    Smoking Gun Sandwich (and fries)
    Sarah K.

We came here on a Sunday for lunch. They weren't too crowded and we were seated right away. The service was good. Our server was okay. The food came out quickly. We had the value meal (only $13!); sandwich, drink and side. The Smoking Gun Sandwich (beef, brisket, sausage) was good. The sausage wasn't that hot. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was fine. It was an average pulled pork sandwich. The value meal deal was a very good price for the amount you got.

We haven't stopped by this location in quite a while. I'm certainly glad that we did. The restaurant was clean and tidy. We were quickly greeted and seated. We ordered the "Big Deal". We opted for the Sliced Pork on a bun with fries. We also got an order of Fried Okra with some ranch dressing for dipping. The food came out in about 15 minutes and it was piping hot! Overall, the food was delicious. Our server was friendly and speedy. We also ordered a quart of their potato salad to go... because it's great! I can definitely recommend this location for lunch.

Yes, it's a chain and that's fine with me. Had a combo plate with ribs and pulled pork. Sides were slaw and sweet potato. They include garlic bread as well Every item was delicious, hence the 5 stars. BBQ is a tough business and this area has seen many BBQ restaurants close recently. Support the ones that are still around and have realistic expectations. BBQ is NOT meant to be a gourmet experience, just enjoy the food.

I miss having a Sonny's close to where I live. So glad to spot this one on my recent visit. Have to say the food was better than I remember and the guy serving me was fantastic. You can really tell a difference when you get an experienced server who enjoys their job and meeting people. Got my go to, half chicken dinner and bake beans and enjoyed every bite. May stop again next month when I am back in the area.

This is one of Florida's stable BBQ spots. Have been coming here for years. Food: They have several BBQ options and has changed over the years. Some good some just okay. But it is the sauce that really makes this BBQ really good. The meats have great season and great flavor but it the sauces that really make it really great. The baked beans is cooked to the way I like them and the famous garlic bread is what you can't deny. Service: This was a to-go order, therefore I didn't get to really interact with the staff but over the years, they have been really good and willing to assist you for what you need. Overall: If you haven't tried them, I recommend you do and hopefully you will be back for more for them to reopen some of their closed stores.

Love Sonny's bbq! Plant City needs a new one! We miss you! Love everything I ordered! I love the Big Deal! It's a great deal. Sandwich, side n lg drink! I usually get pulled pork on garlic toast. It was great as usual! I love many side, today I got ff's. Sometimes I get okra or mac/chz. But I recommend anything on the menu!

It is ALWAYS a good practice to ask the server for dessert recs because odds are, they're going to suggest something you'd never consider and thank goodness she did. She suggested the Pistachio Ricotta Torta and the amaretto cookie gelato, so we got both of those as well as some chocolate gelato. I am not typically an amaretto girlie, but that gelato was arguably the best I've ever had. Never had anything like it before, truly phenomenal. The chocolate was great too, really some of the better gelato I've had, but that amaretto cookie flavor with the little cookie pieces... truly DIABOLICAL!!!! The torta was also so delicious!!

Located in The Vinoy hotel, this spot is an experience from the beginning! A stunning bar dominates the space as you enter, complimented with a mix of art deco, modern, and lux finishes. Seating for every group size makes this perfect for a drink with a friend, dinner with the family, or a larger gathering! It surprisingly felt approachable, not ostentatious. Service was top notch throughout our dinner, providing an elevated experience from start to finish! Enjoyed the Early Retirement to drink, which was a slightly cherry/fruity version of an Old Fashioned. The Whipped Ricotta was my favorite dish: creamy, sweet, nutty perfection! The meatballs were tasty, yet failed to stand out as anything original. The Radiatore alla Vodka was delicious with perfectly al dente pasta and a rich sauce! The Lacquered Brick Chicken had the PERFECT sauce for those of you that love umami and I appreciated the mushrooms paired with the perfectly cooked chicken. Really great spot for a special occasion or elevated experience in the area!

A straightforward menu gives a decent variety and the chef delivered on the flavor. We had the egg Benedict the Gudda grits, and the (not so) French toast. Overall, the food was delicious, but I was extremely disappointed with the "French toast" for some reason, the chef opted for not doing an egg/milk bath for their French toast, which to me is a grave mistake, who wants to dry French toast? This liberty could be excused, and tolerable for the sake of creativity and innovation, IF it was openly, shared on the menu, or by the server. However, this came to a COMPLETE surprise to me AFTER ordering and receiving it. I've never had DRY French toast, nor do I ever wish to again despite the tasty toppings and well executed cinnamon butter cream, it was still not an enjoyable experience, especially if you're expecting classic French toast. That said the eggs Benedict was phenomenal. The pork is perfectly cooked. The biscuits are light and fluffy. And the sauce was immaculate. The Gudda grits surprise me while not being creamy in the same way of grit, I've had in the past, these retained their grit structure, but it kind of melted in your mouth, providing that creamy texture and they add chopped bacon and a sweet I would guess type of reduction in just the right amount to balance the flavor of the Gudda. I do wish they had sausage and hash browns. But it's not that kind of place. My last complaint would be in the potatoes that come with the Benedict. Whatever other option, they have picked those get anything, but those ours came undercooked, and they refried them for us, and they still were just below average which for a place like this. I expected more. Overall, not a bad place. The coffee was phenomenal. I had a dirty Matcha, and it was perfectly executed. Prices aren't terrible for what you'd expect from downtown St Pete at a fancy place, so I was happy. Service was good and friendly. After I expressed my dissatisfaction with the French toast, the manager came over and offered his apologies and remove the item from my bill, even offered to bring us something else, and to have a beverage to go to make up for it. However, I was at the end of our mail and I was ready to get going with the rest of my day, so I said thank you and we departed. Overall, I will not come back for French toast but that eggs Benedict. I would definitely come back and try something else as well. Give it a shot. Just DONT get the French toast. If you like normal French toast.

We had to book several days ahead of time, and after our experience, it makes perfect sense--Sōl St Pete Bistro is truly something special. The service was beyond phenomenal. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly kind, down to earth, knowledgeable, and attentive. She made us feel genuinely welcomed and made sure we were very well taken care of throughout the evening. The ambiance was exactly what you'd want for a romantic dinner--quiet, dimly lit, elegant, and intimate, with comfortable seating and a charming atmosphere. The food was more memorable than I can properly describe. Every ingredient is thoughtfully sourced, with an obvious commitment to organic, grass-fed, clean ingredients, even down to the butter, while avoiding things like seed oils or unnecessary additives. Their commitment to using goat and sheep cheeses instead of conventional dairy brought such a refined, elevated quality to several dishes. I was surprised by how much I loved the salad, since I'm not normally a huge salad person. The gluten-free sourdough garlic bread was celiac-safe and such a fun, unique thing to try--you just don't see that everywhere. The French onion soup was delectable, and the use of sheep cheddar gave it such a unique, rich flavor. For the main course, I ordered the turkey bolognese lasagna with sheep & goat ricotta, and it was mouth-wateringly good. I truly savored every bite. My husband ordered the filet mignon gnocchi, and we planned to split both dishes. I'll admit, I was a little nervous giving up half of my lasagna because I wasn't sure I'd like the gnocchi as much--but I was very wrong. Both dishes were absolutely perfect. The filet mignon was juicy, the sauce was deeply flavorful, and the gnocchi had the perfect texture. We finished with the ganache torte and chocolate chip cookies, and I can't even describe how amazing those cookies were. I genuinely could not speak while eating my half. It's incredible how something as simple as a chocolate chip cookie could taste like it was baked with that much love. Easily one of the top three cookies I've ever had--and I've had many, lol. This dining experience completely exceeded our expectations. I'm already dreaming about going back to try new dishes while also ordering some of the ones I already fell in love with. I honestly still can't decide what was better--the food or the service. I'm so grateful we discovered this incredible restaurant, because it is officially my new favorite.
