A prime water front restaurant on Smith Mountain Lake. More dive bar feel, but third generation run (which is saying a lot!) and worth a visit if you're in the area. Locals know the drill, order a bucket of beer and get settled in. Don't expect it to be very kid friendly, no kids menu and all the tables outside are high tops (although they do have high chairs). We arrived slightly before 6pm, before the dinner rush- but still waited 45 minutes to get our food. Our bill was slightly discounted because of the delay, (did I mention we had to get our own lemonade refill) but I'd rather have faster food service than comped food. Yes...great food at the marina! You can sit inside, which is a little sports bar like, but I would save this place for good daytime weather so you can enjoy their nice, big deck, with a great view of one of the western-most fingers of the lake. My catfish sandwich was hot and delicious...best catfish ever. Not too "catfishy." My fries were good, but my son's home made potato chips were thick and delicious...best ever! Pleasant service. We had dinner at Magnum Point Marina. We arrived at 6:30 pm Friday night, and about an hour later the place was full. Our server was great. The food was delicious, I had the grilled Chicken Sandwich with fries, The fries were the best I have ever had. The grilled chicken was prepared well. My sister enjoyed her pizza. It looked so good. Others at our table had the Cheese Steak with grilled onions and Chopped Steak with 2 sides. They also enjoyed their meals. Nice atmosphere with good music. The restaurant ant Magnum Point Marina is one of the best places to eat on the lake. Always homemade food, tasty and generous portions as well. Service is always great and friendly, no matter how busy they are. Sitting in the outdoor section is fun and relaxing. In the summer the large windows are removed to allow for a nice breeze while sitting up above the Blackwater river which gives a nice view of the Blackwater. Lots of great choices on the menu too. I like to start with something positive. The cooks were great. The hostess and waitstaff need correction from the owner. The hostess was very rude and short in her manners, She did not make our group ( who were first-timers) feel welcome. We waited over an hour for our food and we had another engagement we had to attend to. Knowing we could not wait any longer, we requested the food to go. After we asked about it, A gentleman with black hair, told us it was being packaged up and would be out in 5 minutes. The food did not arrive when he stated it would and the staff was trying to pull the wool over our eyes by giving us stall tactics. We got there before there was a wait and sat right away. Got drinks and ordered at relatively normal pace. After we ordered, it took an hour to get our food. The waitress we were supposed to have came to our table only once to set down our food, another waitress got everything else. Our main goal for the night was to watch SMLs famous sunsets. As this restaurant faces the West, do not get your hopes up. We were seated quickly on a weekend night with a large party. Service was quick and friendly- order the fried pickles, skip the white pizza. Our main complaint for the night was the entertainment. The live performer was overbearing and not quite as crowd pleasing as he may have thought. All in all, one for the money, none for the show. read more

Four of us tried the restaurant at this marina yesterday on the recommendation of Paulette at LakeScapes. The owners of old LaTrattoria Restaurant on Old Franklyn Highway have partnered with the owners of the Ice Cream bar here at Magnum Marina and have combined their menus. The service was fabulous, the menu extensive, and the catch of the day (catfish) and the fish tacos & homemade chips were great. We'll be back soon to try more items on the menu. read more

We had two meals here on our trip to Smith Mountain Lake. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and included eggs, bacon, sausage patties, grits, biscuits and gravy, and fresh hot coffee! We enjoyed so much we went back for lunch. Highly recommend the fish tacos. They were fresh, tasty, and came with a mango salsa that was outstanding. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Our experience was so good we stopped for ice cream on our way out, which was just as amazing. We are looking forward to visiting again! read more

This is our go to restaurant summer and winter. They serve a variety of food and the quality is consistent. It can get busy in summer so expect it not to be fast food during the summer weekends. There was only one (1) other table in the place and we waited over 90 minutes for our dinners..that was only after going in twice to see what the problem was... We had ordered a pizza and fried catfish... The catfish was ok not as good as Union Station in Bedford even sub-par for the lake.... The service can only be as good as the Kitchen and Management...If I could give you a minus 5 I would. You comped the food but ruined the evening.... Steer Clear of this FAILING ESTABLISHMENT.... We have lived full time on the lake for 10 years never experienced such lack of Customer Service. Frustrated and just well I am exasperated at this point....Wendy's would have been a better choice....the owner showed up at the end of the fiasco but never addressed the Elephant in the room. Stumbled upon this gem. Have been there about 4 times now. The service is great! Lauren takes the time to get to know her customers and it's truly a wonderful experience. The food is quite good. We have been going to the marina for years. The server was friendly, the food was good, but the young woman who greeted us at the door was directly rude to us. I don't believe my husband and I have ever been treated so rudely at a restaurant. Later on our way out we noticed that she lowered her mask and smiled at three loud men who came to the bar, one wearing an "orgasm" shirt. Too bad- I don't know if we'll ever go back. read more

They have a VERY basic menu, but a decent hamburger for someone coming in by boat or jetski. You can launch a boat here as well.

If you are there for breakfast - and hungry - ask for the K36. Does not disappoint. Best breakfast on the lake!
