Loveeeeee somisomi. It will always be my first choice for dessert when we're in Chinatown. It's just a quick ice cream and fish waffle dessert. You get roughly 6 ice cream flavors to choose from & 3 of the flavors will be in a swirl if you prefer that. I ordered the Oreo and banana cream swirl with Nutella filling inside my waffle. There is limited seating here and no tables to sit at, so it's not exactly very accommodating.
Jeeeeez, this place is amazing! Best dessert spot in Vegas. Fresh baked waffle wraps filled with decadent soft serve and choice of complimentary topping and filling? Just amazing!
The best dessert in Spring Mountain, it taste amazing in the service is really good. It will be a little late in the line, but that's because it's so good but they get through the line really fast! Family and friend friendly there's a sitting area/ staircase !
This spot has something for everyone in my family and friend group. Most of the ice cream flavors are lactose free - check, check; red bean taiyaki - check; ice cream with Asian flavors - check, check, check. The business is always clean and the service is friendly. there are no samples and you cannot get two flavors unless it is a part of their predetermined swirl. I don't know who decides, but I really don't want Thai tea with cookies and cream. Getting the fish shaped cone is a must! I say take a few taiyaki home for a crispy air fryer treat later in the day. The down side is the limited seating. Enjoy!
Always a good idea to stop over and pick up a special Korean dessert known as "Ah-Boong", a fish-shaped waffle cone filled with your choice of soft serve and toppings. They really have a good selection to choose from. I got the strawberry soft serve, fruity pebble topping, and pastry filling with custard is a must. Came here with a few people, line was short and the young guy taking order was quick. The place is located at Shanghai Plaza. Parking is limited but, you can also park on the street near by. Inside they have a tier bench to sit on, it reminds me of the bleachers we had in high school lol. On the side of the entrance, there is a long standing table to eat as well.
This is my go to place when I want somthing hot fresh and not too sweet. I get mine plain sometimes The signature "Ah-Boong" (taiyaki with soft serve) is the main draw, The "upside down" option (ice cream in a cup with the fish on top) is a popular choice to avoid mess. This is what I usually get the upside down option. Sometimes I just crave the fish plain or with custard on the side no ice cream needed. They have many options on filings to choose from, such as (Nutella, custard, red bean, black sesame, cheese) and unlimited toppings fruity pebbles, Oreos crumbs are popular choices. This place gets busy so be ready to wait for your order as sometimes they are making them fresh. Give this place a try and happy eating....
The dessert is definitely for mi, but the seating is so-so. Somisomi is a chain that offers taiyaki (fish-shaped waffles) and rotating flavors of soft serve ice cream. I enjoy their Henderson location quite a bit, but upon finishing lunch in this location's plaza and noticing that there's currently a matcha/strawberry swirl on the menu, I had to stop in for that specific blend. The Soft Serve In A Cup ($4.50 now) is the straightforward way to experience the soft serve. You can get toppings too, and I went with my semi-standard matcha powder and biscoff crumbles. I definitely got both the matcha and a strawberries-and-cream experience in most of the bites, so it was worth it for that alone. The complimentary strawberry was ripe and naturally sweet too though, and it added intensity and nuance in every little nibble which I was able to take of it. The issue I have with this specific store is that they apparently deemed it unnecessary to buy chairs even well after the pandemic had resolved. The only seating is stadium style, kinda like a lower-rent version of Gabi, and it's pretty easy to spill toppings or even melting ice cream onto yourself without a counter or table. I can have my counter with a seat at the Henderson location, so why not here? Somisomi is a great option overall for dessert, but this isn't the perfect place to have some.
Stopped in for a late night treat after dinner and this place never disappoints. The cashier was nice and helpful when ordering. The soft serve is always spot on and the serving size is enough for 2 to share(glad I brought my boyfriend). The taiyaki is always delicious no matter what flavor you choose. There are some seating options but it is a smaller area to sit or stand. The flavors and swirls change every week and you can find that information on their instagram so always check before going if you're looking for a specific flavor. We will be back soon since I can't get enough of this place!
Gotta stop here every time we're in Vegas!! Always crowded and worth the weight every single time. How many flavors that are lactose free. Is there lots of sunny souls and this one has an amazing atmosphere. Love the staircase sitting area. Not far from the Strip. Can't help the gift but it's delicious dessert!
I had Somisomi once in LA many years ago and remembered it was good but at the time, they didn't ask or offer toppings like this visit in Vegas so it wasn't the most memorable back then. What got me really excited about this visit was seeing Earl Grey soft serve on the menu! I got the Upside Down Ahboong. I chose matcha for the filling this time which was alright, I think I prefer the custard. Of course Earl Grey for the soft serve. When they call your name, there's a variety of toppings you can add which is all included! Lastly, they ask if you want a fresh strawberry or macaroon to finish it all off. If you ever had the Earl Grey ice cream from Van Leeuwen, is very similar! Absolutely delicious, I'd come back just for the Earl Grey soft serve!

Didn't even get a chance to get the food. Placed the order and waiting with my son. I ordered the 5 piece taiyaki. Was normal not too busy but not slow either. Saw people came in after me that ordered. Everyone received their order. After 10 minutes I went to counter and asked where my order was. The 2 employees just stayed there talking to each other and ignored me. Then when I asked again in a louder voice, one had attitude and says there's no ticket. He walked to the computer and saw the order then realized the receipt was on the ground. I said forget it. Cancel it and refund my money. 2 days past and the refund for the original amount was returned but the tip was kept. For anyone who has come in here before, and got a refund issued, please look that if you tipped, they will still keep the tip and not issue your full refund. Was only for $1.xx keeping money without service and then having employees give attitude. Will definitely not come ever again. I even spoke to a manager and they told me to come back because they can't find the order. Pathetic.
This was great! Last time I was in, it took a lonnng time but this time it went really fast and there was quite a few people there so really big and good improvement. Great soft serve and the little fish are delicious! There isn't a lot of sitting room inside though and parking can be rough so just make yourself aware :) really awesome though!

Came here after dinner for some dessert since I was craving ice cream. The shop has a variety of flavors, including some weekly blends - this week they had three: ube & pistachio, cookies and cream & Thai tea, matcha & strawberry. They have three different styles which include ah boong (served in taiyaki), upside down (taiyaki in a cup), or just a cup. The taiyaki also has a variety of fillings to choose from. And variety toppings can be added without extra charge. Of note, this place is cashless! I just wanted a cup so I did not order any additional taiyaki. I got ube soft serve with an addition of biscoff crumble. The staff prepares your order really quickly within a couple minutes, even during busy times. You can take your order to go and leave, but they also have some seating in the shop if you want to stick around to enjoy your cold treat. It's styled similar to high school bleachers where the seats are made of wood. Plenty of lighting to take pictures, along with a decorative wall if you're into that! Fairly kid friendly place too, where they can sit and enjoy their soft serve; I would not recommend having them run freely as there's not much room especially during busy hours. read more

Food: 4/5 Cold Brew: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Alright, we had a great experience here, my only issue is that ice cream melted too fast indoors. Other than that, flavors were great, tasted how they were supposed to, and taiyaki was the perfect texture. The cold brew was good, it's served black but was a little light on flavor for me, if light coffee is your thing then this is PERFECT for you. Oh, and an awesome added bonus is the toppings bar at the end. Located in Chinatown. My friend who is a local introduced me to this spot. She said it gets packed on the weekends and nights, but fortunately it wasn't busy when we went. The venue is clean and bright. There is some unique seating in the back where you can just hang out with friends. They have pasty options or ice cream in a cone. We had the fish-shaped pastry. You can order 2 or 5. We got the 2 as a nice, little treat after lunch. They had a new Dubai Chocolate filling so we decided to try it. The pastry was hot and chewy. The filling was super chocolate and delicious. I appreciated that the filling was not super runny or messy. This is a great little treat after a meal or would be great on a hot day. read more

Clean, friendly staff, great ice cream, BTS special, playing BTS music during BTS Arirang Las Vegas tour. Night tends to be packed. We came around noon and it wasn't too busy yet. There is an entrance and parking on street behind building. read more
What a treat! Perfect desert on hot summer night. Located in Shanghai Plaza. Parking can be tricky when busy. The establishment offers limited bleacher style seating but it adds to its unique appeal. The ice cream is soft serve with a creamy texture. Flavors vary from traditional cookies and cream to Thai tea, and you choose how it's served up. In a Ah Boong (waffle fish), in a cup or both. The Thai Tea with a red bean filling is my favorite. The staff is friendly and well organized so the line moves quickly. read more

So freaking yummyyy. I got the cookies and cream with thai tea swirl and it was perfect tbh. I got the oreo topping and it made it that much better. My friends got the taiyaki and they rlly liked it! I didn't try it so idk :) read more
You can't not like Somisomi. It's mochi dough pressed into fish shaped addictive deliciousness. If that's not good enough, they fill them with Nutella, red bean, and a host of other amazing flavors of victory. This is how you start a new year...or end a Friday night read more

Super cute shop in the heart of China town. We got the Ube ice cream with the fish on top. I don't recommend the black sesame as it's quite bitter but the custard was good. The employees were kind and helpful. read more

Perfect stop for a quick Saturday night sweet treat! Cashier was helpful. Busy but line moved fast. So many great flavors and options. Interior is nice and clean. Back of location has additional sitting area. Strawberry ube upside down ahboong was delicious! read more
Tried all the combo flavors they had. The best was Ube and strawberry. The flavors were well balanced. The strawberry flavor reminded me of strawberry pocky sticks. I liked the matcha but the dulce de leche combo didn't do much for the flavor. Cookies and cream with Thai tea was good. Tasted more Thai tea flavors. While I do have a list of dessert spots to try, rarely do I actually visit them. After a long walk around Chinatown though I decided to finally hit up Somisomi at the Shanghai Plaza. Upside Down Ahboong ($6.95): Went for the "popular" Ube & Thai Tea soft serve flavor and the cashier-recommended Matcha Custard filling. Quite a lot in the cup with more inside the gaping mouth of the amusing and crispy/cakelike fish cone. Yummy. Strawberry Matcha Milk ($5.95): Twelve cold ounces in a screw top, branded, glass milk bottle. Also delicious. Value: Ice cream fair for its volume and premium taste; milk price a bit hefty but the container did make an interesting souvenir. Atmosphere: A straightforward yet colorful box filled with light. Bleacher seating and a wall-mounted standing counter. Service: Very nice and prompt. read more

Have eaten here SO MANY times and just now realized I haven't left a review! I used to think oreo x nutella taiyaki was the best but I only have a slight sweet tooth so not the best judge for that. The matcha cream I had a few weeks ago was AMAZINGGGG! Loved it. Food is always great, always fast! They have a great seating area but does not hold very many people and often the line is out the door. Expect a long wait to order, but a comparably shorter wait (yay) to get your food afterwards. read more

It was a bit confusing when we walked in because one side is just soft serve ice cream and waffles and the other side is dessert bowls with fresh fruits and other toppings, each with a separate menu. I had the ube swirl soft serve in a cup (the upside-down ahboong, $6.95) with a waffle-fish and black sesame paste (you can choose your filling for any ice cream). The wafflefish was hollow so you could spoon your ice cream into his tummy and take a delicious bite. There is gymnasium-like step seating and a few tables. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ice cream and waffles were fresh and very delicious. You can choose toppings for your ice cream when your order is ready. Popular with teenagers; plenty of parking in the strip mall parking lot. Location is on first floor and it's easiest to enter the strip mall parking lot at the cross street on the left of the center (Arville St). read more
