Back in May, we met with Ernie from B-Line Fencing for a quote on a new fence installation. After…read morereceiving HOA approval, we proceeded with signing a contract and paying a deposit. Unfortunately, our experience quickly became frustrating and disappointing. Just days before our scheduled installation, we were informed that the job required a permit from the City of Rock Hill--a detail Ernie, as the professional, should have known and addressed upfront. The project was put on hold indefinitely. From there, we were repeatedly asked for additional documents, such as our plat, HOA approval letter, and later, specific approval related to an easement on our property. While I complied with each request, it was frustrating to keep learning about new requirements only after we had already entered into a contract. Ernie eventually told me the permit had been denied and mentioned that dealing with Rock Hill's permitting process had become a "nightmare." The last request I received was for an HOA easement approval letter, which I provided despite my growing frustration. I never received a response after that. When I followed up by phone, I was informed that Ernie had decided to cancel the job altogether and did not want to deal with it anymore. I did receive a refund of my deposit, along with a letter referencing several phone conversations from B-Line's office. One of these claims--alleging a call on July 24th with a dismissive response from a man who answered my phone--is completely inaccurate. No such call occurred, and I suspect the wrong number was being used. I'm sharing this review so future customers are aware of what we went through. We're now back to square one, starting the process over with another contractor. While we understand that permits and approvals can be challenging, much of this could have been avoided with better communication and preparation from B-Line.

The paver work will last 50 years, the bushes he selected were large and lush and even bigger than I first selected, everything is well placed and level! The sod work was excellent, they cleaned up everything from gravel in the street and yard to any trash or mess each night. For the Sod, they hand and shovel removed the old weeded areas without pesticides and made sure the earth was properly prepared with a layer of sod dirt before they laid it down. I highly recommend G and R if you want the work done properly and to last. Thank you Gairy and your whole polite and knowledgeable team.

First job: great Second job: decent, but some of the plants…read moreweren't the greatest quality and had to chase around quite a lot to get them to replace. Third job: (Last fall) paid for manual pulling/removal of Bermuda grass from garden beds, plus weed control and mulch. Emphasis on manual removal - explicitly was told they would pull all the Bermuda out manually to get all the roots out. Took a bit of chasing around to get them to actually get it on the books, and then when they did come they just buzzed everything with a string trimmed and sprayed weed killer over that. We agreed to still pay the full price on the condition that Gairy would send a team out in the spring once the Bermuda woke up and inevitably came through the mulch since it wasn't removed. He agreed, and we left it at that. Flash forward to this year and has completely ghosted us and been non-responsive. Even tried asking about having a bunch of other services added so that it wouldn't be a totally free trip, but still No luck. We finally gave up on any hope of getting the promised services, hired Mr. Outdoor Living, dropped like $4K on services with them instead and will be sticking with them next year when we do a sprinkler system and stone retaining walls.

From the point I reached out to project completion was about 2 weeks and that was with a custom made gate. It turned out great. Additionally, I had a couple other issues around the house and he had his team look at it on the spot while completing the gate. He had a quote for me for the two repairs within the day and the work complete within the same week. I'm saving their number and will be reaching out again if I need any work projects complete around the house. They have reasonable pricing that was well worth the outcomes! Pat came out to my house twice to walk our site and give us advice as we have a hill in our back yard and we weren't sure how far down we wanted our fence to go. He was helpful and informative. The crew used our driveway and yard without permission to get the job done, which is fine, but left a lot of dirt and mud tracks on our driveway without cleaning up after themselves. I called the company to ask them to come back and clean up the mess, because I shouldn't have to, but had zero sense of urgency or desire to provide a high level of customer service and clean up their mess. I'm not sure if their product is good but their service is a 0 out of 10. An "I'm sorry" and no action is not the way to handle this. Do Better.
