Only after the fact did I see onions rings but thought the burger was enough. No prices on the menu which made me suspicious but how much would a sort of fast food/diner cost me? Didn't expect to pay over $8 but yep. Quite a lot. The burger was only okay. Nothing unique. Nothing to write home about at all. The chili was only slightly different from a Sonic chili burger and honestly, Sonic has more flavor in theirs sadly. I wasn't offered any options for the chili burger and none listed on the menu. Chili burger is what the menu says and that's what you get. No option for onions or grilled onions or anything else. It's definitely not worth $8. Maaaaaybe $4-6 and $6 being generous. $8 should come with fries at least. Basic flavor. Basic presentation. Then you're most likely feeling the need to tip on top of that. The parking area was at least clean. People coming and going makes you think it's a popular spot but makes me wonder if there's better places to go even if I had to walk inside. Great place to pick up food for the kids, grandparents or a quick bite but don't expect much if you want flavor. You pay more than what you get.

A very friendly lady at the counter took my order and recommended the burger. She told me that the burgers are fresh and they form their own patties in house. The bread is also fresh and I got my on the Jalepeno bun. The burger was just like she said fresh, adequately seasoned, with fresh beef, bun, and fixings. The burger was spot on and tasty. This place is easy to miss but worth the trip if you close by. I was told they have wings on Wednesday and fish on Fridays. Hopefully the area will come out and keep them in business. I would hate to see this little gem go away.

It's located in an ancient gas station/auto repair building and they haven't done anything to fix it up. But it absolutely fits with the food they serve. BBQ ain't alta cucina and in some ways the more rude the setting, the more appropriate it is. At any rate, they played good music--CCR, Fleetwood Mac, America, Dion and the Belmonts, etc. Bottom line, as long as joints as good as Pitforks and Smokerings and The Shack are open in the Lubbock area, I don't see any reason to be bothering with the lines and lack of seating at Evie Mae's. These are the local joints that are getting my cue money for the foreseeable future.
