If you haven't tried the hot chocolate here, try it -- deep in flavour and smooth in texture, it's not something you can get at other places. The Mayan hot chocolate is intense, with a little spicy kick. YUM! The staff are always cheery and check you out quite efficiently. The store has a glass window in the corner where you can see the cacao beans being ground up, and the display is straightforward and colourful. Located in a historic building, the store has a charming, cozy feel. Out of their chocolates, I love the Old School (dark) bars, with just two ingredients -- ground cocoa nibs and cane sugar. Apparently, like what chocolate was back in the day... no heavy processing and a unique crumbly texture.

I like how they have glass walls so you can see inside the chocolate laboratory. I ended up spending around $200 CAD buying various chocolates as souvenirs for friends, family, and myself. They have a lot of chocolates with different flavors. If you have a peanut allergy I would be careful. The packaging on the back of my items warns there could be trace amounts of tree nuts and other allergens. Prices vary but seem relatively reasonable for the high quality. A small-medium box of assorted truffles was $14 CAD. The birch chocolate bar was around $50 CAD. Smaller items like the bagged toffee was around $7-8 CAD each. I also purchased a little gift bundle with a squirrel cup, biscotti, and hot chocolate. The biscotti was a hit! The gift recipient told me it's the best biscotti she's ever had. I was also told the texture of the truffles was really good! The gianduja travel is deliciously smooth. It's like a very elevated version of ferrero rocher or Nutella. The spiced toffee was very good too! It wasn't too sweet. You could keep eating it. It didn't taste like a candle which can often happen with gingerbread foods. Soma chocolate was a wonderful find! I only wish I had bought more chocolates for myself or tried their hot chocolate and gelato while I was there.

I've been to a few chocolate stores, and I went into Lindt with few expectations (as it's a chain of chocolate stores). I was in North York with my sister visiting family and while visiting the Shops at Don Mills, we walked into Lindt. From the first moments in the store, the employees walked towards the two of us each offering a free Lindt truffle. I saved mine for later...certainly a delicious treat just for stopping by! The first thing I noticed were bins upon bins filled with chocolates. Their Lindor chocolates were a part of a special sale where someone can pick and mix 100 mg (yes, Canada is on the metric system!) for the special price of $3.49 (Canadian). It's also 50% off 100 truffles or during their customer appreciation days, it was 30% off any number of truffles. See the photos for a better idea of how that works. There was also a bar there with a variety of chocolate beverages. If you got two drinks, there was a special Buy 1, Get 1 50% off promotion going on. Needless to say, while the prices were fair, the promotions were great! Oh, and there were some creative gift options along with some new flavors (like the Lindor Fudge Swirl). I signed up for a Lindt account while there and got a discount on my first purchase. As my sister and I were the only two in the store, we got a lot of attention by the staff, who made us feel right at home. They answered many questions, and we ended up buying quite a bit to bring back home as gifts. It was certainly a fun experience that smelled (and tasted) great! Thanks also to the great staff at Lindt.

I always look forward to checking out Lindt stores when I seem em in malls. Seasonal flavours are interesting to browse, and I especially look forward to their winter truffles like candy cane, or peppermint cookie crunch. Today, I dropped by to check out their new Dubai style bar. It came to slightly over $20 after tax, and I must say, what a whopping disappointment. Could hardly detect any pistachio flavour or the crunch of the kadayif. Way too sweet. I dare say what Costco has carried so far has been better than Lindt's version. Where did this go wrong... Also, I hate that their no sugar added stuff is all maltitol. Just waiting to give people a terrible stomachache. That being said, I do love their new "fusion" excellence bars. Half one flavour, half another. Their 70% Dark + Milk Chocolate Bar is indeed excellent. Smooth texture and flavour.
