At the top of its Main Street sits a grand, neo-classical courthouse. At its bottom is a lumbering old hotel. In-between is Nostalgia Creamery, adding no small amount of charm of its own, and dishing up delicious ice cream. The space is decorated by a mastermind. Glowing lightbulbs read "Nostalgia Creamery." Painted ice cream cones adorn the walls. There is pink everywhere, alongside neon green. Some vinyl records and an old cash register (covered in candy) add to the ambiance. The whole package is one of a vague sense of fondness for old things: there's a touch of the 1950s, a touch of the 1980s, and a whole lot of cuteness. The space isn't just about the atmosphere. Customers are here for ice cream --- and ice cream they receive. There are about two dozen flavors to choose from, along with the expected options for cones, toppings, and so forth. The staff can make any flavor into a milkshake, which is what I went for: a peach milkshake on a 100-degree day absolutely hit the spot. For those who like candy, it's for sale by the pound. If you want to linger inside the darling space (and who wouldn't), there's free wi-fi and ample seating.
