I have worked with Amy at Somatic Collaborative for over a year. In this work together I have created a new relationship with my trauma, my body and my emotions. I truely feel safe in my own space and in the world, for the first time in my 70 years on this earth. Amy is an incredible healer and space holder. I've been working with her on a (mostly) weekly basis, and she's really shifted some major blocks for me and brought me in touch with strong emotions I wasn't aware of in my body. Her "somatic experiencing" works seems simple: light touch and deep nurturing connection, but it goes extremely deep. In the first few sessions, I mostly rested in connection and safety. Thereafter, though, arose some really intense healing and emotional/traumatic release -- once my body felt safe with her, I guess. I was amazed in her capacity to work with and hold the range of experiences moving through my being. I really feel a strong maternal presence holding me, meeting deep attachment needs I didn't know that I had. Critically, I feel very safe with Amy, and really trust her to handle what arises. I have done talk therapy for years. And consider myself quite in touch with my body (yoga teacher certified, etc.). I was at a point on my life, where I felt I needed to slow the pace of things, to bring mindfulness back, basically I needed to stop being so reactive to the busy life I had created around me. I was looking for someone that could help me focus on all the positive things I have learned throughout the years, to help me get rid of bias and bring back control upon my life. At first I was a bit skeptical, but the moment I met with her I realized that it was going to work. I have worked with Amy a number of times over the past few years and enjoy the experience each time because of her understanding and open-hearted nature. The most recent work I did with her was to manifest a home that would be simple, comfortable, and would give me the opportunity to play with gardening, landscaping ideas, and solar technologies - among other things. She guided me through a process that went beyond just visualization and helped me to emotionally "align" with the home environment I sought. I've been looking for a house for a year - and, more seriously, with a realtor for 6 months, and I hadn't been successful in purchasing a house that met my rather complex set of requirements. Exactly one week after our session I saw my future home for sale. I knew immediately that it was the house for me - right neighborhood, location, appropriate yard, even the orientation of the house to the sun. Acquiring a house is only the beginning of the dream, but after working with Amy I have a lot of confidence that everything else will work out well too.
