I asked around for a reputable repair service and was told by a couple of local residents to go to Webster Marine. When I arrived first thing in the morning I happened to talk to Service Manager Jacob. His initial reply when I expained the situation was that they are booked three weeks out for service. When I asked where else I should look he decided to come out & take a quick look to troubleshoot if he could do it quickly. Less than 20 minutes later he found the crossthreaded/broken-off plug and had a replacement hose installed. I was on my way in less than a half hour for the price of a replacement hose. Jacob could have easily told me they couldn't help but he went above and beyond to help a customer. I hope the owners of Webster Marine Center recognize Jacob's work ethic and "customer first" attitude and realize what a great employee they have in Jacob.

During the busiest days of the year, the parking may be a bit tight, but there is always a place to park a short walk from your car. Their service department has always treated me very well. All work is high-quality and they stand behind their work. They repaired the trim gauge and it stopped working after a few weeks. They repaired the gauge right away. They care about the customer's boats stored here. After a particularly harsh winter storm, I went to check on the boat and found they had lifted the boats up to their highest position under the dock's roof to provide the best protection to the craft. I understand that sometimes one can have a bad experience with any service provider. In my case, Webster Marine has been a pleasure to deal with, do good work at an acceptable price, and care about their customers.

Several months later it was ready, so I was told. The receipt described the repair as a rebuild. The first hour on the lake and it's out of commission. Discovered the vertical shaft had sheered in a spot that rendered the whole unit as unusable. Brought it back to them with the understanding it was under warranty and after a year or so of being given the run around, I became discouraged and obtained a used lower unit. As luck would have it, it was frozen up internally. I then, at my own expense again, obtained a used lower unit casing with the understanding they would use the usable parts from the other lower units to build up a good lower unit including the new vertical shaft I had purchased. Did I mention this unit should have still been under warranty. Well, finally they call me to tell me my boat is ready to be picked up and all repairs have been completed. When I arrived, I asked them to run it to demonstrate it's function. I noticed that the RPM had to be increased to get it to shift into gear. A minor adjustment on the linkage I thought to myself. I also noticed a binding of the propeller shaft when turning it by hand and was told that the new bearings needed to be seated and the binding should disappear after running on the lake for a while. When I got it home I took it upon myself to make the necessary adjustment to the linkage so it would shift into gear properly. As I removed the top cover to expose the shift linkage and discovered it was not fully connected. No cotter key to retain the connection. I knew at that point if I had gone any distance on the water it would have vibrated loose, rendering the shifting function unusable. I would have been dead in the water again. Swallowing my pride and dealing with a much thinner wallet, I took it to another repair facility for a second opinion where they assured me the binding issue was not at all normal and there was obviously something wrong. I might also add, I noticed gear oil leaking out of a water port on the gear case telling me it hadn't been sealed properly. I had run it for about an hour with the water hose cuffs for cooling after I had brought it home instead of taking my chances on the water. Good thing I did. If review rating went into the negative, that what they would have gotten. Totally Unprofessional and at times rude with no communication with me at all. That should do it! Hope this hurts as it was meant to!
