True to Pearson testing sites they are not messing around with security! Head shots, palm vein readings, multiple forms of ID, etc....they definitely make sure that it's you! The testing room itself was clean and the proctor made sure that it was quiet in there. Very nice sized lockers to store your belongings and ample parking...you can't go wrong with this testing center!

Scheduling the class series is easy, but it's trying to schedule the 5 drives, then final drive exam that is a challenge. Website for both Puyallup and Graham would fill up in minutes, and same for attempts to call to book. The biggest challenges are demand (they literally need 2 more locations in East Pierce), not enough instructors, combined with allowing instructors to provide availability one week at a time instead of a set work schedule. So drives fill up FAST and can't be booked in advance. It often took 2-3 phone calls - per drive - to try to find an open drive time between both Puyallup and Graham. For very busy teens and organized Moms this process was exhausting. Far better to offer a package, even for a fee, where the drives are a pre-booked date & time, like every other Saturday at 9am (example) and *booked in advance.* The school's priority is ensuring students know how to drive safely and practice between drives. Parents want that too. But they truly need to either add locations or find a way to allow advance booking for drives. Hoping this review helps encourage growth and operational improvements.

My high functioning ASD son attended this camp for part of the last two summers (2016 & 2017) when no other camps could take him due to his support needs. While the counselors don't appear to have much (or any) special training for these kids, my son really enjoyed the camp. However, I would like to see the camp try to integrate more therapy into their program, instead it's more like baby sitting. Last summer my son told me he didn't get to go on the daily outing due to misbehavior. Instead he had to stay behind and clean. I was very angry about this and spoke with the director about it. I didn't mind that my son had consequences for his behavior, but I did mind that he was left out of one of the main daily activities. And after talking with the director, they couldn't even tell me what he had done. Overall, if you're desperate for a camp that will take your child due to special needs (as I was), this will suffice. But if you can find (or afford) better, then I would recommend doing so.

What stands out the most to me is how much the school truly focuses not only on the children, but also on the families. Even though there are several students in each classroom, the organization, education, and individual attention given to every child is phenomenal. The teachers and staff genuinely listen to the needs of each student and family, and that level of care is something very special and rare to find. As a mother who previously had a very negative experience with another school with my older child, finding Discovery completely changed my perspective and restored my trust in what a school community should feel like. Unfortunately, when I moved to this area, my older son was already too old to attend this school, and I truly wish he could have experienced the same environment my daughter has had here. One of the things I appreciate most is how they work hard to keep children active and involved, especially for families who may not have the resources for expensive extracurricular activities. The after-school activities, family events, flag football, choir practice, singing activities, and the way they bring families together create such a beautiful sense of community. The parents have gotten to know one another, the children create strong friendships, and the environment feels welcoming and supportive for everyone. The decision-making process appeared to favor certain groups within the parish, leaving some students and families feeling excluded and undervalued. My concern is not with celebrating any culture or heritage, which can be a wonderful part of a school community. Rather, it is whether all students were treated equally and given the same respect regardless of their ethnic background. When school leaders and board members make decisions that appear to benefit one group more than others, it can create a perception of bias and division. Future students and families should pay attention to how decisions are made, whether all voices are heard, and whether the school's actions reflect its stated values of inclusion, fairness, and respect for every child.
