Plus, way more expensive by a mile. In contrast, I received a quote for $75 to tow the rental to the rental car yard. (Other quotes much higher.) When we got to the yard Tommy helped me get my belongings out of the rental (they are a locksmith too) and also drove me back to the airport. I can't express my gratitude enough! They overcharge me to remove my car from the front of my own house. My wife is pregnant and we were loading our car with our video equipment, we have a written concern from the apartment owners to put the car there, we can't leave the car they but, it is ok to put it there when loading or unloading the car. This guy can really fast and lifted the front of my car and then he charged us 65 dollars to bring it down. This is not a service, this is stealing people's money. read more

These people are a predatory tow company. My girlfriend who lives in Grenadier Lakes which is run by Welleby management association asked me to park in her assigned parking space for the unit she resides in. I had tools I use in my profession so I backed my vehicle up in the assigned parking space. Unloaded my tools and belongings to keep them safe. I went to bed and woke up early to do some work and saw that my car missing. I woke my girlfriend to ask her if she moved my car which she had not. I located my keys and told her that I was going to call the police which she said I should first contact the towing company which post signs around the property. Apron reaching them they acknowledged they had towed my vehicle because it was illegally parked. I explained that the vehicle was in the assigned spot for the residence. They told me that the vehicle was backed into the spot and the monitoring company for the association contacted them. They stated the tow fee was $130.52 and storage fees would start if I didn't pick my car up. Disbelief of what kind of scab organization was behind something like that. I arrived at there location one hour after they had towed my car and was forced to pay a fee of $130.52 and if using a credit card it would be +3%. They asked for my registration which was in my car. They wouldn't allow me to retrieve it, I was not allowed on the lot but they would take my keys and rifle through my glove box and get it for me (because I backed in). If out of sheer principle of how they do business I how this review will dissuade you from ever using any services from this company. Sonic Lock'N Tow is probably one of the few businesses that I have found to be excellent and wonderful in everyway, since moving here to South Florida three years ago. This place is a complete scam, they towed 4 cars today from my apartment complex today of which was mine when my registration was only two days late, when I said I will go get the paperwork to show him he said okay I'll wait...then took off with my car, then my neighbor had the same thing happen to her and we are here now trying to get our cars back, she found him towing her car outside so she rushed out to see what was going on with her baby in her hand and he said it would be $65 for her to get her car back, so she ran in to get the money and he said he would wait, and she ran in put her baby down got the money, and ran out and he was taking off with her car, she rushed and followed him with her husband's car asking him what tow place will it be at, and that she has the 65 cash and he says "well too late now I've left the preeminence so now it's 200" I've never heard of such a thing, how can someone take off with your car if they say that they're going to wait for you to give him the money, what a complete scam! And they're not even supposed to tow a car less it's 60 days late on the registration and I was only 2 days late!!! Last Thursday night, after having one too many drinks at the bar, I blacked out. The next morning I woke up in my bed with no memory of the night before, and my keys were missing. After a few days, I gave up the search and started calling local locksmiths. On my set of keys was the only ignition key to my Yamaha scooter, which was still parked in the lot of the local bar with a note begging not to be towed. My search for a locksmith began on Yelp as does my search for most things. I needed a new key cut from my ignition, and received two quotes: $160 and $200 from two other locksmiths with great 5 star ratings. A third locksmith referred me to Sonic, and I received a quote of $145 via text message. At first, I decided not to go with Sonic, because I looked them up on Yelp and saw only a 1 star review that sounded pretty ominous. But after trying, I couldn't get the other guys to meet me when I needed them. I decided to try Sonic after further text messages, and I was told that if he couldn't cut the key, there would be no charge, so I figured I didn't have much to lose. The Sonic guy, whose name I don't recall, arrived on time in a parking lot in Wilton Manors where my scooter remained untowed. At first, it sounded like he may need to order a longer key, but he tinkered around with what he had and was able to cut my new ignition key! It took about 15 - 20 minutes. My Sonic locksmith was very polite, on time, and saved me $15-$55! It is hard for me to imagine that he is the same guy from the bad review. Anyway, my experience was good. I work for a valet company and called sonic to cut a new key for one that we lost on the lot. We ended up finding the key before they got there and the technician tried charging us $95 for a "service call" $95?? Sonic was going to charge us $150 for the replacement key and $95 for just showing up and no key? I received rude and insulting calls and texts from the dispatcher after they were told we had found the key. I threatened to file a complaint with the BBB and the guy told me they weren't listed! what a joke! NEVER use these guys for anything. read more

I woke up Saturday morning (9/19/15) and went to start my car -- it started, then died, started and then died, did this about 3-4 more times before it just wouldn't start anymore. Naturally, my first thought was my battery or starter are bad. I spent majority of the day troubleshooting possible reasons of why this was happening. I finally gave up and decided to call a tow truck and get it taken to a buddy's mechanic shop. As the tow truck was in the driveway, I noticed the security light flashing on the dash which could have something to do with my key and computer. I called a locksmith who didn't offer mobile service and was eventually referred to Sonic Locksmith. After talking with Sky, he reassured me that it was definitely my key and that he would be able to come to me immediately, cut and program a new key and I would be on my way. Not only did he travel from Hollywood to Pompano Beach in 25 minutes but he was literally on site for 20 minutes before he was done. Hearing my car start was a thing of beauty, I was stressing badly thinking I'd have to spend all day at the mechanic on Monday and miss out on work at my warehouse. No work = no money, my stress level was high. Sky took great care of me and he definitely made a customer for life. My husband and I went out for my birthday on Friday night and when we were packing up to leave our vacation place, we couldn't find the key to our 2014 4 Runner. My husband contacted the valet from where we had dinner the night before and they didn't have the key. A nice vacation with friends went bad when my teenager left her car at a PUBLIX parking lot in Fort Lauderdale. It got towed within 24 hours. When she went to retrieve the vehicle, the tow company SONIC LOCK N TOW refused to release the vehicle to her because the title was in her parents name due to her being too young to buy a car and have adequate credit as a college student. Both parents, living in another state, worked for over 5 hours to send any documentation that may be needed to the tow company to release the car so the teenager was not stranded 13 hours away from her residence. Her pre-paid reservations at the hotel was up. Parents living in another state, sent pictures of their driver's license, insurance cards, willing to send the title of the car and emailed to the tow company their required Hold Harmless Form signed by the parent and notarized. The towing company refused all of this and required the owners to either be there in person or have the original hold harmless form mailed - signed and notarized - no copies or emails. Teenager was refused her car and spent 24 hours waiting on documentation to be Fed Ex'd. read more

The worst experience with a tow company possible Nobody wants to have to make the dreaded call to a tow company I was new in town I had all of my belongings in the truck to start my new job and not to mention I had my dog with me a very friendly loving dog who is starting to overheat in the hot Florida sun the driver shows up finally late but I wasn't worried about it I finally had somebody here he told me the dog is not coming along my heart sank my dog goes everywhere I do he's super friendly never met anybody that didn't like my dog he works as a therapy dog with children just you get the picture he's a great dog but I understand not everyone loves dogs so I confirm the address with the guy driving the truck of where the vehicle will be delivered to and proceed to arrange a ride for my dog and myself we get there to my house no problem the only problem is my truck is still not there I called the company they acted as if they didn't know who I was I had to call back once again and finally they go oh yeah your truck yeah we need more money for what my truck was parked on level ground in a parking lot they claimed it was in a ditch there was no ditch it was in a gas station parking lot they held my vehicle until they received more money and I had to call home to my mom to borrow money being that I just moved here by the time I was able to get everything done they wanted storage fees on top of it This is now day two The company finally agrees they will drop my truck off they drop it off at the wrong address into my new neighbors driveway already starting off on a great foot in a new neighborhood and blocking up my neighbor from his parking I called the company back the employee at night was exceedingly rude and very hard to understand on the phone her name was Mercedes I'm thinking great and this is just great I explain the situation and her comment was well how is that my problem we got our money the job is completed I don't know I was raised a job is not completed unless it's done properly and this company failed miserably absolutely horrible they should not be in business they extort money out of people and take advantage Of honest hard-working people and FYI not dog friendly read more

My son totaled his car. He called rode side assistance. Sonic answered the call. The guy that responded was so unprofessional , he listen to rap music really loud all the way to drop the car. Since my son drives this route all the time he told the driver the best route the driver put his hand in his face and said " I got this my man" When he tried to pull the car in at the destination he almost hit grandmas car my son gasp the guy's temper exploded he said as he put his finger in my sons face " that's the last warning or...... so my son said or what? They both jumped out of the truck, He showed his phone to my son and said I've been texting corporate all during the drive about what an ass hole you are. He got out told my husband and I my son has been drinking and is a ass hole. He said that my son badgered him all the way. He kept trying to engage my son in an alteration to fight. My son went into the house the guy continue to rant on us. Very scary. The truth is my son got in an accident very close to his work place right after work so no way he was drinking. He picked the wrong guy to accuse of drinking , my son doesn't drink. I asked my son about the conversation with this guy, he stated he said nothing but thank you for being so prompt and then a couple of directions .
