But with the Progeny at camp and the pup walked to somnolence, the Pardner and I finally had a chance to check this place out. Pros: - There's often live music -- without a cover! We saw the talented Eran Troy Danner perform. - The house-brewed beers are varied and delicious. We tried the Amarillo Sky Double IPA, Sacred Grounds Coffee Porter, and the Pirates and Parrots Island Lager, made in three very distinct styles. The Amarillo Sky reminded me of Lawson's Sip o' Sunshine, though a bit less hoppy. Pirates and Parrots would be a perfect session beer. It's fantastically refreshing in the heat. I have to wonder whether the Sacred Grounds Coffee Porter has anything to do with the excellent Sacred Grounds Coffee in Sherman, CT -- but either way, it's very tasty. - The bathrooms are clean!!! They're probably the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen in a drinking establishment of any kind in the US. - The staff are really nice and friendly, affirmatively helpful. - There's a nice looking food menu. It was a little early for dinner, for us, but we'd love to head back... someday when we are again sans Progeny. - There is an air conditioned indoor space one can retreat to if it's really, really hot out. But the expansive outdoor area out back is where most of the action seems to be when weather permits. Cons: - No dogs allowed - No humans allowed under 21 I am tempted to ding a star because those are big fat cons for us. But... given those delicious beers, the clean bathrooms, the great live music... I can't. This place is sweet.

Housatonic River Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in New Milford, Connecticut in September…read more2018. It was founded by brewer Dave Littlefield. With brewery experience dating back to the 1980s, Littlefield had owned and operated Harbor Lights Brewing Company in Dana Point, California during the 1990s. A couple of non-brewery jobs later, Littlefield had relocated to Connecticut and looked to open a new brewery. He purchased a 7-acre property along the banks of the Housatonic River in New Milford. In addition to brewing good beer, Littlefield's goal was to create a venue that the community would appreciate and enjoy. The brewery features a large rustic taproom, a stage for live musical acts to perform, and a large seasonal beer garden under a pavilion. In addition to the housemade beer, HRB also serves wine, cider, craft cocktails, and a large menu of delicious food from their in-house kitchen. In May 2024, Littlefield purchased the former Quirk Works Brewing & Blendery space in Danbury for HRB to use as a secondary production facility. I recently visited Housatonic River Brewing for the first time. I had heard that they host a lot of live music acts and I purchased a ticket to see NYC-based Rush tribute band "Moving Pictures". I'm a HUGE Rush fan, so I was really excited to see the group perform. I arrived over an hour before the show started and grabbed a table close to the stage. There was a modest crowd when I first arrived, but the whole taproom was packed by the time the show started. After looking over the menu, I started off with a plate of "Smoked Macaroni & Cheese" (smoked bacon jalapeño macaroni & cheese) and "Cornbread" (w/ cinnamon honey butter). Afterwards, I moved onto a "Gourmet Brisket Grilled Cheese" (three cheeses between perfectly grilled rustic sourdough toast w/ bacon & jalapeños & fries). Everything was fantastic, especially that heavenly grilled cheese! Throughout my visit, I enjoyed pours of "Uncle Bock" (Doppelbock), "Less Gentle On My Mind" (Double New England IPA), and "Remedy" (Imperial Stout). They were all good, especially the latter two. Moving Pictures also gave an excellent performance to the very energetic crowd. Overall, I had quite an enjoyable evening and I hope to return to HRB!

She stated that she felt it was missing a meat and that the shell was a bit overpowering. A Cannoli waffle was also enjoyed. Good cannoli filling and a lot of whipped cream. A little bit of cinnamon would've gone a long way. French toast + deep fried bacon. Excellently crispy bacon. Solid diner French toast. Recommend investing in adding a bit of whipped butter to put it over the top. Hot chocolate: Similar to Swiss miss. A classic.

"Holy Unexpected Diner Experience, Batman!"…read more That's exactly what ran through my mind as I limped away from a tire blowout in New Milford, CT. While the tire shop warned me it'd be a long wait (my car apparently decided to audition for "Most Dramatic Vehicle of 2025"), my son, daughter, and I wandered across the street to 3 Brothers Diner... expecting, you know, a normal diner. BAM! POW! WHAM! We walked straight into what can only be described as the Batcave of dining. Every inch--every single inch--of this diner is covered in Batman memorabilia. From ceiling-swooping Batplanes to walls lined with Dark Knight treasures, it's like stepping into the Caped Crusader's personal brunch headquarters. Gotham could only dream of such ambiance. The place is spotless, the staff friendlier than Alfred offering warm advice, and the food? Absolutely delicious. I had the lasagna--cheesy, saucy, perfect. My son devoured his Philly cheesesteak like it was fuel for fighting crime. My daughter kept it classic with eggs, toast, and home fries, all perfectly cooked. Honestly, if you ever find yourself with a blown tire, car troubles, or just a sudden and overwhelming desire to dine with the Dark Knight--3 Brothers Diner is your spot. To the Bat-Diner!

Their slogan needs to be, "If we can make it homemade, we will!"…read more To start I ordered the chicken and rice soup. It was super good and clearly, homemade. Oh! And only $5.00 for a bowl. Really!! Next we ordered a Reuben with extra crispy fries. They came out perfectly done with just the right amount of crispiness on the outside and tenderness on the inside. It also came with cole slaw, again, homemade The sandwich was served in seedless rye. When I asked the server, Sam, about where it was made he said it was brought in from a baker in NY. The corned beef was exceptional and, again homemade. The first thing you see when you walk in is their big dessert case. We didn't have room but we sure wanted to get something. When you go, mind your appetite. In other words, LEAVE ROOM. We will be going back, When I asked about where the desserts were made I was told that they are all made in premises, too! Surprise! Sam, our server was amazing. He made us feel like we were his only clients but without overdoing it. It's a nice place to sit and eat. It's so reminiscent of a classic NYC diner. If you're passing through, you should stop. Bon appétit.

Food (4.8) Service (3.9) Ambiance (4.5)…read more Second visit, where the first time we needed to stop for pizza on the way home because the 2 mains we ordered were just not enough. We weren't sure if it was us or the serving sizes, so didn't yelp. After good feedback from a few locals (Jane D!) we decided to try again and this time added on 2 apps for the 4 of us, and boy those apps were good. The Street Corn Nachos were very good, just a tad burned around the outside, as often the case with nachos, so no biggie. The KFC Bao was very good, extremely flavorful as reported by others, must try! I had the Chicken Milanese which I enjoyed a lot. Very flavorful yet just a tad salty, from a guy who loves salt, from what others tell me... Nice size serving. My buddy and son had the smashburger which looked great, they loved the burger and I tried the fries which were superb but came out a bit cold. Picky son said the bun was "ordinary". He knows his breads... Wife had the Curry Shrimp which she enjoyed very much. Nice tap beer selection and a very full bar menu and warm looking bar and clientele. Service was a bit off. Pleasant yet didn't pay enough attention. Help Served apps without plates and server took way too long to notice and fix. She was very nice, maybe a bit overloaded. We sat outside this time because the music inside was a bit too loud for us to chat comfortably. Inside is relaxed seating mostly overlooking a nice bar, fine for any occasion, not at all formal, so any attire would be fine. Very clean, including the well appointed/decorated genderless bathrooms. All of us left very satisfied and prices were fair, as expected. We found the experience very satisfying and portions were just fine. Heard the desserts are great, will try next time! We will return!

It was a hot day, and while they have a really nice outdoor seating area, we were more than happy to head inside and cool off. Sara immediately welcomed us with water and shared a little about the menu. I loved seeing that much of the draft beer selection featured local microbreweries... so naturally, I dove right in! The food was creative, fresh and full of flavor. We shared the mushroom potstickers, broccoli Caesar salad and a fresh local tomato soup that was so good we honestly could have ordered another. The service was spot-on, the modern-kitsch atmosphere was fun and inviting, and Sara really added to the experience. We loved our lunch at Sparrow and enjoyed everything so much that we're already planning to come back and work our way through more of the menu.
