15 years a loyal patient I missed my first appt - right day, wrong time and had to pay $50. I was told that all did not matter, no exceptions under any circumstances by the office manager. So I paid it (under internal protest because I really needed medical help) and when I saw Dr Anders a few weeks later I mentioned it thinking it might be a learning opportunity for his staff to be a little more courteous, etc. Dr Anders said the office manager follows his orders, there were other doctors in town to choose from if I didn't like it. Great Dermatologist group at great location! Wonderful bedside manner and was able to get my husband in quickly to check a concerning mole and biopsy it to make sure it was not cancerous. This was a truly unprofessional experience. I initially went into the satellite office of Dr. Anders practice to have a cosmetic procedure for an irritating skin tag on my inner eyelid. I was treated by a physicians assistant who rushed through the appointment, clearly not taking time to assess the situation. after repeatedly trying to cauterize the area (which was very sensitive as it was mere millimeters from my eye) she said she thought that she took care of it because the color of the skin tag had become white. After I assessed it in the mirror, the color of it still looked very much the same. She then expressed that if indeed, I should return and she would try to burn it off again free of charge. Fast forward to today, when I went into Dr. Anders office because the procedure in fact did not work, I was greeted by Dr. Anders himself. Upon coming into the room, the FIRST remark out of his mouth was, "Looks like I'll be working for free today huh?" which I found to be incredibly rude, and it seemed he was being a bit of a showman for his young female intern who accompanied him in. He then proceeded to look at my eye and explain that there was nothing he could do, as the area was too close to my eye and he did not feel comfortable trying to re-cauterize it (which brings into question why his PA would have deemed it ok to do in the first place). His explanation for this was verbatim "We don't try to use the same method twice as that would be the definition of crazy." Before leaving abruptly he scribbled a name on paper for a plastic surgeon and walked out. My impression was that Dr. Anders was not happy about seeing a patient whom he was not making money off of and treated me accordingly. read more

I visited this practice because it was rated highly; that was a waste of time and money. Cons -This is the most run down and outdated office I have ever visited. This location is definitely in need of a renovation. -My visit was overpriced, and my treatment plan would've costed me $700 after insurance and I have a PPO with high coverages. My current Derm's treatment plan ran me about $100 post insurance because he cares about his clients and takes the time to compare what is going to be covered for each patient and only prescribes affordable options. -The staff was not friendly and seemed to be in a rush. In addition, nobody took the time to explain what this stuff was that I was to put in and on my body, and how the ailment came to be in the first place. Go to a Derm that cares enough to educate you on what's happening with your body. -This practice has some billing issues. I was contacted by a collections agency for my bill which is completely demeaning. Anyways, my recommendation to this practice...let me pay on site, immediately, with my HSA so that you don't have to tell me "we sent you invoices in the mail and they were returned". First issue, I received my statements from AMEX, AAA, DMV, etc. with no issue while I will admit fault in that I gave them my business number and I had been on vacation for 5 months so I didn't see their calls. But hey guess what! There's this magical thing in this century called email invoices woooooow what a concept! Pros -My current Derm looked over my treatment plan from this practice and said that it would be effective if I had desired to purchase the non covered products that they prescribed. The medical knowledge is certainly there and they know what they're doing; they just need to learn the other parts of running a practice. Would not recommend anyone go here. read more

CLIENTS BEWARE! When you pay for a service, it is a reasonable assumption that the service provider will complete the service. Not so for Dr. Ander's. I paid to have a very straightforward cauterizing procedure of very discrete lesions. I noticed that several of those areas were not completely cauterized so I called to get a follow-up appointment to complete the procedure. I was told that I would have to pay for a completely new procedure. Dr. Anders is an experienced dermatologist who does this procedure often and the procedure when completed properly results in complete removal - so the focus is either there or not. A more honorable and transparent approach would be for Dr. Anders to incorporate a follow-up visit to ensure that he has properly completed the very straightforward procedure versus what feels like a process to line his pockets. I was very excited and eager for my appointment. The vibe went from 10 to 0 as soon as I entered the building. The front desk lady was so rude. I stood there for a few minutes (I was the only person in the waiting room) until she greeted with a "can I help you"? She seemed irritated and annoyed before she even greeted me. Her patience was short. I will spare the detail, but, because of her, I will NOT BE RETURNING. If this place wants better business, they can start by replacing the receptionist. read more

I have been to both the Sonoma, and Santa Rosa office and have been very happy with both. Dr. Anders makes everyone feel very comfortable and answers all my questions in a way that I can understand. I have had a few spots that I thought were suspicious and left with peace of mind and clarity on my diagnosis. Although I am a current patient, I am seriously considering changing offices even though that would mean I would have to go all the way to Napa or Santa Rosa. The office staff is so incredible rude, it is unbelievable every time I call. Dr. Anders seems really nice but then also does not seem thorough. Catherine, the laser person, is probably the only one worth seeing. Dr. Anders also does not have email which is crazy in this day and age. The office seems old and not up to date. I wish I could say something nice about this place, but I think because they seem to have a monopoly in Sonoma, they can somehow get away with it. Do not go here if you can avoid it. read more

I've seen Katherine Wilkins for years now - she's extremely knowledgeable and kind. I was having some horrible itching in my arms and she traced it back to a pinched nerve in my back (which solved the problem)! I've seen her for cosmetic work, and even brought my kids to her.
