This was our first of many more to come at this establishment. The service from Taylor was great, the food was flavorful and the drinks were definitely on point. Social distances were not an issue, mask are required to make your orders. This is a low-key classy place, very laid back and the prices are very reasonable.

I usually pass by this establishment when they are closed, but it has been on my list of places to try. I love it! There is a relaxed vibe, good music, beautiful Black imagery, and health conscious food. I will definitely be back to try the vegetarian soul pizza!

Stopped by here on a whim on a Tuesday night. The place was pretty empty except for us and one other table. You order your food and drinks at the bar and seat yourself. They then bring your food and drinks to your table. One drawback was that service was very slow for it to be as empty as it was. However, the tacos were decent! Drinks were just alright, but not strong enough for my tastebuds. The space is super cute tho. Nice decor and a stage for live perfomances. I would be up to visiting again to check out the space for an event/performance but wouldn't make a special trip just for the food/drinks.

What attracted me to this spot was the smell of what I later found out was the shredded chicken for their taco menu. My coworker and I smelled this from the street and said we had to go check this out (yes, we were on the clock... lol). The second thing that attracted me as the name ... it was just different and intriguing. What kept me engaged was the vibe. We returned to order their taco as we had to wait until the chicken was cooked and then ordered us some. It was refreshingly good and I loved that the taco wrap was black .... not something I've seen before. I recommend this spot and will be returning soon.

I assure you you want to check it out they have a great stage and they do live performances in Tuesday nights

I always feel so stimulated when I come into this place. I went for lunch on Tuesday, I had an opportunity to meet the mother and daughter team who has brought something beautiful to Bronzeville. I wish them all of the best I love their ambiance. It is also the perfect place to have a birthday party or a retirement party

I have noticed social media posts about this place but had not had an opportunity to stop by. I noticed a post on Instagram regarding a house music set and the neighborhood vendor night. Me and my daughter stopped by and was advised of a five dollar cover charge, no drink ticket offered. The space for the band/DJ stage and combo dance area is small. The pros: The venue offers a patio area with open window seating and indoor high bar tables and chairs as well as regular tables and chairs. It offers a very relaxed vibe with a food menu of healthy options to order from and a small bar sitting area. The wall displays imagery of black love and kind of takes you back to the black activist era of 70's and 80's. The cons: cover charge (why?) and there was no server for the tables. If you wanted a drink or food you had to stand in a line at the bar. The instagram page suggests weekly drink specials and events, so check the page if you want to know what's happening. Suggestions: No cover charge and hire a waiter to service the tables. Will I visit again? If no cover charge, absolutely.

They have expanded the food menu since my first visit, and everything I tried was solid. The empanada was my favorite, the quesabirria was really good, and the chicken torta was delicious. On my first visit, I only had the guacamole, which I also enjoyed. The decor is beautiful and intimate, creating a great atmosphere, and the music is always on point. The staff has been friendly and welcoming every time I have gone. This place is definitely staying in my regular rotation.

Just a tad pricey but over all a lovely place I would revisit.

There is an epic wall mural that features different aspects of the city, including a huge Barack Obama head. As I said: epic. The bar is separated into two distinct parts, divided by a counter/tables in the center (you have to walk all the way around if you want to switch sides or move at the tables). On one side is the bar and a few TVs to watch the games, giving it a louder sports bar kind of vibe. On the other side there are a bunch of tables--almost like picnic tables. It feels very communal and laid-back. It's a place you can sip on drinks and easily spend time with a group of friends. The Cove is very group-friendly. My favorite part? My friend brings his dog there and it's no problem. Is this bar a dive? Yes. Do I care? No. Do I actually love it? Absolutely. Best bar on the area, hands down.

The line to get in was a bit long (however covered since it was raining which was nice). The venue is located upstairs so we waited along since a long set of stairs with everyone else. Drinks weren't outrageously expensive which was nice, and we genuinely had a good time here! From the start, the bartender's attitude seemed off, but what stood out most was the difference in how I was treated compared to the rest of my group. He was friendly, attentive, and even offered complimentary drinks and shots to my friends, while I was largely ignored. Things escalated when the check came. After I paid, my receipt was held up in a way that drew attention to the fact that I hadn't left a tip on the card. And, then he mocked me and said, "I'm sorry my service was that bad to the point, I didn't get a tip." Shortly after, my friends continued receiving drinks on the house--again excluding me out. This created an awkward and embarrassing situation, especially since I was sitting right there with them. For clarity, I tip in cash as a personal preference, but regardless, no one should be singled out or treated differently like that. He laughed, and kept showing my receipt.
