This small vineyard can trace its roots back to Germany from the early 1800's though the Canadian company itself is only about 30 or 40 years old. Having said that this boutique winery offers outstanding wines in small batches as well as cider due to a fire that an aged damaged their grape crop the previous year while they still had flourishing apples on the property. Stopping by the store we learnt the familial history of the owner and how they trace their roots back to Germany's wine country. We enjoyed sampling several of their white, red and frizzante wines as well as cider for a small fee of $15 which was refunded because one of our group purchased a selection of wine. The property itself is nice with a cute bathroom and great view. There are games for kids to play and lots of different seating options. The road here is unpaved, similar to a logging service road. You don't need 4x4 but it is a bit steep and just know it's not asphalt. A Tasting is $15 but they poured some extra wines for us. They also use some grapes not commonly seen like blanch noir. Note that they douse grapes from other vineyards including across the border, but they are transparent about that by marking those particular wines on the menu.

They're a family run winery specializing in natural wines. We dropped in on a Saturday morning (with 11:00am reservations). If you climb up a hill, you're in the right spot. View is absolutely gorgeous from the top. We were given the tasting and tour by Jordan (one of the winemakers!); really friendly and informative. Tastings are $10.00 per person and we were given 5 wines to sample. Fee is waived with purchase. Tastings are by appointment only but can be booked easily online. Sadly, they were sold out of several bottles (including their pet nat). - Blanc de noirs 2018 - flowers and strawberries. - Viognier 2018 - citrus fruit and salty rocks. - Rosé 2018 - watermelon jolly rancher. This one wasn't as dry as described (bone dry) but had a smooth finish. This one turned out to be our favourite so we bought a bottle ($25.00) for home. - Pinot noir 2017 - floral and cherries. - Syrah 2018 - pink pepper, violets and leather. If you're into natural wines, LRW is a no brainer.

Is that Nichol Vineyard management employee named ; Marc Sllngsby Jones ? That same employee also was - each time he drove that tractor by today, (without our consent) trying to film us with his cell phone while hazardously navigating a tractor thru Douglas Buchanan's vineyard. Then upon leaving Buchanan's vineyard , that same employee (probably angry Marc) used his tractor machinery to intentionally create a massive cloud of dust all along the public (unpaved) road he utilized to access the vineyard- which significantly and for no agricultural purpose hazardously reduced the air quality for the nearby neighbors. Yesterday , on 2023/08/01 - Nichol Vineyard Managment employee ; Marc Slingsby Jones dismounted from the seat of the tractor/sprayer he was driving to then blatantly lie about that he is acting in compliance to his employers'(Ross Hackworth) recommendations to not tractor spray within 50ft of our private property and daily food supply. Marc Slingsby Jones was then informed that he was not successful that same morning in trying to sneak by first thing in the early hours to tractor spray agricultural chemicals in unacceptably close proximity to our private property and daily food supply -while perhaps thinking all of these concerned neighbors may still be asleep and so not catch him trying to get lazy - ignoring our peaceful agreement with Ross Hackworth to hand-spray only within 50ft of our private property and daily food supply. Why is Marc Slingsby Jones acting so sinister ? During the month of May 2023 , Marc Slingsby Jones had been 'stalking' his assault victim with a companion. Marc Slingsby Jones eventually then approached his (agr.spray) victim while his 'companion/assistant' lurked behind , partially hidden behind the bushes near the cemetery. Marc Slingsby Jones then called out to his victim & said he plans to spray agr. chemicals in close proximity to his victim again while also complaining that he has a chip on his shoulder towards property owners because he cannot afford to own a home in Naramata. Marc Slingsby Jones was then reminded by his agr. spray assault victim that Marc's boss ; Ross Hackworth, stated that they would hand-spray only within 50ft of our private property but Marc then tried to ignore that information. (2023/08/08- 2 police accuse the VICTIM of water spray 'assault' charge made by NICHOL winery !) Hello Ross Hackworth, Yesterday morning (Monday 10/7/23) your ' NICOLE' employee (who was unidentifiable from 3 meters away because he was so wrapped up / camouflaged in a protective hazmat suit , face mask etc. ) was utilizing a tractor / sprayer within about 3 meters from one of your neighbors (Hayman road , Naramata, B.C.) who was provided with no protective equipment or protection while trying to tend to the daily garden food supply . What is the trade name of the agricultural chemical NICHOLE vineyard management was spraying ? (2023/08/08- no reply) Was the 'NICOLE' employee's name who was spraying ; Marc Slingsby-Jones ? (if not please identify that person) (2023/08/08- no reply) 3) Were you , Ross Hackworth made aware that your statement in your most recent communicate ; "the current measures we are taking (not spraying within 50ft of your property line," would be contravened by your employees spraying methods yesterday morning ? Where additionally there existed a prevailing breeze from west to east so, from your spraying activities towards us. The odor of your sprays was discernable and consequently trespassing into the lungs etc. of your unprotected neighbor who was otherwise trying to tend to the garden, fresh food supply by unsuccessfully trying to exercise the FEDERAL right to the utilization and enjoyment of private property.(2023/08/08- no reply) The " inspected and approved application equipment and methods " you (Ross) refer to in your most recent communication must not (under the human rights laws of Canada) be utilized as a "green light or loop-hole" to allow NICOLE employees to blatantly discriminate against us . NICOLE employees Marc Slingsby-Jones & Nichol Pentecost Hackworth have stated that they would not tolerate being sprayed by us with your "approved" agricultural chemical concoction yet that is exactly what you they are doing to us - under the guise of a blatantly discriminatory approval / permission from the PMRA - who also will not consented to allowing us to spray them as frequently with the same products they have permitted us to be repeatedly sprayed with. The tasting is $5 non-refundable but you get 7-8 pours. Terry is so knowledgeable, and he does not influence your taste bus buds but works with you to find your best taste. Two years ago, I bough their rose but this time I bought the 2022 Pinot Meunier ($24 including tax and bottle deposit). Terry also suggested another local small family winery for their Gamay Noir - which we also loved. Thornhaven's settling is beautiful with rows and rows of vines and peaks of the Okanagan Lake and hilltops. Buying a bottle or glass of wine and you can bring in our own picnic to enjoy on the patio or the Adirondack chairs.

The symbolic behind the name "Mocojo" is a pretty cool story that you can hear about as well. I do have to admit, I'm not a blue cheese fan, although the pairing that they have with it makes it melt in your mouth delicious! I was pleasantly surprised.
