We were greeted walking in and told to sit where we wanted, so we grabbed a table by a window. Our server came over with menus and made us feel at home. She got our drink orders and returned promptly. She was friendly, kind and professional. We started with some appetizers, their fries pickles, fried mushrooms and the mac and cheese bites. All three were good, The pickles good, the mushrooms and mac n cheese very good. The bites were the best of all three. I went for the fried Chicken with mash and cream gravy, and green beans. The chicken was very good, fried golden brown, tender and juicy inside. A nicely prepared meal. The mash and gravy were also very good. The green beans, old school, like grandma made. This is home style cooking done very well. All in all, a solid choice for a meal. Good food, great service and a fair value. 4.5 Stars rounded up for our great server 01305

There was a long list of specials when you come into the restaurant that aren't all on the menu- so take note. They all sounded good. I had the patty melt with fries, which was piping hot and on tasty rye bread with plenty of sautéed onions. My lunch partner had a cheeseburger and fries. The hamburgers were hand pattied, tender, and juicy. This is a great stop right on I-55 at Hayti MO.

I had not look at the big board and didn't know it existed or didn't fully pay attention to the menu at the very top, so I missed out. And they had fried chicken and mashed potatoes which is a go to for me. Too bad I bet that was the ticket to satisfaction. The service was kind and attentive. The diner was what you'd think in a small town rural America. I can see that the people must like it so that says something.

The menu is pretty big. Allot of choices that sounded good. We started with salads and cheese bread. Then we ordered entrée's. Lobster, Ziti, and pepper steak. Dessert we had the tiramisu. We enjoyed the whole meal. Everything was surprisingly good. The service was very good. P.S. The waitress we had was very nice and very honest. I left my credit card at the restaurant. She took the card and immediately turned it in and had it locked up. I noticed the card missing the next day while checking out of the hotel. I rushed back to the restaurant and retrieved the card. Thank you for the honesty and awesome service.

I took a chance with their 10 ounce filet mignon steak, and am glad that I did. It was cooked precisely to my specifications: pan seared and browned, with zero charring. It included sides, so I went with a house salad and smashed potatoes. Both were tasty. The cup of chicken creole soup, however, wasn't really anything to write home about. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive. She really wanted to make sure that my meal was good. I sat in a booth, but it was a tight fit. The interior of the restaurant was pleasant and nicely decorated. If in the area, I would probably return, if only to try other items on the menu.

Service was quick and efficient because the place was nearly empty. After speaking with the waiter I ended up getting a Burrito Loco with steak and shrimp. It ended up being more expensive than I expected because the place charged separately for the proteins with a significant surcharge. The chips and salsa were average and the burrito was tasty; on par with Chipotle but not as special as I had hoped. While the burrito was generous in size, it was not exceptional in the amount of protein included. I'd say that this place is a 1/2 step above Chipotle because of its more extensive menu and variety. It's just not the bargain I expected when looking at the cost of the base items on the menu.
