), a "lounge", a handful of outdoor firepits, bikes available to rent, and even a complimentary shuttle service that can take you to/from Sonoma Square, which is pretty clutch if you are planning on drinking. Plus, being that it's wine country, they also pour you a glass of wine at check-in. For our stay, we booked a FAIRMONT KING, but were upgraded to a room in the North building across from the main one. Not sure if/how the rooms differ, but I thought ours was solid (if nothing else, it's closer to the parking lot). The bathroom was surprisingly large, the water pressure in the shower was good, the bedding was comfy, the wi-fi seemed stable, the A/C was decently strong, and there was even a small balcony for us to sit outside. The room also had all of the usual basics (hair dryer, iron/ironing board, safe, etc.), a small fridge, a coffee maker, and a complimentary half bottle of wine for us to enjoy. While both the hotel and the room's amenities are more than enough to satisfy most people's needs, the absolute best part about this place were the workers, especially the ones at the front desk. Whether it be the gentleman who helped us check-in, the girl working the late night shift, or the fellow who helped us check out, the vast majority of the staff we talked to were really friendly and welcoming (although, less so with the one manning The Water Tower Bar by the pool). So, given how there hasn't been all that many negative things to note, why not a higher rating? Because, with the possible exception of their highly rated spa that we didn't get the chance to take advantage of, we weren't as amazed as we thought we'd be. To be fair, that may have more to do with our misplaced hopes/expectations and how we weren't able to explore some of their other amenities, like the daily wine tasting and fitness classes, but, based on their normal room rate and their $59 resort fee (FWIW, self parking is $29 and valet is $49), I just thought we would've been blown away. All in all, if I could, I would give the same THREE AND A HALF STARS as their overall average, as I think it's spot on, but rounded down. I wouldn't say never to staying here again (staying in wine country is inherently a splurge, but I'd be curious about what some of the other hotels are like around here first.

Plenty of places to find quiet time on the grounds as others mentioned. The owners did a great job with plants and chairs on the property. There is a pool but too short for laps so I just did calisthenics. Saw others using the hot tub. The kitchen staff accommodated my husband's dietary needs. Everyone was friendly and checked into our needs from the front desk, kitchen, and cleaning staff. Good to hear that they were able to save their property during the fires because of the sprinkler system. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Especially liked the inside shutters on the windows (which all had screens to keep the bugs out). Breakfast was simple but filling and they give you a sweet and savory course. I've read complaints that it wasn't "fancy" enough but felt creative enough for us and everything was perfectly cooked, so no complaints. They also left a birthday card and chocolates for my husband's birthday which was lovely. Three or four different wines are available in the afternoon, through the evening. There is a public "living room" with a fireplace, games, and lots of brochures of the area. We are sensitive about barking dogs but didn't experience any during our stay. We could hear the guests next door through the bathroom wall on occasion but just closed the door and it was fine. This hotel is within walking distance to the town center (although, no sidewalk) and has a fairly large grocery store and cafes/restaurants. Jack London Park is a must see. There is no staff on site after 9 pm (till 7:30 am) but it wasn't a problem for us. They do leave contact info for guests. I don't see this as a place to get rowdy and we experienced guests being respectful and polite. All in all a very pleasant experience to be in nature but with modern amenities.

Just paid another visit to the Olea Hotel for my husband's birthday. Still love this place but it's…read morestarting to lose some of the charm it once had. But first, the good: their accommodations remain fabulous. We stayed in the Upper Poolside Cottage (Room 10) and it's just wonderful. The Comphy sheets are just heaven. Their bath towels are also plush and luxurious. Two thumbs up for in-room linens! Heated floors in the bathroom and 2-sided fireplace provide nice warmth and comfort. Complimentary snacks and fizzy water in the mini fridge are a nice bonus, too. The poolside cottages are the cat's meow, and just a short hop to the pool and hot tub. But there are several things that I noted during our last visit that made me feel like maybe this may have been our last visit to the Olea. First, there was a goodly amount of trash strewn about the property. At the hot tub, there was a wine bottle cap on the bench (I know, wine country, to be expected, right?), but what truly grossed me out was the wad of used athletic wrap right next to the hot tub. Blech! As I grabbed both of these items and took them to the trash (all of five or six steps from where they had been scattered), I noticed even more bits of trash in the corner area near the planters. Like more trash than would be expected by just one party being messy. (Also, the planter area was weedy and just seemed neglected.) I dismissed it as just not getting some needed attention, until I returned to our cottage and noticed several more pieces of trash right by our front door that I had missed earlier. And apparently so did housekeeping and management. Plus broken tree limbs atop the roof of the main building. And a huge rip in one of the pool lounge chair pads. And a very large hole (~3") in a pool towel. Just signs of general neglect and subpar for this place, especially at their price point. Second and perhaps even more disappointing is how much the included breakfast service has changed. It's gone from a 2-course, made-in-house gourmet affair to a continental style DYI breakfast, apparently now even on the weekends. The only thing made to order is the avocado toast (for obvious reasons). For those guests who hadn't enjoyed the previous offerings, perhaps it doesn't seem too bad. Nice spread. But I sorely miss the delectable morning meals and the awesome homemade chai along with the service for breakfast. I'd give this an updated 3.5 stars but will round up to 4 because I still really want to love this place. Also, Star provided friendly and welcoming service at the front desk, which was appreciated.

From the get go, the manager and workers were all so friendly and helpful. There were initially some issues with dynamic pricing, but they were able to correct things on the back end, which was much appreciated. The main building and breakfast area are both very warm and inviting. The couches and seats are comfortable. There are games and books in the cabinet areas too. The chef provides a tasty breakfast each day, with the menu slightly changing. There is coffee, tea, and hot/cool water available all day. It can get a little crowded at breakfast, so if you are in a large group, go either very early or very late. The afternoon happy hour is pretty relaxed with some offerings of cheese, crackers, and wine. Be sure to ask for gluten-free options, as they have them available. They also prepared nice chocolates for my parents (anniversary) and a cookie for my nephew (birthday), which was a lovely touch. The rooms are fine, some are a little darker and/more dated, but that didn't bother us. The one thing that I would've done differently, is to bring an eye mask and ear plugs. Depending on where your room is located, you could be facing the main street. The doors in certain buildings would slam pretty loudly, so if you had neighbors returning late at night, you would definitely hear them. I am a little fussy with beds, and I found the Vitners King (seemed more like a Cali King?) bed to be a little firm and transferred movement easily. We would consider splurging for the updated rooms next time. Bonus that they have cruiser bikes to borrow. It was very nice to go for a quick ride one of the mornings. The location is fantastic, it's within walking distance to downtown. There are so many great restaurants to visit. In addition, wineries and parks are also a close drive away. Overall a great place to stay and we really enjoyed our visit, thank you!

Some of the rooms come with chairs outside the doors, but they also have some benches throughout so it's easy for anyone to enjoy the grounds. The rooms are fairly updated. I stayed here 6 years apart and both times they were clean, comfortable, and didn't feel dated. If anything the showers are a little dated, but it adds some character. So, I'm a bit apprehensive when people tell me they won't be there to let me in - that I can just follow the instructions! Yet, it was as easy as they explained. So, thank you Gayle for answering my repetitive questions! We saw a living social getaway and decided to jump on the opportunity. I' glad we did. The cottages themselves were charming, spacious, and clean. They came with a number of games and books. Even though they don't have anyone on site, getting in and out was really easy. The size of the cottages would actually facilitate a family really well. Unfortunately, we couldn't figure out how to work the tv, but weren't there to watch it anyways, so no worries there. The deal came with a bike rental and percentage off on one item in the store. While in theory it's great to bike around Sonoma, I would note that Napa Street is a pretty major thoroughfare into town (one of those that say the speed limit is 25 but everyone drives 40). It might not have been a big deal had the bikes we got been road bikes instead of mountain bikes and were in better shape! I'd also recommend getting some new locks that don't stick and teaching the staff in front to be a little more helpful. Alas, we did take advantage on the first day to bike around town. Definitely a good way to get around, even if getting back is a bit harry! Overall, a good experience. I'd definitely consider it again on our next trip to Sonoma.
