Rose is the absolute best! She has been cutting my hair since I was a child and I have never been disappointed. Whether you are here for a simple trim or going full out with highlights, a cut, and more, you can be sure that you will be taken care of. While Rose is usually quite busy, she will always do her best to make room in her schedule for you. I don't live in IL anymore, but whenever I come back to visit family, I always make sure to stop and see Rose. I don't trust any other hairdresser with my hair. I had been getting my hair cut the same way for so long. But, I recently decided to try something new and get highlights. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted so Rose dyed and styled my hair for me. Rosemarie is the best hairstylist! I'm always getting compliments on my hair and it's all thanks to the best hairstylist in the world. I was actually at a Yelp event once just having a good old time when someone behind me tapped me on my shoulders to tell me how great my highlights were. She wasn't even part of the Yelpers (just a restaurant patron) and was telling me that she is a hairdresser herself and she can spot a great highlight job when she sees it (that sounded redundant). I was so flattered! Rosemarie is usually booked up so I know I have to call in advanced to get an appointment. She is worth the wait, though! When I was out of the country, I had to go to another hairstylist because I couldn't hold out any longer (I waited 4 months!!) and it was a mess. I went back to her as soon as I got back to have the disaster fixed. Her prices are amazing!! AMAZING! Men's haircut is $20, Woman's haircut is around $40 and color varies depending on the hair length. For the haircut, she shampoos, cuts, blow dries, and then texturizes. She's an expert colorist and I've seen some of her clients that came from other salons to have their color fixed because it was a mess. I've been going to Gossip for awhile now and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. The shop is has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. More specifically I get my hair cut and colored by Danielle. I've never gotten so many compliments on my cut and color. She's great! I trust that she'll give me her honest opinion and never say something just to get me to do something just to run up my bill. CASE AND POINT: When I asked her about a cream gel she'd recommend after sharing with me the name of the "more pricey" product that they carry in the shop she shared with me an alternative I'd find at Target for half the cost. Danielle also the person I go to for a brow wax. She does a great job with this as well. When I asked her about threading my brows she said, "They did offer it, but she didn't know how so she could recommend someone else in the shop who did know how." Here's a bit of Gossip about Gossip Salon: Rumor has it that a customer once called them up five minutes before arriving, declared that she'd really like her sweaty-unwashed-gross hair to look good for a wedding that night, and that she even had the gall to ask them, "Oh... can this be done in less than an hour?" I'm spreading this rumor because, well, *I* was that customer... and yes, yes they can. I was home in Carol Stream for a friend's wedding, and the nice weather left me on a vacation-inspired run that lasted just a bit too long. Which resulted in a vacation-inspired hot shower that lasted just a bit too long. Which resulted in a frantic Yelp search for beauty salons right before I was supposed to leave for the wedding. Sam answered, said she'd be available, and was very surprised to see me walk in the door less than five minutes later. With some dry shampoo, dozens of bobby pins and her genius talent, she had me in 'n out in less than 45 minutes with the cutest hairstyle! Sam was super personable the entire time, and very accommodating. The lady working next to her was very charming and her customer seemed to be very happy with her finished locks as well. Across the way was a young, hip guy getting his hair dyed (is "frosting the tips" still a thing?). What I'm trying to say is, this seems like a place for everyone. Total charge was $50, which really wasn't so bad considering I probably took $10 worth of her bobby pins to keep my hair up. I was even more pleasantly surprised to find out the hairstyle held up through all the dancing (which is truly saying something, with songs like "Jump On It" on the playlist). Plus I was able to rock out the hairstyle the next day -- can vacation get any better?! I can't say I get my hair styled in Carol Stream often, since I'm just there twice a year, but for all my friends who do: rumor has it you should head to Gossip Salon. Thanks, Sam! read more

I have been seen Lisa for a number of years and followed her when she changed salons. Lisa recently styled my hair for my wedding. My hair turned out beautifully and I received a number of compliments on the color and style.. From only seeing a few "celebrity pictures" Lisa understood the color and style I was looking for and was able to create it perfectly. I found out one of their stylists, Jessica, was on Salon Apprentice and giving discounted services for hair models. She said the only difference between a model cut and a regular cut was the price and that her boss would check it before I left. I came in and she did a great job! When I showed up I wore my hair naturally and told her that it need to be tamed and if she messed up I would cry. She made sure that not a single tear was shed. My layers were even and when I said I thought one side of my bangs seemed longer she sat me back down and quickly snipped them to my liking. $20 salon haircut. Ain't nothing wrong with that. I found out Jessica is no longer at Gossip, so I don't know what I'll do. The other stylists and the manager were very friendly and professional, so I still recommend this place. read more

I found a Groupon and purchased it for this place. It was for a Spa Mani & Spa Pedi. When I first stopped at this place, I thought that appointments were not necessary. But I was wrong. A few weeks later, I called and was able to make one easily. Beth is the one that does the nail care at Gossip Salon. The atmosphere of this place is very modern. It is also kept very clean. Good choice of music too. During my visit, Beth was able to accommodate me first by asking if I needed anything to drink. Then she let me soak me feet in their sink for about 5 minutes. That felt amazing. Then she continued with working on my feet. They had a good selection of nail polish. Beth did an amazing job on my fingers and toes. She gave amazing massages for my legs and arms. I was definitely in the zone when she was giving them. The body cream and body scrub that was used smelled so good. I almost wanted to get a bottle of them for myself. This visit was definitely amazing and will go back when I need to splurge on myself. read more

Go to Rosemarie. Hands down, she's the best in the Midwest from IL to MO. I don't live in IL anymore but I visit a few times a year. She has saved my hair a couple of times. Once for when someone else butchered my haircut (that was the first time I went to her) and just yesterday when TWO other people in MO could not get my red peekaboo highlights correct! If I lived here, I would go all the time and I have officially decided I will wait until my IL visits to have anyone else touch my hair. Yay! This is my 100th review :D I was pretty happy with my overall experience at Gossip Salon. Making my appointment was quick and the price was really good. I often cut my own hair so paying almost a hundred bucks for a cut, blow dry, and tip always seemed so wasteful to me. During the usual small talk my hairdresser (Jessica) told me I looked way too young to have 2 kids. Perhaps a star just for that! Who doesn't love flattery? Lol. The clientele consisted of friendly regulars that were chatting up a storm. Jessica did a great job on my hair and actually listened to what I wanted, which is surprising rare in my experience... She did however get some of my hair tangled in the rear end of the blow dryer while she was drying my hair. :( I heard the dreaded crunching and crackling sound it makes. You long-haired ladies or gents know the sound I'm talking about. Before I could pull away or speak up, the damage was done. It's okay it was an isolated incident and the overall experience was still great. :) read more

Rosemarie is friendly and engaging while at the same time very technically competent. It's easy to get ahold of her to schedule appointments. The price is very reasonable. HORRIBLE customer service I had been going to Gabriella for my balayage since 2017. During my last visit I got my balayage done with her and I ended up not liking it when I got home because the stylist had said one thing and done another. So I told her within a couple days and asked her if I could come in again so she could fix it. She was VERY RUDE and was very unwilling to fix it. Not only did she make me feel bad about voicing my opinions on the service but she kept reiterating the fact that she has many other paying customers. I even tried researching on my own about the exact color formula that I wanted for the highlights and wrote down the specifics in hairstylist lingo although she completely disregarded it and made me feel stupid for putting it together. To top it all off she charged me for fixing my hair to my liking even though I didn't go home happy the the first time she did the balayage. Please learn to treat your customers with respect. Also, always remember that the CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT and if you don't send the customer home happy then you didn't do your job. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SALON or HER TO ANYONE. read more

I went to Gossip Salon on Saturday 8/6 for a haircut with Bella. I arrived for the appointment and she was waiting for me. I showed her a few pictures of what I wanted before hand and she also make some suggestions that would work nice with the pictures I showed. best haircut I've gotten in, well, since I can remember. after chopping it all off at a salon that shall remain nameless in chicago 6 months ago, I have been growing growing growing it. went in and saw Terri today- brought pictures of what I wanted, and low and behold- she did it ex-actly how I wanted. a 180 from my chop off in the city. the facts: cuts are 40 bucks- shampoo, cut, and style. but mine took 90 min, so quite a deal. this salon is super new- will be 1 year old this february. read more

I purchased a discount coupon for an hour long massage at Gossip Salon on Double Take Deals. I tried to use the deal on numerous occassions to no avail. The first time I called to make an appointment I was told there was only one massage therapist and that I would have to call her cell because they don't make appointments for her. Though I thought this was odd, I complied and called her cell, left a message and she called me back a couple hours later when we set an appointment. Upon arriving, I was asked to take a seat and after 5 minutes the massage therapist came out to tell me she had double booked and apologized but I would have to reschedule. I was really ticked off because I had to take the afternoon off of work because her evening hours were very limited. I told her I would call back to reschedule because at that point I wasnt sure that I would be giving them a second chance. Ultimately, I did try again because it was already paid for so I called to make a second appointment. This time I took a whole day off work to pamper myself. Upon arriving at the salon around 10:15 for my 10:30 appointment, I was told that she wasn't there yet and should be soon. Around 10:45a they tried calling her and couldnt get an answer. There was no receptionist on duty so one of the stylist kept coming to check on me every 10 minutes or so even though she had a client as well. The stylist finally called the owner who told got on the phone with me and told me that she doesnt make the therapists appointments and didnt know what to tell me. She did aplogize but made it sound as if it was my fault. She asked for my address and said that she would send over a gift card for me to use at the salon and that they would call to reschedule my appointment at a different time. Needless to say, after about 4 months I have never received the gift card or a corresponding phone call. The deals has since expired and I obviously was never able to use it. Aside from the girls that I met in the salon itself (the stylists) who were incredibly nice, there was nothing professional or classy about this place. I guess you live and you learn with these deal sites. read more

Went to Gossip for the first time today. I am new in the area and looking for a salon not too far away from home. I gave the stylist a good amount of freedom to work with my medium length hair and let her know that although I don't want to have to spend too much time on it in the morning I would be willing to put more maintenance into a very stylish cut. My hair cut was ok, and just a tailored version of what I already had. Not bad, and I will try them again but next time I will have a picture or more specific details about what I am looking for. I also went here with the groupon for spa mani-pedi, but didn't seem to enjoy the visit as much as other reviewers. I thought that Gossip had a good atmosphere and was nicely decorated and clean, so in those respects it seemed like a really nice salon. Also it was easy to get an appointment for the day and time I wanted (although I called a few weeks in advance so that's to be expected). my problems with the salon were that it seemed a bit pricey for what you were getting and that the description of the services did not match up to what I actually received. I was fine with the groupon rate, but if I was going to pay $65 for a mani-pedi, I would probably go somewhere else in the area. then on the description for a spa manicure and spa pedicure, the website for the salon and the groupon said that both services include paraffin wax treatment, although in reality they did not. I'm not sure what the difference is between spa mani-pedi and regular, as what was advertised as "spa" treatment seemed to be the standard for a normal mani-pedi at other places I have gone to. The nail techs were very nice and made us feel welcome, although the one I had talked a bit much. Overall I would say if Gossip offers another groupon or similar deal it would be worth going, but otherwise not worth the price. read more

I LOVED this place, which is saying a lot because I very rarely have a good experience at the hair salon. Getting my haircut is like going to the dentist. Its uncomfortable for me, I put it off, I worry about being ridiculed and I don't particularly enjoy the experience. Gossip changed that for me. I came as a walk-in and they seated me right away. Wash, Condition, Cut, and Blow Dry is only $35, and the girls were just great. Olga did my hair, and I'd definitely recommend her. She listened to what I wanted, and made great suggestions. She was very open to helping me figure out what I wanted to do with my hair, and let me know that she would be happy to be in touch with me about hair coloring. I got my haircut from Shori, and she was very professional, she meticulously took her time to give me the best and exact haircut that I wanted. She also recommended the best products for my hair which I absolutely love. I tried Gossip twice for eyebrow waxing. My first time I waited for 19 minutes for my gal to get to me. The second time I waited 15 minutes for the same gal.( She did good work the first time which is why I gave this place another shot.) Waiting 15 -20 minutes for an eyebrow wax? The whole appointment shouldn't take much longer than that!! It was not until I stood up to leave WITHOUT getting my brows done that anyone tried to figure out what the hold up was.
