The atmosphere was fun and relaxed, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring Cape May. I'm glad I formed my own opinion instead of relying on the reviews. I'd definitely come back. The Ahi tuna on a fried wanton, mango, cucumber, avocado, seaweed salad, with siracha for the kick! The tuna was fresh and tender on the fried wanton was delicious. The calamari was not the best. It was mostly batter. I barely tasted the squid.each piece was small and For our main entrees we ordered the following: Crab cake dinner came with asparagus and rice. The crab cakes were big with no fillers. The rice was not fully cooked, there was still some crunch when you ate it. So we had it replaced with mash potatoes. And that was so good. Fish and chips: for the price, the 3 pieces of fish were very disappointing! There were barely any fish for the 3 pieces. It was mostly hallow in the batter. Check out my pictures. But the fries were good. Imperial flounder: three from our group ordered this. The portion was big! The flounder was soft and tender, added the stuffed crab was even better! My only issue with this was there was barely any seasoning! Which was fine in this case because we had people with high blood pressure. We had to add a little salt and pepper for some taste. Seared salmon - dinner special. My daughter had it cooked medium, but it came out a little more than medium. There was no raw pink in the middle. The salmon was good, but it came out bland with no searing. This was good too for my daughter since we don't want her to get use to eating salty food. Overall, this place is decent.

It was served with potato chips, and I would've preferred a choice instead of chips, but that doesn't seem to be an option. The fish was perfectly cooked and served with fries and coleslaw. My friend said the lobster bisque was delicious. We sat inside since it was a chilly day, but there is an option for outdoor seating. The inside has a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Today, we returned with our family for dinner and, since it was a beautiful day, we chose to sit outside on the patio. I decided to try the made-to-order white oyster stew, which features six whole oysters and follows one of Baltimore's oldest recipes, for $12.50. It was unlike any oyster stew I have ever had, but since I actually prefer my oysters raw rather than cooked in a stew, I doubt I would order it a second time. Louise provided us with excellent service throughout the evening. My total bill came to $, excluding gratuity, and I covered it using a gift card. We will definitely be back again for lunch, dinner, or happy hour.

Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to the potential. We started with the nachos, which were probably the biggest disappointment. They tasted more like something you'd find in a school cafeteria than an appetizer from a restaurant. The wings weren't much better. Instead of being crisp on the outside, they arrived soggy and lacked the texture you want from a good wing. The burgers were the real low point. More than one person in our party described them as a hockey puck placed between two pieces of bread, and honestly, that assessment felt pretty accurate. The patties were dry and lacked the flavor you'd normally expect from a good burger. It's a shame because the Rusty Nail has so much going for it from an atmosphere and setting perspective. Unfortunately, the food left us feeling like the experience didn't match the potential of the place. Maybe we caught it on an off night, but based on our meal, it's not somewhere we would running back to in the future.

My partner and I came for Sunday brunch with a reservation for 11:00 am. We were seated promptly…read moreand served a pitcher of water and started chowing down. We went right for the seafood. Lots of crab clusters (nice size), large headless shrimp and fresh oysters. Cocktail sauce in a bowl and a cup with horseradish with small empty cups you could take to mix together. The seafood was all good - plentiful, cold, flavorful. We didn't try the eggs, sausage, bacon or breakfast potatoes - standard fare at brunch buffets. The eggs had cheese mixed it (just to let you know). We did try try the salmon, shrimp and grits (with sausage and cherry tomatoes) - delicious, and the penne with sausage and shrimp. Also very good. The menace for the penne and the grits - very buttery. Very good. We each had an omelette that we ordered with crab, shrimp and veggies and no cheese. They both came with cheese unfortunately. The server offered to have the chef make new ones but I didn't want to waste all the crab meat and shrimp. So I just ate the innards of mine and my partner ate theirs. The innards were delicious and there was a lot of crab meat and shrimp in the omelette. The weak point was the chicken and waffles. The waffle was fine but the chicken was dried out. Really too bad - everything else was delicious and well prepared. Fresh fruit and small pastries/yogurt parfait for dessert. The fruit was very juicy and fresh (I had cantaloupe and pineapple). Note that they charge separately for coffee, tea and soft drinks. ($4 for coffee on top of a $50 buffet). It was really good coffee. One suggestion I would make is to add a veggie entree - like a tray of green beans in olive oil/garlic or something else simple. Not many veggies in this brunch other than potato salad and green salad. I would dock a half point for the omelette issue and the dried out chicken, but, other than those things the food was really good and the service was good. I assume the omelette thing was a one off. The place is nice. Well lit and I enjoyed the old rock music (70's - 90's) playing not too loudly in the room.

I understand it's peak season and the Fourth of July weekend, so I expected things to be busy. Our…read moreserver was friendly and pleasant throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience fell well below expectations. We waited about 20 minutes just to receive our drinks, and some people in our party didn't even have water, requiring us to ask multiple times just to get a glass. The timing of the food was also disappointing. We had specifically requested that the salads be served before the entrées, but everything arrived at the same time. Two burgers were cooked well beyond the requested temperature, and several items were forgotten altogether. When we mentioned the missing items, there didn't seem to be any sense of urgency to correct the situation. The biggest disappointment was an order of oysters that didn't arrive until after everyone else had nearly finished their meals. What surprised me most was that, despite all of these issues, a manager never once stopped by our table to check on us or acknowledge that things weren't going well. A simple visit to apologize, explain the delays, or offer assistance would have gone a long way. I understand holiday weekends are challenging for restaurants, but this felt like more than just a busy night. It seemed like there was something off with the system or process being used to manage tables, food timing, and communication between the kitchen and front-of-house staff. The good news is that this feels fixable. Better coordination, communication, and support for the serving staff--and more visible involvement from management when problems arise--would likely prevent many of the issues we experienced and make for a much better customer experience.
