I was so flattered! Rosemarie is usually booked up so I know I have to call in advanced to get an appointment. She is worth the wait, though! When I was out of the country, I had to go to another hairstylist because I couldn't hold out any longer (I waited 4 months!!) and it was a mess. I went back to her as soon as I got back to have the disaster fixed. Her prices are amazing!! AMAZING! Men's haircut is $20, Woman's haircut is around $40 and color varies depending on the hair length. For the haircut, she shampoos, cuts, blow dries, and then texturizes. She's an expert colorist and I've seen some of her clients that came from other salons to have their color fixed because it was a mess. I came a few minutes early and was seen right away, with no wait. I asked Emily what she thought I should do with my hair and she said she really liked my current cut and suggested a trim, taking off a half-inch. I was pleased with her honest judgement: I had gotten a cut in Montreal a few months back and was very happy with the cut except it was overgrown. She trimmed it quickly yet skillfully, blow dried my coarse wavy hair into a flattering style and then trimmed and textured the ends so the cut lays well. Best of all, my hair looks great even when I don't heat-style it. Dried naturally, the waves are nicely layered and just seem to fall into place--a sign of a good cut. I've tried a lot of places in Elmhurst, but this is the first place where I've gotten a great cut at a reasonable price ($35 with first-time customer discount, not incl. tip). This isn't a cutting-edge, hyped up salon--it's a comfortable, relaxed place, mostly patronized by middle-aged moms like me (as far as I could tell from my weekday afternoon visit). No frills, easy-going, no blasting music, no product-pushing. Just a great cut and great service. I'll be back! Disclosure: I will receive a $20 discount (or 20%, I can't remember) for this review, but I'd give Emily and the salon five stars anyway!

They have a couple manicure stations setup in front by the windows, so there is good lighting. The other windowfront is the home of their boutique. Filled with jewelry, handbags, hats, scarves and really cute tops - there's a lot to look at in that space! I need to devote more time right there on my next visit. The pedicure station is near the back of the salon for a more relaxed feel away from the guests coming in and out the front door. The stylists are setup throughout the Center along the walls. I also got ombre done from her last year (when it was in!), and I was really worried that it would turn out bad. I had never dyed my hair before, so it was understandable. She gave me a great ombre, and she said that if I did not like it come back and she will fix it. I left mortified and had to buy a wig just to appear in public until my hair grows back which will take over a year. I do not recommend trusting your hair to this instructor or this location.
